I would play more, but I found out right after trying to use my new video card that I needed a more powerful power supply to run it while gaming. I was able to use my PC for simple stuff, but the power supply just couldn't handle gaming. The new PS came yesterday, and I've actually been playing the new Tombraider, which is pretty **** good so far. It reminds quite a bit of Uncharted, which is probably the best exclusive series the PS3 has.

This makes me happy that I let obsessive compulsive Zam geeks teach me how to build my comp. Their advice? Buy a way more powerful power supply than you need right now so you can upgrade later.

I started the new Tomb Raider and liked it so far but I've been sick the last few days and crashing out by 6-7pm or so. So I haven't played anything since the weekend.

New tomb raider is tempting me.

Oddly enough I am just kinda pushing myself to complete Batman Arkam City. It's just not grabbing me like I thought it would. It's enjoyable enough sometimes but some of the puzzles and prolonged stealth engagements with gun dudes are more annoying than fun.

Neither Batman game really grabbed me.

When AC came out, Flea bought it for me for Christmas. She gave me the package and said "I looked around to see what the big new game was and got you this". My mind immediately said "Skyrim!" and then I had to hide the fact that I felt like the Simpsons episode where Bart gets Lee Carvallo's Putting Challenge instead of Bonestorm.

Also, I knew she had paid way too much for it since it was a retail box and was currently on Steam Winter Sale for 50% off. I think that part made me feel worse Smiley: frown

Ya see the thing is I went through a Batman phase in the 90's. We watched the animated series like it was high* art and my buddy had a collection of all the best stuff like "Killing Joke" etc. *(because we were high all the time back then)

So I almost feel obligated to like it. I mean it's neat. I like flying around the city and being all brooding on top of gargoyles. But there is a part of me that has moved on and some of the magic of the early discovery of the characters and storyline is gone.

Plus some of the game-play elements are just overdone. There seem to be way too many riddler puzzles and random explodable walls. I just can't be assed to hack, explodey foam, electro motor power **** every 2 inches of the game. But it hurts my OCD sometimes to just say F it that often every map while trying to get to more fights and story.

Also guys with guns rooms make Batman seem like a wimp. One part of me appreciates the bat ninja stealth of it but Batman should not get shot so easy. Especially since the best way to clear them is kill one, smoke around the room on the statues and do that 4 more times. It just gets kinda tedious.

Take the fighting in Sleeping Dogs in comparison. Similar counter, dodge combo play, but I can smash dudes faces into a telephone booth and everyone enjoys that! Oh and just shoot guys with guns. I know that killing is Batman's hang up and he has deep issues with guns though... so yeah.

This.

Bought AA on the Summer sale, and AC at the Christmas one, or the other way around... either way I like both of them but this is the main reason I don't play.

Out of curiosity, how does one get the keys to lockboxes, anyway? I have a metric **** of the **** things sitting in my bank and it's bugging me.

On a related note, how hard is it to make money at end game without abusing the cash shop? I was listing some random greens on the AH and decided to check out some of the higher end cloth robes, because, as I've said before, I'm in this game for the pretty dresses, and most of the higher end ones were at around 600g. In vanilla WoW, I made around 20g an hour farming Dire Maul ogres or essences, and if that's around the rate I'd expect to make at high level, I'm not sure I want to spend 30 hours farming even for the prettiest of dresses once I hit high level.

Keys are like 20 for 10 bucks on the Store, and I think you can get some from events, not sure though. You also get keys from subbing. I bought 1 key with the spare I had from a $10 purchase I bought 1 7 day 100% exp boost 1 7day 50% exp boost and 1 key, opened a chest and got a ruby that NPC'ed for 100 gold.

You can also buy keys from other players with in-game currency. Prices seemed to be around 75-85G/ea, but during the event they are much higher. It doesn't seem that you get any keys normally in the game. At least GW2 gave you a key every once in a while.

The keys I had I received from the Valentine's event and a few as compensation from server outages when the F2P conversion happened. Aside from things like that or buying them via the AH, you need to pay cash for them via Elite Membership or Cash Shop.

You can just throw the things up on the broker if you're so inclined. They're selling for a couple gold a piece at the moment.

Did anyone play hide-and-seek with the GMs? I caught the tail-end of the event after work, but didn't have enough time to get involved.

They drop so often, I didn't even think of that. If they all sell, I should be looking at a rather tidy profit.

They don't usually sell for much, as there are so many of them and so few keys for the most part. However for the next couple of days they're dropping extra stuff for the holiday, so their prices are abnormally high.

Edit: I see we were talking about this already, and in retrospect I was fully aware of that. THIS IS WHAT HAPPENS WHEN THERE IS MORE DAY THAN COFFEE! Smiley: motz

CR can be rough. You need to DPS those skeletons with that AoE sh*t down really fast, and the boss that spawns clones can wreck inexperienced players. There's one other room I hate, where it's a bunch of lancer mobs that if the pull is too big, there can be lots of trouble.

I'm not burned out on it yet, but levels are taking much longer to progress through on my Zerker (level 47 right now). I might work on my Lancer or maybe even my Archer. Warrior kind of started to disinterest me, with the shadow clone ability.

Also, I might invest in some of that alkahest that is dropping in boxes. The market is flooded, and if I am around in a month or two, I imagine the prices are going to go back up and I can make a tidy profit.

Yeah, I played through it a lot on my Slayer so I knew the drill. Last run, we only got as far as the first boss. Players rushed in before I could drop motes, largely ignored the motes I got down, adds all attacked me and no one bothered to try and aggro them off or burn them down. After my second death, one player kept saying "resheal" which I finally figured out was him trying to tell me to resurrect myself and heal him (innovative plan, thanks for sharing) so I had to inform him that unless he wanted me in Tulufan, hitting the res button on my screen wasn't such a good idea. This was the same person who gave monosyllabic commands for the obvious the entire run ("aura", "heal", "mote"). But it was more communication than anyone else had.

The run before that, we cleared everything except the cloning boss. He ultimately beat us down but my biggest issue there was the slayer who kept staying glued to the tank's hip, forcing me to split up my healing a lot more than I should have had to. And, naturally, said slayer refused any understanding of the whole "mote" concept so I had to actively heal him.

Both times were exacerbated by a low average level (36.x) and probably undergeared people.

Gear is so cheap and gold is so overabundant. I usually have a set of yellows waiting to go at whatever the next significant upgrade is.

Also, it's really sad, but I'm better at blocking on Zerker than most Lancers I've grouped with. I mean, they did a fairly good job of telegraphing damaging moves.

Fairly certain I'll need some levels before that happens, but I'm working on it. I played for several hours yesterday and nobody from the guild logged on.

Alas, the reason I've ditched my mystic for the time being and just gone with my priest to heal stuff. Other people paying attention isn't something I like to depend on, and the priest is better at compensating for short-bus quality groupies.

I finally figured out their clothing customization, so I'll probably be distracted playing dress-up for a while. The result is something that's more standard fantasy gear and less stripper outfit. There's actually some decent less revealing stuff in there if you hunt around for it, and a range of dyes as well. It didn't cost more than 20g to put together any of the outfits, and the Archer was under 5g.

I bought a really stupid game this weekend. It was called furnace or inferno or fire place or something like that. It only cost $5 but it was only worth about 2 cents.

It's cheesy **** like this that make me so skeptical to put out even 5 bucks for a game that I've never tried.
