Well, Ultros is the ZAM non-Legacy server. I forget which server the Legacy people are playing on.

Yes it does. I don't remember if it's in system or character configuration but the option is there somewhere. Just for the record though, I didn't notice that much of a difference after turning effects off.

THe server is really busy best to make a character Late at night or early morning to get in. I havent had any queues or anything but had an issue making a character the first time.

Unfortunate. You should try not at peak hours. Once the character is made it's easy to log in.

Dang, if only I knew about this last night. I guess I'll just have to wait for server transfers. From what I understand they should be right around the corner.

They're going to be paid though.

How much progress have you made? It might be worth just starting over.

I think I'm at level 7 now. Not that much progress, but I'm not a fan of paying for the same real estate twice.

You can be sure that the cost of a server transfer would be higher than the play time it takes to get to level 7.

Seriously. Especially now that you know where to go Level 7 can be done in an hour tops (probably more like 30 minutes?).

I bit the bullet and switched servers after I was 18ish and had done some of the dungeons already so that I could play with friends. Seven is nothing. Make a character on a server with people you know so you can enjoy it more later when it really counts.

Apparently there's some drama llama on Ultros. Supposedly, one of the mods of the FFXIV subreddit is in a FC that is selling Titan runs, and there's a screencap of someone in their LS or FC making mention of sabotaging DF runs in order to drive sales of Titan runs.

Hopefully I find some time to log in tomorrow.

You can pst anyone in the linkshell for one. I had made everyone a leader...

Which reminds me that I should transfer Master to someone else in the shell, since I don't intend to be on all that much for the forseeable future.

Who wants it? As in, who intends to play the longest? Smiley: lol

Ah yes, the inevitable Zam "play for three weeks before the Zam guild becomes a ghost town" effect.

Three parties I've tried Garuda fight with. So far, no wins. It's not even that hard of fight, but people won't f*cking listen.

Oh, hey, that reminds me of another thing I actually really like about FFXIV. Guilds and Linkshells are different things. I put together a TINFS linkshell, which is essentially an organized chat channel and no more. Essentially, it's what WoW guilds were before Guild banks (and traits/whatever) were introduced.

Guilds are more similar to modern WoW guilds, and they can get player housing, etc.

It's really nice, because it means you can play/chat with all your friends on the server without ever having to sacrifice the level of content you want to do. Want to do hardcore endgame stuff? No problem. Most of your friends are raiders, and you just like leveling new classes? No problem.

There IS a Zam guild, but it's the people from the General FFXIV board so... you might not want to head there.

To be fair, it's definitely a more complicated fight. It's probably the hardest in the game right now, no? Excepting if you don't have the gear to do the hard dps race that is Titan. The group I cleared it on was definitely grasping the concepts, but it took a fair number of wipes to get us to a point where we were executing the strategy well enough to get through it.

That fight was ROUGH on me as a healer, because there's so much damage, and a lot of it isn't necessarily avoidable depending on your party setup. Trying to heal a Warrior tank was just way too hard on it; I finally cleared it with a Pld.

And because she has a melee AoE attack, a party with no melee DPS is way easier in that regard. Losing out on the melee LB is tough, but it's good enough if it means staying alive. To be fair, I didn't try it with a Drg, so I don't know if their range is far enough to avoid that AoE. But most Drgs I meet are awful, so...

Now, if you have people standing next to pillars, then yeah. Shame on them.

The first party actually had a lot of potential, but the healer dc'd and eventually came back, but by the then the tank was afk, ten minutes later, I gave up on waiting and left. The second party, the tank kept getting killed. I don't know if he was undergeared or if the healer wasn't up to it, but the tank was always the first person to die. The third party, the tank had no idea how the fight worked and just would not listen when I was trying to tell him to face her away from the pillars and keep her as far away from them as possible. On the rare try that we made it to her big attack that transitions into the second stage of the fight, we'd usually die to it because the pillars were getting raped.

Garuda is what, 44? You get like 4 pieces of AF at 45, so there's really no gear excuse.

I was trying it at 44 and it just wasn't working out. Though I was usually the last one to die, due to knowing the fight inside and out at this point, I just said to hell with it and ground out my way to 45 and picked up my AF gear. I'll try Garuda again tomorrow.

It's a tough fight to heal. That random AoE Garuda uses will interrupt casting, and your cast time on Cure is about 2 seconds. And I don't know if it's truly random or if she has a priority selection, but I was ALWAYS getting interrupted when there was heavy damage to heal on the tank.

If you're with a Whm, going OOM is another risk. Our mana efficiency heavily requires we get Freecure procs so we can cast Cure II for free. Extensive time without it is really going to show in our MP pool.

And because it's potentially so MP intensive with only one healer, Warriors can be a serious problem. Garuda has a LOT of burst damage. If you can't live through that, and have enough effective health to live through one failed cure and one completed cast, then you're going to go down. Regen helps with that some, by guaranteeing more health in the meantime, but still.

Because there's so much unavoidable damage in the fight, it's imperative that people avoid the dodgeable stuff.
