Apparently if you are over in the UK and preorder it, you get...
The Lightning Samurai Set pre-order bonus

Edit:
Don't ask me why the page has a link to, and image of, Battlefield 4.

So I'm finally almost sort of getting caught up on my pay this Friday, so I'll probably go ahead and pre-order it then. I actually bought FFXIII-2 a few weeks ago, but I'm playing through FFXIII again before I start it up.

Since I saw this thread I wanted to bring up watch for the Steam summer sale you may be able to grab FF7 PC for relatively cheap (Its 11.99 normally). Even though im not a Huge fan of 8 i wish they would release the PC version with the pocket monster chocobo app. It really changes the game when you can get a bunch of free items by mindlessly leveling your chocobo (Also it turns the Chocobo summon into a powerhouse)

IIRC you can set it to auto and hold down a certain key goto work and come back with a ton of free items. I should go find my disks if i still have them.

Similar trick for FFX-2, which I wonder if they'll keep. Use rubber bands or something to hold down the X key and the left trigger pointing up. Run into a wall forever; you'll encounter fiends over and over. As long as at least one of your characters is a white mage using Pray nonstop, you should be able to live through the fight just fine.

See but here in the US we never got the Playstation Pocket memory cards (Think PlayStation variant of the Dreamcast digi memory cards) Very few games used it and FF8 was one of them, there was a little digi chocobo you raised and did very basic fights with you could find mombas and they would give you items. When you plugged the Playstation Pocket into your PS1 with FF8 Loaded you would get those items added to your inventory + your chocobo summon spell got stronger the higher level you leveled your digi Chocobo.

THe PC version had a seperate small executable that simulated the game.

Edit: As for endless mob loops, I know a few in FF5 and one in FF6 and one in FF7

This would work anywhere in FFX-2, because holding down the x button was sufficient to constantly trigger commands. Unlike, say, FFX where you'd need individual presses for each command.

otherwise you'd just need a turbo controller.

From the Steam facebook posting about this release:

Apparently the PC version of FF7 has crappy music, but you can download a mod called Anxious Heart that replaces the PC files with PSX or other OST versions of the game music.

I've seen them for the older systems, but never owned one. And I've heard about them for the newer systems (360, PS3) but always in the context of people using them to gain advantages in online multiplayer for CoD and the like. Apparently they put coding in to determine if the button is being pressed too fast and make the gun "jam" or stop responding to trigger commands. Usually for the powerful semi auto rifles that people would try to use the turbo controllers to turn them into full auto.

Not sure, I don't feel like paying 12 dollars for it right now. I'll probably grab it if it goes down to 50% off or 66% off. 4-5 dollars would be a good price.

I see almost 5% of people have already completed 100% of the achievement the game, I'm imagining they just downloaded a completed save file.

Or possibly already had the PC version, finished it, and bought the Steam key today.

Possibly, but I think a greater percentage just went to gamefaqs and downloaded a save file.

The idea being that 100% in FF7 takes more than a few hours.

Edit:
Seems that a lot more people are now buying the game, because achievement percentages are dropping like a rock. What was 5% is now about 0.1%.

Oh yeah, I didn't mean to infer 5% had played it on the PC already. I was just pointing out that there's probably a correlation between the people who had bought it already and the people buying it on Steam.

Fandom is as fandom does.
