So I've been playing it casually since it came out Tuesday, and it's pretty much fun. I only say that because I've spent most of that time swinging around Manhattan collecting items. Web slinging across town is really well done, and it never feels like your web is sticking to clouds. Sometimes you'll plummet almost into the ground before your web connects to something and you're sent sailing through the skies. Not only that, but it's tough as hell to do so through Central Park, which is how it should be. I can't really note on the story because I've kind of been ignoring it because the game came out before the movie and since it's supposed to happen after the movie I don't want to really spoiler myself out of raging about how it isn't 616 enjoying the story.

Combat is pretty simply, as the Beenox Spider-Man games have been. Pretty much one attack button, one dodge button, and a web button. My biggest complaint about the last game was addressed, though. The last game lacked the "Metal Gear Solid" type game play their first game had with the Noir chapters: You'd sneak around a stage and take people out slowly one by one. That's back, and I'm more than happy to sneak around just to do that.

I had read on imdb that Bruce Cambpell's voice was in the game somewhere, and I had psyched myself up to believe he'd be the narrator like in the Spider-Man movie tie in games before Beenox took over. He was hilarious in those games. So far, no narrator and haven't heard him anywhere so I'm kind of disappointed in that. Also, Stan Lee is supposed to be digitized in this world somewhere, and I'm keeping an eye for him as well. Also, it seems that most of the voices aren't the actual actors from the movie, which I guess could be an issue with some people but I don't really mind it myself

One thing I don't really like is that when you're swinging around Manhattan crime doesn't seem to really happen randomly. So far it just shows up on your map, you swing there, take care of it, and that's it until you complete a story objective when new stuff pops up. I mean, I can swing around town for hours with no real objective (and I have, just randomly collecting items), but it just feels off that it doesn't happen randomly.

Graphics are good, combat flows pretty well even if it's simple, the voices don't make me want to mute the television. Overall it isn't a Skyrim or Mass Effect 3, but I'd still suggest this game. I'll probably buckle down and actually play the game instead of just swinging around town next week after seeing the movie.

According to IMDB Bruce Campbell plays the voice of Extreme Reporter. Also, for a quick 2 minute check, there were only 2 of the actors in the movie also voicing for the video game. Emma Stone and Rhys Ifrans.

So beat the game a few days ago. I'd still suggest the game, but a couple of things cropped up. First, once you beat the game that's pretty much it really. You can go back to try to 100% missions, but the overworld Manhattan part of the game where you're webbing your way around only has a limited amount of things to do and once that's done that's it. Would have been nice if Snipers, Car Chases, and Muggings were unlimited and randomized.

The more I webbed around the city, the less it felt realistic. I know it was something I said was, but after a few trips over Central Park it felt less and less so. When going around buildings and such still felt perfect, and you're still pretty much ground level over parks and such, but over all I think you use pigeons to get over parts that you shouldn't be able to swing around.

Found Bruce. His missions were kind of fun, but I wanted more. There seems to be more missions than lines for him. Oh well.

Anyway, this was basically Batman Arkham with Spider-Man.
