I had been really interested in this game in the lead up to its release, but then I saw the lack of larger marketing and early reports of some issues with the game... It spelled trouble and I didn't have the time to play to justify a sub. I may consider getting this now, can't be worse than guild wars 2, really didn't like that one.

Popped in the game today to play one of the issues I haven't played through, Issue 7.

A part of it has you go into an area called "The Nursery" that's kind of creepy, especially when you take the time to read through the notes in the in-game computers and realize what the background of the place is.

Then you hear this lullaby constantly playing while you're there and... it's really catchy. And it really fits the creepy nature of The Nursery.

I bought this game for $15 awhile back during a sale. Was not able to get into it. The game just seems too redundant for me to enjoy. I really like the creepy theme and all but the gameplay seems lacking.

I was going to buy it, since it's still on sale and I've been curious for a long time, but I couldn't find a benchmark for it. Don't feel like chancing it.

If you can play FFXIV, you can play TSW.

XIV is much better optimized IMO, I push 90+FPS most areas in XIV on max settings and am lucky to get 60 in TSW. I haven't played in a while so maybe the optimization has improved but not 100% sure. I've never managed to get too far. Love the atmosphere but the gameplay gets reduntant quick. http://www.systemrequirementslab.com/ does have it on their list. Would give you a general idea.

Any recent opinions on this? The game looks quite interesting, but the general consensus in this thread appears quite negative.

I bought it for $15 about a year ago. I played it about 2 weeks and got bored real quick. Very redundant.

Ok good to know. This is one that I was interested in checking out, but may have to scratch it off my list. Too bad, it sounded like quite an interesting concept, but it appears as if it lost both its funding and a large portion of its development team.

It's also worth noting that the company isn't in the best place, atm, legally speaking. I wouldn't be surprised if TSW gets shut down by the end of it.

I wouldn't want to start a MMO if I thought there was a high chance it would die that fast.

Disclaimer: I generally don't care for games that are *popular* for whatever reason. Never tried WoW because I could not abide the cartoony look of it. Got to 29 in Rift and uninstalled it, 18 in GW2 a long time ago and haven't played it since, 13 in SW:ToR and haven't logged in in months, though I do like the story aspect of it. Part of it is that I'm utterly sick of the high fantasy genre and, perhaps, a little too old for it now.

That said, I've played TSW since launch and enjoyed it immensely. The voice acting, story telling, atmosphere and missions top anything I know of.

It's very dark and grim. Also many of the npcs curse with no way to filter it. If you're looking for rainbows and unicorns then it's probably not for you. Issue 5, the Tyler Freeborn stuff, is still the creepiest thing I've ever seen in a game. Issue 6 was an Indiana Jones theme and was great, Issue 7 was more James Bond but all with a Secret World twist.

As of this post the User score on Metacritic for TSW is actually higher than the User score for GW2.

The sheer amount of clothing and outfits in the game is staggering. It's extremely rare to see two characters that look alike.

Funcom is not any kind of legal trouble. All that's about a former CEO accused of insider trading.

Every character has access to every skill and ability in the game so you are never locked into a role. Gear is completely customisable and most, if not all, of what you're wearing at end game will be items you made or modified yourself. You have complete freedom in your builds and that includes the freedom to gimp yourself horribly because you did something silly or didn't know what you were doing. TSW forces you to think or to copy someone who did. That could be a plus or a minus depending on the person.

The crafting is very straightforward and simple. If you're looking for an in-depth tradeskill system then you won't find it in TSW.

There are tons of Easter Egg type tidbits relating to popular culture all throughout the game. Big plus if you like that kind of stuff.

Video of a raid that's part of the story leading up to the next Issue release:

Great fan made trailer put together from some of the cgi trailers:
