Couldn't find a thread on this so forgive me if olde news is olde.
Saw an IGN article about this and sat through a painful ten minutes of toilet humor jokes to get to the gameplay and opening movie footage.
So I went to the official website and poked around. I mostly like what I see, with some caveats.
Character design, opening movie, art: Fantastic, this looks great, let me play it now! *itchy fingers*
Gameplay: .... This looks like WoW at higher resolution. *fingers stop twitching immediately*
The art direction is similar to WoW, shunning the realism that other games have been trying for in favor of a cartoony, Disney-esque style in the characters, and a dreamy landscape background not unlike that done in Journey. (Reminds me a bit of the Dreamland Chronicles, actually. Hmmm I wonder...)
Anyway. I'm gonna sign up for the beta. Maybe I'll be pleasantly surprised.
