I didn't want to necro an old thread, so I thought I'd drop an update on anyone interested in this PS3-only game. Personally, I'm not really into JRPG's but this game does look like fun for those of you who are.

Also if you care, Gamespot had a two hour livestream last week where they pretty much just sat, played the game, and talked about it. Link is here to watch if interested.

This looks like playing a Hayao Miyazaki movie as a video game. I'm down.

You have to heal often? That sounds like a lot of work...

Back in my day, JRPGs didn't heal you to full after every battle!

Disappointed that the Demo is timed, rather than just a set limit to the missions. Running around exploring the area and noticed a little timer by the mini map. Smiley: frown

I do like the interaction the character has with the map. Running along and there's a log on the ground, he hops up onto it, then does a little tightrope/balancing act as he walks down it. Fought a big forest creature right off the bat, little living doll guy shows me the ropes. Shortly after, I run off down the path, and it branches. One direction is my destination, the other is something else. I take the other path, a few fights, treasure chests, etc. But run out of time before I can get back around to the actual destination path.

Monsters seem to respawn quickly. I killed a few of them, picked up a chest, turn around, and there they are hiding in the bushes again.

I'm curious about the game, but wasn't overly impressed with the demo'd stuff they had available at E3. The premise hasn't grabbed me, and the environments seemed a little bare. Haven't checked back on it much since then, but I'm certainly eager to impressions of the new stuff.

This may be the game that gets me to buy a ps3..... That and the backpay I am getting on my next cheque. It has monster battling and collecting!

Also, the people that work at gamestop are terrible at selling me things. I will probably buy my system elsewhere just to punish them for having such terrible taste. I was being a flaneur there yesterday, and the girl at the counter is watching the terrible trailer for what looks to be a terrible game, aliens or something or other with lots of machine guns (yuck) and was all positive about it... Then the trailer for this game comes up and the girl is like ugh...this game looks so stupid... And I was like... Huh, it's the most compelling reason why I would get a ps3....

And instead of using that comment to salvage anything at all from the conversation, she continued about why she thought this game would be bad. Anyway, I get that she probably makes minimum wage... And so has little incentive to care... And that of course people can have different tastes in games, but for a min wage job there are much worse places to work than a videogame store (it's cleanish, no toilets to clean ever)... And I feel like if you work in retail you shouldn't badmouth your product (unless say, it is something truly bad)... But this was the same girl who told me not to buy a wii, that they were garbage blah blah blah... Even though I told her I basically wanted it for playing at parties (mario cart!) and watching netflix...

I mean here I am in a store, that sells something I want, and the sales clerk is saying that the product is so bad I will sh-t myself. I mean really. So I bought my wii used, which was a good decision regardless, but honestly, I can't believe she even has a job there.

And... Sidetracked, but seriously.

The local Gamestop here isn't like that. It has a few employees and their friends who hang around who are into JRPGs. I went in a month or so ago and bought Last Story and Xenoblade Chronicles for the Wii and the guys were pretty enthusiastic about how great the games were. I bought Golden Sun DS some time last year and the guy selling it was really interested in that game too.

Some could just be an act, part of being a good salesman, but they seemed pretty knowledgeable (fan type of knowledge, that is) about the games in question and at least they were not berating the games you were after right in front of you, a potential customer.

Man, you could get a copy of Xenoblade Chronicles? Theyv'e been sold out forever here. Sadface. It was actually one of the reasons I grabbed a wii but I haven't been able to bring myself to buying it for around $100 on ebay yet.

Gushing review aye? Still I think it will be the first Ps3 game I have bought in a while. :) Looking forward to it.

Apparently Gamestop still gets fresh stock in occasionally. But it's kind of random. Keep an eye out, and put the word in at your local Gamestop. It sounds like people camp out their local Gamestop just to buy it and resell it for +50$ on Ebay.

I went and preordered Ni No Kuni yesterday, and will be playing it on Thursday after work. The heart system reminds me of Avalon Code's code system. I only played about 10-15 minutes of Avalon Code. I hope it ends up being used well. Like not just for story progression but for unrelated side quest stuff or even just for fun. (Make a random grumpy old man have the energy of a little kid he was complaining about just for laughs or something?)

Digital River successfully charged my card $111.86 for the Wizard's Edition earlier today from my 7/1/2012 preorder. I'm super glad since I have heard many bad stories about their service. Now I just have to wait for it to arrive in the mail. So tempted to go out and buy a copy of the standard edition, but still playing Borderlands 2.

Really, really, really, really excited for this. Most anticipated game this year. It even slightly edges GTAV, which is a goddamn huge accomplishment in my book (not counting Watch_Dogs).

I got an email from Amazon saying my copy shipped today and should arrive tomorrow.

I love free Amazon Prime (linked by a family member) which gives me free 2 day shipping.

If you have a student email (secondary school), you can get six free months of Prime. You don't get access to the instant video during the trial. I ordered so many things with free two day shipping over that six month period, I wasn't even mad when it autobilled me for a year renewal. Now I get instant video too. One of my favorite premium services. Release date shipping is sweet too.

I'm getting a little frustrated at how slow movement feels on the overworld map.

You can upgrade your running speed with the reward card system. I didn't get it yet so I'm not sure how much of a difference it makes.
