I have a DA:O disk around here somewhere but have never installed it. Having never played anything in the series I should ask: Is it a good game? Should I install it?

A couple games for me:

Witcher 2: I'm finding it very mixed thus far. The whole notion of using potions before combat seems flawed - It's hard to prepare properly when I don't know when or how combat will be occurring, and I find the system tedious to begin with. Too many important abilities seem to be locked away down the talent trees, so I feel kind of neutered, and the spells and abilities don't seem to bind or activate properly for me. I set combat to Easy and have decided that I'll button mash my way through the game for as long as it'll serve; I just don't care about the combat.

They killed the most interesting character in the game in the first couple of scenes (Foltest), and seemingly the second most interesting character a few scenes later (Aryan La Vallette) and I'm having trouble warming up to Geralt and his quiet form of rogueishness.

All that said, it's a beautiful game, it takes its lore seriously, and there's a veritable ton of voicework. I like the world and the characters I meet, I just wish everything else was as enjoyable.

You can't do anything about Faltest, but La Vallette can be saved if you make the right choices. As to game play, I agree about potions, which is why I didn't use them much. The only time I used them was when I knew that I was I about to get into a fight (usually because I died and had to try it again). I found the best thing to do is to concentrate on the sword path and dabble in the magic. I thoroughly enjoyed my first play through and want to go at it again but choose to side against the squirrles and see what I missed out on. I just have so many other games to play.

Hmm...I had saved him earlier; I was under the impression that he went and blew himself up a bit later in the dungeons.

Also, just once, I'd like to play a game where elves aren't a racism metaphor stand-in.

I'm currently chewing through a backlog of Steam games to reduce the pile in case the FFXIV rerelease is actually good enough for me to get. Currently working on Saints Row 2, which isn't nearly as good as The Third. Next comes The Witcher. At some point, I also need to finish Kingdoms of Amalur.

My WoW subscription has lapsed as the expansion didn't bring back the people I would have kept the sub going to play with.

I won't be getting Aliens: Colonial Marines now. Despite being an Alien fanboy, the awful reviews are just too much for me.

That & its just over two months until my wedding & I should probably save the cash...

That looks more like an homage to Spaceballs than Aliens!

Through Raptr Rewards:
Ubisoft has teamed up with Raptr to reward diehard PS3 gamers. If you are ranked Dedicated or above in Assassin's Creed III and have successfully earned the Uniquely Familiar Trophy from the new Tyranny of King Washington - The Infamy DLC, you are eligible to earn one of the following from the Treasure Trove at random:
Assassin's Creed III Hidden Secrets DLC Pack
Assassin's Creed III Battle Hardened DLC Pack
Assassin's Creed Revelations
Assassin's Creed Revelations Ultimate Edition
Assassin's Creed Brotherhood Ultimate Edition

I found that reward actually decent.

SR2 had a more enjoyable story and replay value imo. Third was flashy, fun but just flashy.

So far, I've only taken down the Samedi and am halfway through tearing up the Ronin, but I haven't seen anything I'd really want to replay. And I'm definitely not a fan of the whole "Respect = Access to missions" mechanic, mostly because I'm not enjoying most of the diversions. It usually ends up with me just doing a bunch of drive-bys until I can do a few missions, then rinse and repeat.

On the other hand, the complete lack of seriousness most of SRTT has just really endeared it to me. I played through the DLC with the clones several times just because it was so entertaining.

WoW - I resubbed for guild reasons (nobody's playing GW2, they're all back in WoW) and because I missed healing. I stayed because I am obsessed with the farming. YOU WILL NOT MAKE ME FEEL ASHAMED.

GW2 - Playing less and less of it as I'm doing more and more WoW again, but still love my necro.

Reading - For the whippersnappers who have never played this old-fashioned game, it's a low-tech virtual reality RPG for a single player. Strictly tabletop, but no dice.

I haven't played WoW in a month or so, but I keep forgetting to cancel.

I got to the gear treadmill where I had already run the 5-mans copious numbers of times, but still only had access to the first RF raid. Grinding rep got boring and I stopped logging in.

I'm in the same boat with GW2, I still like it but none of my 3 guilds ever seem to be populated, so I have only been logging in for the 20 minutes or so that it takes to do my daily and get that 1 laurel towards...well towards whatever (probably an ascended item, or kitty von snuffles whatever).

I started the Tera: F2P and it's actually been quite a fun game, so I found a copy of the game when I was in Fargo yesterday so I could get the founder status (seemed fair for $30). I can safely say that all the 'Elin' rp in that game will one day cause me to snap and go more hostile, but until then it's kind of fun.

I haven't seen much RP of any stripe, much less Elin RP but the general (area/global) chats are a constant stream of "LOL Elins!!!!!"

I don't play on the RP server though. I'm sure the Elin *cough* "RP" there would melt my eyes. And give me a case of the Erpies.

Elin's are silly, but the Castanic womanz r gud. I suppose I could log in to my maxed out female Castanic War just to mess around with freeness if I cared. Or was out of games.

Neither of these conditions have been met.

My Castanic slayer is teh hawtz.

She gets a fair number of drive-by pauses. I think it's because she has dark skin with goldish-orange hair which is a different look than most of the pale-skinned characters sport.

Finished Dead Space 3. I really enjoyed it, though I completely understand why one review said it'd be a great game if it wasn't labeled as a Dead Space game. I don't really mind the action-y, less scary feel to it. By this point, Isaac is an old hand at killing necromorphs, and so is the player. That said, I still really enjoy the atmosphere of the first game most of all. Playing that in the dark with the surround sound on was one of the creepiest experiences in a game for me.

Did you find the battle against the Death Star as unimpressive as I did? It was more like the Poseidon Battle in GoW 3 than a actual boss fight.
