Had no idea that Steam had such a sale. Now that I do...I will have a lot of games.

Yeah, they have a big sale in the summer, one around Christmas and have had smallish sales around Thanksgiving and Halloween (they had a zombie game themed one before). Just FYI.

Also, don't buy anything that's not a Daily Deal, Flash sale or Community Choice winner until the last day. The "standard" sale prices will be good for the whole sale and you won't wind up buying a game for 50% off just to have it be 75% off as a Daily deal or Flash sale the next day.

Cool thanks for the heads up. Both games I got so far were from those areas.

Oh I lied I bought Last Remnant as well SE RPG's might have fallen on hard times, but they are still my favorite. 3.50 or some sh*t....well worth it.(no I haven't played it yet...but w/e I payed for FF7 4 times now since its release...)

Last Remnant is fun, I've put about 30 hours or so total into it. But it's not your standard RPG. And there is a depth to the battle and leveling system that will @#%^ with your head if you are a perfectionist. And "grinding" is actually a bad thing to do for your characters, contrary to most RPGs.

Edit:
Oh, and Arma II's price lures you in with the promise of cheap Day Z, and then tacks on the required DLC for the same price as the base game, doubling the cost...

Check out tips in the article at the start of this thread. They'll help you decide when/what to buy. For instance, the chrome addon will give you price history, so you can know if it's low or not.

Also, Kotaku is covering the sale. You can look there.

And feel free to ask here if you want to know if a price is worthwhile.

Something that's important to note, remember that a game at a steep discount might not actually be worth it. Indie games (and others) are VERY commonly bundled in PC sales, all the time. Plenty of retailers have different bundles each week. So, sure, you could grab Torchlight 2 for $5, and that's not bad per se. But I bought 1 and 2 bundled together (I think with something else) for $5.

That said, if there's something you want, because you think you'll play it soon, and it's a decent discount to a price you'll pay, go for it.

[EDIT]

Well, Bioshock 1 has a metascore of 96, Bioshock 2 has a metascore of 88, and Bioshock Infinite has a metascore of 94.

They're FPS RPGs. A big part of the game is the environment and the twisted philosophies guiding the whole thing. But it's solid gameplay, too.

I picked up Torchlight 2 for the five steam fun bucks. By the time something else I want goes on sale I'll probably have made it back anyway.

All I'm really looking for now are:

Dishonored
Jade Empire
Evoland
Far Cry 3 if there's a really good deal on it.
Maybe Rogue Legacy

I wouldnt mind evoland going on sale for like 75% off, but I hear its only like 3 hours long and for that wont pay more then 3 bucks.
FC3 would be awesome but I highly doubt anything more than the 40% off will be on there.
I would love for Rogue Legacy to go up to 40-50% off I would buy it.

People need to get up on The Swapper, yo. Game is hamazing. On sale for another 4 hours for 50% off, $7.49 and worth every penny.

http://store.steampowered.com/app/231160/?snr=1_7_15__13

I feel this video better shows off the gameplay than the two trailers on Steam.

I voted for LFD2 because I don't have it somehow, and DR doesn't interest me, and the other one is The War Z, which is bad and dumb. And bad. And dumb.

ArmA II and ArmA II Operation Arrowhead. ArmA II Combined Operations is the base game and the OA expansion. Also, the standalone is supposed to have an alpha release any week.

I had CIV 5: BNW already, but because it went on sale already so soon, they just up & gave me CiV 4 for free.

That was nice of them.

So far got Tomb Raider for under $15 on Amazon, & from Steam Borderlands 2 and Dishonored's DLC.

If Trine 1 and 2 for $5 is a decent deal. I haven't played the second, but I've enjoyed what I played of the first so far.

Mass Effect collection (1 and 2) is on sale for $11. They're good games, and it's a decent price. But if you haven't played them yet, then you might just want to wait to buy a trilogy bundle.

Still, they're two of my favorite games. So to me it's worth it...

Gaming confession: I've purchased Mass Effect twice, and found it boring. I bought it for PC, and hated the KB/M controls, and figured that's got to be why I don't like it, right? Trying to map a controller was a pain, so I bought the ME trilogy for PS3. Played maybe 3 hours of it on there and still didn't care for it. From what I understand, a lot of people that didn't like ME did enjoy ME2, so maybe I'll give that a shot at some point.

The game became a lot more FPS-ish in play style with ME2, and they streamlined the menus.

The storytelling definitely got better, too.

But if the story itself wasn't doing it for you, then you might just not be interested.

The story was OK. The gameplay dragged it down for me. I really disliked the car driving missions on planets. I don't know. I just wasn't very compelled to keep playing, and I've played a ton of Bioware games and loved them. I like the setting, for sure. I really love that humans aren't at the top of the food chain. Maybe I'll try ME2, and if I like that, go back and play through ME1.
