Video update on the PokeBank features; it's going to be on the eShop on Dec. 27th.

Nintendo is gifting a free Celebi pokemon to users who access the Pokemon Bank before Sept. 30, 2014, it was announced during today's Nintendo Direct conference.

Both the Pokemon Bank and Pokemon Transporter apps will become available for Nintendo 3DS on Dec. 27; however, users can access a 30-day free trial until Jan. 31. The Celebi pokemon can also be accessed by those who are only using the trial version.

The Pokemon Bank allows players to store up to 3,000 pokemon in one place, while Pokemon Transporter allows for you to transfer Pokémon from Pokémon Black, White, Black 2 & White 2 over to your Pokémon X & Y games.

Sweet, I'll get to use the trial long enough to get a free celebi and xfer over all my B+B2 pokes. Smiley: yippee

eh, I'll be happily paying 5 bucks a year so I can hoard more pokes. My white 2 cart has maybe only 10 or so open slots in my box system. I have way too many pokes to keep on a cart so this is going to be MAGICAL. I have two 3DSes though so I am curious if I can have the program on each system but still connect to the same box. I imagine it should be a login style thing just in case say your 3DS breaks or whatever it shouldn't make your pokes impossible to retrieve.

[edit]

Oy Vey. If Nintendo can find a way to make the internet less functional, they will.

So I just checked their updated FAQ and the pokemon box is going to be tied to a specific 3DS system. That's so fail.... BLLLAAAAH. So if you lose your 3DS you're losing all your pokemon. Which pretty much defeats the purpose of using the cloud in the first place.

Quote:
Q: If I have several systems in the Nintendo 3DS family and I download and purchase Pokémon Bank for each of them, can I directly trade Pokémon between each of those Pokémon Banks?
A: No, you cannot.

Quote:
Q If the Nintendo 3DS system that I downloaded and purchased Pokémon Bank for is lost, can I continue to use my previous Pokémon Bank from that lost Nintendo 3DS system on a different system in the Nintendo 3DS family?

A: Any inquiries regarding your system in the Nintendo 3DS family are handled by Nintendo. We cannot say how Nintendo will respond to these situations, but please reach out to them using the following contact information:

This here is where you went wrong. Nintendo is notorious for the most obtuse and horrible online systems.

I just don't understand why you would design a "cloud" storage system that negates EVERY BENEFIT of being in the cloud. The cloud actually sucks more than just old fashioned physical media if you take all the good things away from it...

Aren't they rolling out a new system to decouple the ID from your systems, so you can keep online media? I thought I heard something along those lines.

For what it's worth, the Bank is showing up in the eshop, though blocked till the 27th.

It's cause the Bank went online in Japan yesterday. Turns out it's also crap at detecting hacked Pokemon.

It's a good thing I never believed for a second that it would.

I'm used to just assuming Nintendo's online features won't work. It's not even pessimism, at this point.

Nintendo is still having online issues and is temp removing the Poke Bank from the JP eShop to lighten server load by preventing new people from accessing it. Most likely the NA/EU access will not be activated until early January.

Until the next game.

Booted up Y, Wonder Traded, got Feebas, bankrolled it and had the 10 or so other Starters within the hour. So, yannow. Wee Cyndaquil.

No, wipe my current game and start a new one, then I just trade the level ones back to the new game. As a bonus I get the trade XP boost for all of them, getting really tired of only getting the primary colors for starter Pokemon,

You could always use a 3rd party program to backup your saves to a computer, and rotate as needed.
