You might be thinking of when Spider-Man kills MJ with his radioactive sperm. I should probably read all the posts before responding.

So thanks for the questions guys. We used Spoonless' verbatim, and incorporated some of the other stuff into the general discussion topics.

Appreciate the input!

I haven't listened to this one, but I'd wager it's a bit awkward. We didn't have our host, so it started out a bit stilted. Then we lost like 30 minutes and had to rerecord. Meh.

Episode is in the signature, if anyone's curious.

Hey, I do my best, but you're really gonna want to listen to Elkcast for that sort of fare. They record on Tuesdays.

I'm sure everyone's quite tired of me, but we're recording on Saturday. Then I'm off for the next few weeks to do the whole wedding thing, so y'all get a bit of a reprieve from the Smiley: spam

So once again: anyone got a question for the podcast? I think we provided something resembling an answer to all the previous questions (except Joph's trolling ones, but we all know he's just acting out because this thread takes attention away from his endless GOG-shilling).

Since THQ's stock dropped to nearly $1.75 a share, do you think purchasing stock in the company is a good idea?

Since Silicon Knights lost their lawsuit against Epic Games over the usage of the Unreal 3 Engine licensing fees, they have been ordered to destroy any remaining copies of their games that used the U3 Engine and pay Epic $9 million in awarded fees. Do you think this is wasteful, or should the profits (if any) from the sale/auction of the remaining copies should have went to Epic to pay off part of the money owed?

Was the cake truely a lie?

Bumpage an' whatnot, since I'm back. You know the drill.

Last podcast of the year. Would anyone like to ask anything? We got a couple from other sources this time, but they're on Kickstarter stuff, and we've hammered that topic pretty much to death. Wouldn't mind a few on other subjects.

Why are you calling it quits? No listener base? Too time-intensive?

Pretty much. I'd certainly like to keep going (podcasting is fun!) but the powers that be have had to do all the editing and posting, and the numbers just aren't high enough to warrant the effort, I gather.

Perhaps I'll see if anything can be done for it a little later on, when I'm a little more entrenched.

Any of you guys have an iPad? If anyone does, have they played Baldur's Gate: Enhanced Edition? I'm sure I could look up some written reviews, but I'm pretty curious as to how the transition to tablet has gone. I'm eagerly awaiting the Android release if and when it ever comes around.

Honestly, I'm not sure how much steam you could garner through podcasts alone. You'd probably have to branch out into some Let's Play videos, tutorials, etc. and play up your individual personalities. The short videos bring the audience in, and they then seek out the podcasts to get more content.

I like the site itself; it's very clean and inoffensive. That said, to bring in more of an audience to make the work of doing podcasts and videos and whatnot worth doing, you unfortunately have to branch out more into social media, be it Twitter and Facebook, or sites like Reddit.

Agreed wholeheartedly; these were ideas that I brought up back when I started on it. Management wasn't really behind 'em, though, so unfortunately nothing's to be done for it. I'm a fairly recent add, too, so I'm not about to start ruffling feathers by telling 'em how to do things.

Really, I'm impressed enough by the state of the site: it's aesthetically pleasing, ad-free, and the readership is impressive. That's no small order, especially considering the size of their team; I'm not surprised that they don't have time to manage a podcast, too.

Perhaps when I'm more established there I can take the podcast under my wing and grow it. We'll see...there's no rush.

Yeah, I just think that it's difficult to grow a podcast for a podcast's sake. With a podcast, you're selling yourselves as the product, and without enough other product available (preferably in smaller bites - editorials, videos, single-panel webcomic, etc.), you're not going to find a whole lot of people are going to listen to a bunch of dudes they have no prior attachment to ******** about games for an hour.

Really, I see a podcast as a relatively low-cost form of content to string your customers along in between higher-cost ventures. I know there's editing and whatnot to do for it, but it's less work per time unit than it takes to produce a good Let's Play or tutorial video. So if you release a bi-weekly 10-minute video, you do a podcast on the off-weeks to keep the users coming to the site. I think you really have to have bite-size content to rope your target demographic in.

The only way to grow a podcast on its own without doing the other content would be to get some significant names on there for interviews, and to ask good questions, and to advertise that so-and-so is going to be on your podcast. Establish yourselves as posters on r/gaming (or the more serious, r/games). Don't just drop in when you have something to advertise.

Anyway, I think it's possible to have a successful podcast; it's just not something that's going to sell itself.

It's settled then. You'll be joining me on the PodcastCast, the bi-weekly segment in which Spoonless and Eske discuss the intricacies of podcast production and marketing.

Also, we prank call ZAM admins.

"This week on the PodcastCast podcast, the gang prank calls the admins on Zam.com, pretending to be Alla and Illia, in order to try to gain access to admin notes about some of the more elusive figures at Zam!"

The following day, administrator LockeColeMA was found dead in a ditch, having suffered from what can only be described as wombat bites. It is now speculated that LockeColeMA was the PodcastCast podcast duo's source of inside information, having believed their ruse.
