Well, that job list was intended to get every FF job into the game. I don't think it was intended to be really feasible.

Well they're missing a lot of jobs if that was the case. Some are small ones, sure. But others have been sufficiently big to deserve spots on the list, especially if they're going to be tossing in obscure ones like Necromancer (when was that ever a job???).

Personally, what I can see happening is the creation of sub-item classes. Say, a scope. When you equip a scope on a Gladiator, you gain the ability to learn Blue Magic, but lose all shield skills, and some of your other glad skills. When you equip the scope on an Archer, you can specialize as a Sniper. Etc.

I made a male mithra(Miqo'te), I dont like you cant switch the facial markings. Made it feel really limited. Do the different races have differing stats again? Honestly in this day and Age of MMO it seems really trivial versus back when FF11 first came out and you were choosing based on 1-2 stats.

I was thinking of human again, but if they let me change the marking I will probably make a Male Moqo'te again. If not probably a Hume(Hey I haven't learned the new terms yet and they are so ingrained I highly doubt ill ever learn the new ones. That's the dumb thing about them reusing the models from 11, no matter what people are going to associate them with the old names since 5-10 years of playing conditioned us.

Each sub-race has different stats, so there's actually 10 different starting stat options. It's pretty clear the gap isn't going to be as large this time as it was with FFXI. But I'll offer the same advice I've given since FFXI (including WoW) - choose what you want to play as, look at a lot, RP as, etc. If you need a tie-breaker, THEN start looking at stats. But I'm betting your enjoyment of the game will be better if stats don't drive your decisions. Particularly if you're not positive you're going to only want to do one thing (which really throws min/maxing out the window).

The general trend is that one of the subraces will be better in the physical stats, and the other will be better at magic. But I didn't look into if that was a hard and fast rule or anything. And I feel like I remember at least one case where Mnd, at least, was higher on the "physical" race. I remember there being a bigger gap between physical/magical subraces, than between races themselves. Like, the magical elvaan might have 22 int where the magical lalafell might have 23 or something. But the physical elvaan might have 18 int and the lalafell 19.

I feel confident the markings are a species standard, if we're talking exclusively about the ones near the eyes. Otherwise, each face option has its own set of optional markings.

It turns out that the reason FFXIV isn't on the 360 has nothing to do with the Gold thing. It's actually because Microsoft wouldn't let their players access a system shared with Sony. It's unclear if the PC was an issue, too. Kotaku and Yoshida were just using the generic "other platforms."

Quality post is quality.

Turns out that question of what do you seek actually determines a quest reward. Which is, overall, not that important. But this post ALSO has a breakdown of stats, which is super useful.

For instance, that Piety increases your MP pool, and that Determination increases all attack damage and spell healing amounts.

edit: Next time, don't forget the link...

edit2: Right now, these aren't unique, and are tradeable... so my first order of business will be to get a bunch of each and send them to myself. Starting out with a bunch more CP would be great (+10 to start with). I'll probably only bother getting the CP and Determination rings, and switch between them between my crafter/combat classes.

Well, I guess we delete the client after P3 is over, so I'm not going to mess with my UI too much. I just added a couple hotbars real quick and played with keybinds. I hope that P4/launch has options to change the scale of UI elements. My hotbars are just way too big. Though, I know there's supposed to be add-on support, so hopefully at the very least we get an add-on to handle that if necessary.

I'm not a huge fan of the size of the UI either, actually.

Then again, because my screen is only 1366x768, I'm generally annoyed by the size my UI. It's always too big or too small.

Yeah on my laptop it's @#%^ing massive. Three hotbars stacked at default settings on the bottom of my screen take up around 1.75" which is something like 22% of the height of my laptop screen. Smiley: lol I could do with reducing that by 50% or more. I really just need to see the cooldown timers.

Edit: The size of my hotbars in FFXIV and WoW on my laptop: link

From an interview with the producer of FFXIV: Link

Quote:
• The Secrets of Eorzea (SOE)
How will the user interface (UI) evolve? Will users have the ability to createmods, or interface elements, and to add them to their interfaces and share them with friends; how is that going to work and what will be the guidelines and protections against hacking?

• Naoki Yoshida (NY):
For the first 6 months after the release, we will focus on improving the interface based on players feedback. After these six months, we will provide the tools to allow players to create their own add-ons.

Honestly, we do not intend to adhere to strict guidelines for the creation of mods, we wish to leave the creative freedom to the players so that they can create and test new ideas. For example, it is perfectly possible to see the development of a specific UI for healers and one for the tanks that would better show who is getting hate, or improve the management of healing. Being too strict severely limits the imagination of designers and reduces the interest of mods.

On the question of security, there are of course concerns, there could be viruses or trojans on some add-ons, and this is something that users should be aware of and accountable for the risks in the use of mods. We also plan to work on a special website that will allow players to download add-ons that will be consistent without needing to check. But if, for example, a friend created a mod and there is a virus in it, we will not be able to help. There is therefore a risk that the player must take and remember.

Well, they'll probably have more controls than they're letting on, just to balance things with the PS3/4 versions. Just as a random example, using FFXI as a model, it would be an issue if someone created a mod that had an interface breaking down your various crafting chances relative to the day of the week, month, moon phase, direction and skill at that moment. When we're talking about the long term view, that could have quite the impact on a console crafter's ability to compete.

Or if something like boss alerts was created, which gave PC players clear zones to avoid, big alerts when to use their defensive buttons, etc. Console players would seriously under-perform relative to them.

But I suppose there's no use worrying until we see what happens.

Btw you guys Do know you can pull your hotbars closer together right?

Screenshot

Just click and drag that number in front of it. Yes technically they are overlapping in the hud screen but who cares if it gives the impression you want?

Well I have my WoW buttons scaled down some crazy amount. Smiley: lol

Though from that interview, I'm sure there'll be some UI scaling controls at some point so I'm not terribly worried about it. Not like I'll be raiding on my laptop anyway.

Boosted my GLA to 29, now to grind out that last level.

Edit: Smiley: lol Guess I should have read more closely. Advanced classes are in P3, but only for Legacy players who already had them unlocked. Smiley: lol At least I got Shield Swipe, though.
