I brought my 3DS with me to Kentucky and had it sitting in Standby in my hotel room while I was at work. I noticed one Street Pass, a person named " 'l " from Anguilla... Not sure how it determines where they are from, but that seems pretty far away.

It's based on the Region Settings in the Profile section of the 3DS Settings Menu, that location gets attached to your Mii when it's sent out.

When I was in SF in October for a conference I got several international streetpasses. A couple from Japan (there was a large Japanese contingent at this conference) and a few from elsewhere. Could also have been from the airport.

I think Bioshock Infinite is still up, as well. Have to say that PS+ seems to be on the ball a bit more as far as more recent, well-received titles go than Xbox's Games With Gold has been.

Aren't Xbox's games yours "forever" (life of Xbox service, I guess) though? You keep the license if you stop having Xbox Gold service.

Dunno, but for $30, I have BioShock Infinite, Borderlands 2, DMC3, and a whole bunch of other titles for a year. Pretty solid.

Brothers seems meh to me so far. It's just a puzzle game with an annoying control scheme... is that all? I mean, it's a beautiful game, but having to control both brothers independently is just hurting my brain.

[EDIT]

And that's only from December to mid Jan. We still have another 11 months of games (though of course the length I have later titles is reduced).

Still, ending up with Bioshock Infinite was a nice surprise.

The terrain gets pretty varied. Some stories and mini-stories unfold. I did not sit and play it all the way through, just took it in chunks

Some decent prices on some Playstation titles starting tomorrow.

http://blog.us.playstation.com/2014/02/24/back-to-2013-sale-starts-tomorrow/#sf1945877

A Wolf Among Us for $8.99 (PS+) seems like a pretty awesome deal. The first two episodes have been great.

Diablo III for $35.99 (PS+) is pretty decent, too. The console version is really well done. They did an excellent job implementing the controller, and the itemization is much improved over the ******** that was D3 for PC at launch. Also, there's couch co-op.

Probably wouldn't be worth a purchase, for me, until that was fixed. Though I think I know some people playing it on the PS3, so maybe.

The story is pretty bad.

Well, the story would be alright if the dialogue weren't so terrible. Probably the best story elements are the follower's dialogue options, and in the banter that goes on while running around playing. The actual main story is suuuuuuper hamfisted.

There are other things I greatly dislike. When coming up to a boss fight, there's a (skippable) cutscene before you fight. These encounters would be much better if there were no cutscene, if you just entered the room and the boss attacked you. You already know you're entering a boss's chambers; there's no need for the cutscene to break things up.

I doubt they're going to fix the story that is already there. I'm very interested to see what they do with Reaper of Souls, as far as story delivery goes.

I guess I'm not making much of an argument to actually buy the game, but I've had a heck of a lot of fun in it, especially with couch co-op as an option.

Necro: Sorry didn't want to start a new thread.

PSN Weekend 5 Dollar Flash sale:

GTA4
Red Dead Redemption
Max Payne 3
Bioshock
Bioshock 2
Guacamelee
LA Noire
Midnight Club
Darksiders
ArcaniA Complete
Fat Princess
Datura
Mortal Kombat (2013)
Duke Nukem Forever

And a few others.
Also the Golden Week Deals

I know some of these are on PC and may have been cheaper but if you don't have a gaming machine this is a good price I think and there are a few console only games in there too. Figured I would toss out the heads up.

With all these relatively good deals lately is Sony finally wising up to the digital market?

Edit: Also Sony sucks for pricing Zone of Enders HD at 10.49 and not 10, I picked up a 20 dollar card and Im 50 cents short and cant just add 50 cents.

Not really for me. I personally dont see that big of a differance in graphics or gameplay or even titles to get me off the 360/PS3. Its not like the jump from Xbox to the 360, that was a lot more of a major jump all around and made it worth it. I will probably wait till it drops another 100 or so to buy it.

XBox One cost $100 more than PS4 (base models) because XOne had Kinect included. But rather than people seeing that as some value-added thing, they just saw an extra $100 price tag when picking a console. So Microsoft removed the Kinect to bring the system to technical & pricing parity with the PS4.

I'll buy a Vita around that time, or when Tales of Hearts R is released.
I'll buy a Wii U when the Xenoblades successor comes out (When ever that is, still don't follow release dates).

I'll buy a X1 when... not sure yet.

The Kinect was the really the stupidest thing MS could have done, it's that simple. They built their entire next gen console around what was essentially a paper weight. Sure, the original sold well, but was almost instantly rendered a dust collector. Only a couple of games used it properly, and those games didn't sell well. Some genius over at MS thought that if they forced it down the throats of everyone that bought an x-one, then maybe game devs wold start utilizing it. Except that most people don't want Kinect, don't need Kinect, and quite frankly, don't trust Kinect. MS was stuck with a console that cost a hundred dollars more than the more powerful PS4 because they didn't want to lose money on the camera. It was inevitable that they release a Kinectless x-one, it was just a matter of time.

Everyone wants Kinect, it just needs to work before people realize that. It's evident with Siri, Google Now, and Cortana, the voice controlled living room is something people will absolutely use. MS had to force it on people in order to get enough adopters for developers to develop games for it, and justify the continued development that is going into it. Unfortunately they've shot themselves in the foot once again by going after the immediate numbers and not sticking to their long-term plans.

Even if the theoretical support of what Kinect could offer is something a majority of consumers want, that doesn't mean the Kinect was a sound idea.

For one, there's a serious design issue with Kinect in the current market of cross-platform games. Devs aren't going to put too much energy into really utilizing the device, because there's no reason to. Not when it's not a peripheral the entire audience (or even a solid majority) will have. Even if the Eye offered a serviceable base level for them to offer support at, not enough PS users will own an Eye to make that worth it. So we're really only talking about console exclusives here... and console exclusives already have a lower potential market. Having to experiment with a new peripheral input system when you're already working with lower potential sales is not that attractive.

But then there's the fact that the Kinect ISN'T what people want, per se. Sure, having the ability to control things by voice isn't bad. More options is always nice. But I'm not desperate for it either.

I use Siri because there are times when manually doing what I need would be really annoying. But a huge part of that is the fact that my phone has a small screen, my input ability is minimal, and I'm often moving while doing it. None of these are factors with a gaming console right now.

And the rest of what would sell Kinect is the motion gaming aspect and, well, I'm sure that market COULD exist. But I don't think we're technologically at a place where it could have been a big selling feature this generation. Give it another decade, and I wouldn't be surprised. I'd be very surprised if it was this one for the non-casual markets.

If arcades had a resurgence on the backs of motion-controlled games, I think you could see a push for it in the home video game market. I know plenty of people who bought DDR mats for their consoles when it was huge for a while. I just don't think it will really take off on its own, though. At least not for a while.

Apparently, some number of PS3 PlayStation Now (game streaming service) closed beta codes have gone out. I'm somewhat optimistic. Obviously some twitch gameplay games won't work well since there is going to be some amount of input lag, but there are plenty of games I think will be acceptably playable.

I'd offer to buy it for you but I just bought two for myself and my brother. How far from the U.S. border do you live? If it's close try shipping it to a local FedEx or UPS pickup location. If not do you have any family/friends in the States you trust?

I don't want it ENOUGH to go through that much trouble, but thanks for the ideas!

I figure eventually Ninty is going to have to start price slashing in order to get a bigger install base or they will have a devilish time getting 3rd party games. Considering I basically want it as a slightly more comfy/legal emulator, its not on my must have now list.

And, I just looked at the games they have in the actual Wii U shop and it's sort of sad. I don't understand nintendo. Just put them all in the wii U shop, don't trickle them out.

I abused the **** out of some big deal purchases online for Xbox Live Microsoft Points a year or so ago. They were permanent when they were Points, but they just got rid of Points and went to a real money wallet. Of course being the jerks they are, they put an expiration date on the wallet. Now I have 21 dollars sitting in my Xbox Live wallet with an expiration date, (dumbasses...) and need to find something of value to spend it on.

Dark Souls 2 for $38.99 is a really good deal considering how recently it came out. While it's fairly common for PC games to drop to that range quickly enough, it's often not the case on console. That's the kind of discount sale that will help push the digital distribution on consoles. It's still $60 new and $55 used at GameStop.
