Beta signups are live.

This is, admittedly, sooner than I expected.

I put down enough information to have an above average chance of being chosen. If I get it in, I'll be sure to not tell you about any of it. NDAs and all.

No thanks, all my MMO money is currently feeding my Steam addiction. Can't afford to get hooked again.

I filled out the application then stopped when I read this:

Quote:
Why should you choose me as a beta tester?

I could not think of a valid reason.

Signed up... my answer for "Why should we pick you":

You probably shouldn't, but I plan to try to break every thing because I find it fun, and would love to bug report it.

Yeah, as I was writing out my list, it was impressed upon me that I've beta-tested some real crap in my time.

D3 really? I know it isn't some stellar game (mediocre comes to mind) but crap? I don't know if you have been getting into some really good mmo's, lying about playing better mmo's, or just talking crap about the game because it didn't fulfill your wants and desires for what the game could have been.

On a side note I wonder how the reboot of FF14 is going / has gone.

D3 was quite clearly rushed to release. With the systems they have in place now, I suspect I'd be still playing if it was released this way. Of course, PVP has still not been released. Probably my biggest issue with it was that after completing each difficulty level, you couldn't just freeroam and kill whatever you wanted whenever you wanted to. You were stuck replaying the story chapters/acts. It gets really old after a while. I don't know if they've changed how that works or not.

Anyway, while not really living up to my expectations, I still feel I got enough enjoyment out of it to justify the money I paid for it. It might not have been as great a $/hr value as some other games but I don't think the final product was so poor as to rate it "crap" unless you're using one of those fancy rating scales where 9.0-10.0 is good-awesome, and 0.0-8.9 is crap.

So, how hard do you guys think this game is going to flop?

I like that they've built the F2P transition into their business plan so it looks less alarming when it happens.

Well they'd be awfully stupid not to have a plan in place. All it takes is a glance at the mess Bioware/EA made switching TOR to F2P to see that. I just don't think they'll successfully be able to bring the feel of an Elder Scrolls game to a MMO. I imagine it'll just end up being generic high fantasy MMO #27.

Speaking of, here's a trailer:

It's all CGI though, no actual game play to be seen.

I'm going to try this game so I signed up for beta (for the chance of gaining an advanced opportunity to nab a few of my standard names).

My hopes for some decent rvr and pvp, but I'll probably be satisfied with a nice butterfly collection.
