I just got a call from my local EB games, they say I can pick up my copy anytime now. Is this usual? I know the stores usually have them well before release date but I thought they sat on them until the actual day of.

Nope, it's not unusual. Apparently game stores outside of the lawsuit happy U.S. have no problems breaking the street date. Smiley: glare

Oh man this makes me want to buy a 3DS. I used to love Fire Emblem on my SP.

I don't often pre-order so I wasn't aware. That's a neat bonus. I used to never really pay much attention to what was coming out when...

I played the demo, it was quite good. I've actually never played a fire emblem game, which is sort of surprising since I love tactical RPGS

If it's like the GameStops here in Florida then if a person, usually the manager of the specific store, doesn't call you might not get it. I pre-ordered a Wii U and got some automated call from GameStop Corporate to pick up my system. When I get to the store no one had a clue why I was called but the manager okayed for me to grab it ahead of the 43 infront of me to recieve on on the wait list.

I could never get into the Fire Emblem series. I love tactical RPGs, but something about it... just... didn't work for me. Maybe I should try again.

When I heard this game was coming out I nearly flipped my lid. Been following fire emblem ever since it came state side.(Only game I failed to get into was the remake of the first two on the ds... Something just didn't sit right with me,) This is the game that made me go out and get a 3ds(Good thing gamestop was offering a bundle package with a collectable fire emblem ds:D:D:D) Free DLC Map so long as you download it early enough too!:O

The fire emblem 3DS is really nice looking. I have the legend of zelda special edition DS, which is also cool but the fire emblem one is slightly better looking imo.

I think it's having a 3ds that got me into preordering, prior to getting it I didn't have any "current gen" gaming systems. Now that I do I am always slobbering over the next release.

I find this sort of incompetent and hilarious.

Fire Emblem: Awakening Missing From Store Shelves
Missing just about everywhere - except the eShop.
by Richard George
February 4, 2013

Here's an interesting twist to the release of Fire Emblem: Awakening, which has an advertised release date of today - you're going to have a tough time buying it anywhere other than the 3DS eShop.

Though hardly scientific or comprehensive, a quick search on Amazon, Best Buy (site and stores) and local GameStop stores yields the same result - the game isn't available yet. Our local GameStop store told us that the game is due to arrive tomorrow, while Amazon itself blames delays on "manufacturer shipping delays."

A quick trip to Twitter yielded clear signs of confusion, with many replying that no store near them carried the game. Reasons ranged from a 'pulled release date' to some store employees insisting the release date was something entirely different than February 4. Some stores claim to have copies of the game in stock, but reports of anyone actually being able to purchase the game today are few and far between. (A few readers have said they were able to secure copies that were in a store's inventory but not out on display yet.)

Nintendo itself is being vague, with the following statement:

"Nintendo makes every effort to make sure its games and systems are available at retail stores nationwide on launch day. Sometimes, because of the variables of shipping, different retailers receive their shipments on different days. Fire Emblem Awakening can be purchased right now from the Nintendo eShop for Nintendo 3DS."

All of this comes on the heels of multiple reports claiming Canadian stores broke the Fire Emblem embargo days ago.

Have you been able to find Fire Emblem: Awakening in a store? Help your fellow Nintendo fans and let people know in the comments below. With any luck someone somewhere will be able to buy this game on its release date.

Same here. I love strategy RPGs but for some reason Fire Emblem never clicked for me. I've been considering getting this new one though and trying again.

OH MY GOD IS THAT NINO<3333333333333333333333333333333333333333333333333

Typically characters don't get married settle down or have a joint story until the end of the game with the proper supports. So unless they changed that aspects you gotta beat the game first with those people having a support with each other!

no, if any two units reach S rank they get married automatically. Only males and females can form S rank bonds with each other. I'm not sure how children work yet. Nino is a bonus wifi character that you can get to join you by paying 6K or something. Unfortunately since she is an eihinerjar (can see the glowy aura around her) she can't actually form bonds/doesn't get dialog/doesn't show up in the barracks. These screenies are from outside the main game, it's not really anything to do with in game.

She is a pretty famous character from another game. I am not surprised. And that's interesting... Hopefully my 3ds arrives soon!
