Everything being way too easy to level combined with the lack of end game content might end up killing this game rather early. Coil is great and hard and all, but I'm quickly running out of interesting things to do. I really don't understand why they made crafting/gathering classes so easy to cap as well. With how we still don't have a date for 2.1, I'm starting to get rather worried for the game.

I wouldn't say they made things too easy, they just didn't make enough content. I'm closing in on my relic weapon, I just need Titan and 325 tomes to finish it. Not that I'm in a hurry, I got the spear from Garuda. But that's just one item, I still need to update all the rest of my gear. I would like to see more varied content. Instead of just grinding out the same dungeons for tomes over and over again, I'd like to see more variety in places to get them, or even gear drops that have nothing to do with tomes. There is Coil for drops, but that's the only alternative, and you need to have pretty decent gear before going in there anyway.

As to crafting, I really enjoy it, but I don't see a point to it at endgame. Melding relics is the only real reason to have a craft at level 50. Nothing that can be crafted is better than or even comparable to what you can get elsewhere.

I've got Gladiator at 32 with Paladin unlocked. Fisher at 50, and Mining at 35. I'm moving pretty slowly.

I think that they really needed to (or still need to) add a flag on items if it was gathered or created yourself and use that flag for crafting and gathering leves and quests. Being able to do various quests just by going to the marketplace breaks the immersion so badly. Like the final Fisher quest, too easy to just buy it. Personally I don't use the marketplace for stuff like that. All my gathering class quests I go out and gather them myself rather than buy them all and burn through them. Same as crafting leves, I don't just buy my requested gear.

Melded ilvl70 crafted items are better than darklight. And in some cases, usually with accessories, even best in slot. All of the best gathering and crafting gear is also made by crafters. Allagan drops from coil which you can only do once a week and mytho tomes cap at 300 per week, so you'll find that obtaining gear better than the crafted gear isn't exactly the easiest thing to do. Especially for secondary classes.

And crafting is most definitely too easy to level. It only takes me like 4 days to level a craft to 50. It's so easy that the market for selling items is **** because everybody and their mother can also easily make everything.

I foolishly leveled CUL to 50 first. It will be useful for other crafts, but having it at level 50 literally does nothing for me. No one cares to buy high end food, and thus mass producing the best ones does not even have a high profit margin for the amount of time invested to gather the mats (even with 50 BTN, which actually makes more money by itself just selling a couple of the high level mats).

If the high level food like HQ deviled eggs or HQ/NQ bouillabasse aren't selling what you could possibly do is try getting commissions from people. Have them provide the mats and shards/crystals and you craft them the food. I do this for free for people in my FC so that I can more quickly spiritbond the ilvl55 crafting armor in a chance to get t4 materia to sell or use. Stuffed t1 resist materia into it so that it spiritbonds faster too.

Hmm, that's not a bad idea. Also, any materia will increase spiritbonding speed or only specific ones?

The more it has the faster it will gain. Tier and type doesn't seem to matter.

Ended up getting FFXIV finally. If anyone's on Malboro*, I'm playing as Lyriana O'halloran.

*My roommate got the game before I did and wanted to be on the server that reminded him of his brand of smokes.

Question: Is there any way to report or ignore someone in game? I'm getting tired of a gil spammer. I went as far as trying to right click their name, so I'll probably feel silly for not seeing an obvious solution.

^ What Deadgye said, though make sure that if you're typing their name in manually, the quotation marks on either end of their name are required. So, to blacklist someone named Asdf Jkl who was spamming in /shout I would have to type
/blist add "asdf jkl"
. /blist add <r> works for the last person who messaged you.

You actually don't need the ending quotation marks for some reason. Simply having the quotation marks before their name makes it work.

Apparently, they just reported that FFXIV now has 1.5+ million "registered accounts"

So it seems to be doing well.

So, I'm a bit lost. After doing the emissary quest thingy(from the desert to the L place and the treeish place), I don't see any further storyline quests to continue on. Any suggestions on where to go to continue it? 16 or 17th atm.

Go back to the Waking Sands, maybe?

Upvote for a safe response! This is the answer to 50% of the story quests, maybe more. Always go back to Min! She sends you halfway around the world, then contacts you on that receiver thingy she gave you just to say, "Come back here so I can fill you in on what's been happening." Huh? Tell me now! No, you have to travel back to her, then she sends you back to where you were . . .

Actually, I think this is where you go back to your home city, which sounds like Ul'dah, so you can attend the party. Did you do that already? Open your quest log and look for the story line quest, I think you have to go upstairs? You need the earrings to get into the party and I don't remember where you get them. Cool cutscene - watch the general hold up the Sultana. They need to add that to the game as an emote or something.

EDIT: I think everything is spoiler material when answering a quest question.

Open the map and browse through the main cities/vesper bay to see if any of them have a quest node?

Tried that. Didn't see anything but that doesn't mean it wasn't necessarily there. I did use spot checks as my dump skill. Also already attended the party. I'm thinking I'll just go to the starters for each and every 15th level quest that doesn't look familiar to me until I find something.
