Smash Bros for the 3DS? Are they really giving us more reasons to not buy a WiiU?

Is this true? If so, awesome. maybe they realize I was never going to buy a Wii U and wanted to sell me something for my 3DS.

That doesn't really matter. They sell tons of unnecessary accessories to uninformed consumers every day.

Man they pushed us to sell Monster Cable.... I'm a terrible liar and just couldn't look people in the face while suggesting Monster Cable, so I always went right over to the Acoustic Research cables, which are what I used for everything in my house.

Some other guys though, they could sell monster cables to an old lady buying a 19" TV and a VCR.

I guess I was a crappy salesman.

It'd be interesting to see a breakdown of some of these demographics. Well, provided it was in a nice, neat USA Today style infographic. I wouldn't want to put any work into it. But I've noticed you and I approach this differently; you thinking of the 20-something game consumer waiting outside Best Buy for a launch event, me thinking of the age 8-16 consumer who is getting this stuff because his parents bought it for him.

Don't know how reliable it is, but here is an infographic I came across:

http://www.onlineeducation.net/videogame

Looks like there are slightly more post-50 gamers as under 18 gamers, makes sense given how there are more people age 50 overall than under 18. That said, not sure if this is including facebook games or whatnot. Biggest demographic is 18-49, so not mom and pop buying the console so much.

Yeah, my understand on those stats is that it includes everything from Farmville to Spider Solitaire to Minesweeper. They're not a great indication of who's dropping console dollars.

The pretty pictures seem to infer 18-49 year old males for Xbox or PS3, and that those people are more likely to see little flames coming out of the top of the thing.

Smash Bros was probably the most exciting Nintendo announcement. I was holding out hope for a Wii U Pokemon that required you to quest from Kanto to whatever the name of this new region is, and literally catch all the Pokemon. Alas Nintendo never gave me a reason to get the Wii U, but made me happy that I got a 3DS.

Oh well....Guess Ill make it 4 generations in a row getting a Sony system at launch.

Nope, the director of the Smash Bros series even did a video demonstrating all three new characters.

If Nintendo would just back down and make a goddamn Pokemon MMO on the WiiU, they'd dominate... They say they don't want to do it, because there's a physical component of going out in the world with the pokemon you've caught, and battling/trading with friends. But with the GTN, that's already diminished. And it was never a significant part of the Western game experience.

That said, I haven't heard much from the Nintendo show that interests me. Pokemon changes look great, but it's not enough to get me to buy a 3DS. I have no interest in a WiiU, particularly not when all the next gen cross-system games will be leaving it out (as of right now), due to tech limitations. And, you know, this weird-*** controller they'd need to support.

Losing access to Zelda is going to hurt - it's probably the first game series I ever really followed. But to be honest, I never finished Skyward Sword. I don't think I finished either of the DS releases, either. They just haven't been able to hold my attention in recent years.

I'll never play it, but the idea of fighting as the Wii Fit instructor cracks me up.

We're one of the many, many homes that bought a Wii Fit and used it for about 17 minutes.

Are we still talking about the XBone?

Don't have an always on internet connection? Stick with the 360 (i.e. don't buy our next-gen console).

I may get a Wii U when that X game comes out (Xenoblade team). Maybe by then the price will be lower.

I'll much more than likely be getting a PS4.

Not seeing any reason to get an Xbox One yet. Unless Microsoft pulls a move like Tales of Vesperia with the 360 on the next gen... but I somehow doubt it. I got a 360 because of how slow PS3's release and few years of a lack of classic RPG style games.

I believe The Dark Sorcerer is just a tech demo? The old-man face was shown at the original PS4 event without video, so this was the first time we saw it in action. I have no idea if it's an actual game.

I wonder if there is any truth to this, and if so...I guess desperate times call for desperate measures.

Considering the budget they announced for exclusives, I would not be surprised.

That said, they need to be offering a LOT of cash if they're going to stop a company from hyping a system they're releasing an exclusive for.

It also shows how bad they, and the devs, consider Microsoft's position. If they accept, it suggests they're confident in a high return on PS4 sales and are trying to buff up X-Bone sales so they make more profit there.

It's not a good sign if they're being thrown a lifeline this early in the game.

From what I heard they're not paying them to not show the games, but if the game is cross-platform to not mention that fact at all and just mention the Xbone version.

I didn't watch all of it, but I know for a fact the Need for Speed game shown by EA was being played onstage on a ps4.

The 3DS is a fantastic little time waster. With the backwards compatability with DS it has a massive collection of RPGs to play through, nevermind you can now play all the gameboy/colour zelda games on it as well.

Obvs it isn't a vita, but I play it more than any of my other non-computer gaming systems. The newest fire emblem alone makes the system worthwhile. Mario Kart (which you can play online as well) is a great addition, and I am really looking forward to the new Shin Megami Tensai game coming out in July (preordered the special first edition - which looks hawt) as well.
