I played about five hours, did Industrial Revolution and bought the Season Pass, found out the rewards are in the bar, restarted, and just beat the game this evening.

Wow. What a trip.

Only quibble I have with the graphics is the stock NPC models could be a little more detailed in the face. The women especially are a little mannequin-like when compared to their surroundings. Certainly makes Elizabeth stand out though.

Speaking of, I was watching stuff last night about "building" Elizabeth and the story of how some girl put together a cosplay outfit based off the early concept art and the developers happened to see the photos and were so taken that they contacted her and had her serve as the face model. Pretty cool little story and certainly makes the photos of the young lady seem a bit freaky.

As a final note, I really need to remap the aim button to RMB and Vigors to the center button. About 65% of my Salt usage is accidental, either trying to aim or just resting my finger too hard on the button and sending crows out to attack a barrel of apples.

Those apples had it coming, what with their ritualistic attacks against the medical practitioners.

The game looks a bit rough on PS3. Rougher than the original, I'd say. Lots of screen tearing, low poly characters, and poor textures abound. I can look past it, thankfully, but it is noticeable.

Haven't made it very far. Just through the first combat section of the game. Liking it so far - particularly the very first bit of the introduction (the mysterious rowboat part).

Upgrading your crows to make crow traps is win. I was in a place where guys were dropping down from the rafters. I crowed up the first group and popped them while they were getting dermabrasion therapy. Then the next group dropped down right into the crow traps, repeat. Really saves on salt if your a murder fan.

Of which I am.

I never found the pistol and machine gun upgrades, where were they located?

They're in the bar, unless you load it after you've aquired the weapons. If you have, when you requip one you'll notice its golden; which means you have it.

Took about 15hours, but I beat it on hard & explored every corner I could. I'll wait a bit for more postgame discussion but if you've also beat it:

So it's basically Floating city- Oldboy - Fringe, right?

Let's see if picking a different necklace changes anything...

According to the season pass notes the golden skins for the pistol and machine gun are separate from the actual free ugrades. Since I never had one of the normal skin guns I cannot tell if the gold ones have more ammo or lower recoil, etc.

Jah I am ~4 hours in and taking my time to savor everything as much as possible. I have been exploring every nook and cranny for stuff and have found some nifty upgrades that way. (Like my big boy pants that make my melee weapon catch people on fire) (The melee weapon seems very strong when you get rushed) Also I enjoy listening to gramnamaphones, or reading the propaganda.

I was a bit annoyed to have to throw out full ammo pistol to try the shotgun as well but I can get over it.

Finally I think I have been playing to many free ecchi MMO's. (Scarlet Blade, Tera) Because when: The sign said "Specimen Location: Dressing Room" I was like alright alright giggidy. Then I opened the slide window and went.Smiley: frown

Hardly unprecedented. SpecOps was, what? Six hours? Darkness II was maybe 7-8 hours.

Granted I wouldn't want to pay $60 for that length but both of the other games I mentioned started at $50+ as well. That and I didn't pay anywhere near full retail for any of them.

I did think both were good games in their own right and am very happy with B:I so far. I'm not sure if padding their stories by making me shoot more bad guys would really make the games better. I guess it depends on what you're looking for out of the game.

It appears 1999 mode is going to take longer. Also, post "twist", a lot of little things said by various people makes a whole lot more sense. It should definitely warrant a 2nd playthrough if you want the ending to make a little more sense.

The time. For a full game that seems really short.

It's less a game and more an interactive story/movie. It could easily have been made 3 times as long with "fetch this, return here, kill things" quests (ala any elder scrolls game) or, worse, "travel here along a very similar path killing very similar things for a while (ala HL2). It's just not that game. It's also exceedingly linear, there are no real "choices". Knowing that going in (which you should, really) it doesn't detract from the game at all, for me, so far.

I don't doubt it's a good game. I just prefer my games to last longer. It just isn't for me, at least at full price.

Which is fair. Had I paid anywhere near sixty bucks for it, I'd probably be annoyed by the length. But then I'd have never paid sixty bucks for it 'cause that's how I roll.

It's getting to the point where I won't pay $60 for much. I paid it to the Torment kickstarter, because I'm getting a ton of "free" stuff with it. I paid it for Skyrim and Mass Effect 3, because I had no interest in waiting. Other than that, I can't think of the last game I actually bought at launch... Wait, that's a lie, I bought Dark Souls. But no clue what else.

Moving to PC gaming has seriously spoiled me. And ruined me. I've been wanting to play Morrowind for 2 months, but refuse to pay $20 for it when I know waiting will bring it down to at least $10...

As for the length, I definitely won't pony up $60 for a 12 hour game. I probably wouldn't pay $30 for a 12 hour game, unless I was confident it would be fantastic.

Since when? For a non-RPG it actually clocks in a tad longer then most games. Almost every game I've played in the PS2 era on, unless its an RPG, usually takes 6-20 hours long, for an initial playthrough. Its one of the reasons my wife loves me having Gamefly (prior to pc deals) and hated me buying games, I would beat them in a day or 2 and move on.

Action games (DMC, Infamous, Bayonetta,GTA) average take about 6-12 hours to beat, same with most FPS.
RPG's take 20-100+ hours.
Now mind you these are initial playthoughs, where you may be learning the game etc, not find everything, and most of the time dont spend time grinding. Sequential plays yield lower times because you dont have to relearn anything your used to it. Even on the harder difficulties mostly.

I don't pay full price for those games either, for the exact same reason.
