@#%^ing pisses me off to no end. And I'm only at the first boss. Smiley: oyvey

I'm very close to giving up on this one. I thought I'd give the motion controls a chance, since I figured I really wanted to play this Zelda game. But five deaths and a couple hours of "wtf" makes me not want to even try anymore.

Edit:
Oddly enough I popped one more fight, and finished him without taking a single bit of damage. Very annoying controls none the less.

I haven't ever played this game the controls turned me away from it completely. This is the first major Zelda release I didn' preorder and purchase. When I saw first Major I mean for Major home console (not counting the handheld ports).

I'm in the same boat. That said, I know there were a lot of my friends that got it and loved it, and I've even seen a lot of people on here talk about it. It did get across the board rave reviews, but that doesn't really mean much. (What reviewer is going to give a Zelda title a bad review?) I'd be interested to hear what some of the others have to say about it.

It's one of those games that isn't as bad as a lot of people who say it's the worse make it out to be, but isn't as good as others who say it's the second coming make it out to be.

The controls can be frustrating to anyone who didn't instantly take the motion controls or particularly enjoys them. I personally took onto most of the controls for link quickly in this game besides two things. Skydiving(Which still doesn't make any @#%^ing sense to me) and flying your bird.(Which took me half the game to master) Which really put a damper on the situation as your trying to travel in the over world and you hate every 2 seconds of it becuase of it.

As far as the first boss, I highly believe nintendo drop the ball on this one. He should of been boss number 3 and the other two bosses should of came first. He only, personally, took me three tries to beat, I implore the op to take a deep breath. Back out, go buy some meds come back at least give the game a chance. On that note, I would just like to point out that this game is challenging. No not becuase of the motion controls, but in general. This is the first game in the series where i ever, EVER had to regularly carry potions on me. OoT, Majora's mask, twilight princess, etc all I needed was the fairy before the boss to handle things. This one several times I had to head into a dungeon with every bottle filled with a potion and the and the 6th boss I had to leave and come back with a fresh stock of potions. (The first boss the massive stock of hearts in the room where enough for me. Once he brings out his sword btw it's much easier to just catch him while he swinging or deflect his swing with your shield to damage him btw.)

The only other big problem with the game was nintendo was so mesmerized by the whole OH MY GOD YOU CAN CONTROL WHAT DERICTION HE SWINGS that almost every single @#%^ing enemy in the game involves a mastery of it. Because of that there a disappointing lack of variety in regular enemies. Also they managed to make a new support character that is more annoying then Navi. The game also gives up on the last 1/3 of the game which has a series of challenges but completely lacks in any form of a dungeon or anything.

To close this post on a good notes though. The use of a central city as a hub made it so every little npc there had a personality and you legitmently started to care about them instead of a good portion of them being forgettable unless they had a quest involved with them even then they lacked a personality. The upgrade system was enjoyable. They have an array of new weapons all of which are creatively used. Instead of that bullsh*t twilight princess pulled with some of the later items being used mainly only in their dungeon.(That @#%^ing disc thing being the biggest offender since I enjoy the hell out of it in it's dungeon but it was never used like that again) And of the 9 different bosses in the game(Going to count repeat boss fights as one) 8 of them are all unique and challenging. And they really used the travel to the dungeon for the first time apart of the challenge of the dungeon. Instead of your just traveling to a new area maybe solving 1 or 2 puzzles. Helping the locals in an easy quest and oh btw this is the way to dungeon off you go now which seemed to be the way twilight princess and OoT liked to have it.

At the end of the day though, I'll have to admit it's properly the worse Zelda game I've played. However just keep in mind, it's the worse of one of the strongest series in gaming, it's definitely not the worse game out there.

My 2 cents

What was annoying is the response of the controls. I understood the concepts behind the fight, but couldn't get link to do what I wanted.

I had to fake him out, yet holding the sword one way, then attacking from the other didn't happen as smoothly as it should (in the sense that since it's required or you basically die, it should happen as smooth as can be). You know what's annoying? Accidentally unequipping your shield right before you use your 1 shield repair potion and having it not do anything. Oh, the button to use a potion and equip/unequip your shield is the same one! Good luck getting link to counter attack the bosses slash charge with an attack instead of a shield block/bash. I succeeded once during one of the earlier fights when my shield only had one hit of durability left and I figured I'd try it. Even getting him to bash at the right time was frustrating at times.

The boss was surprisingly difficult and the basic moves/counter attacks were unforgiving for how accurate they had to be to land a hit. Especially for him being the first boss. I do think that the difficulty level is not so much actually difficulty as it is getting controls to do what you want.

I'll admit to the first two deaths being my lack of understanding of the fight mechanics. But after I found out what I needed to do, the next 3 fights I lost were just frustrating lack of coordination between me and the Wii. I'm not giving up on the game yet. I think it will go better now that I'm past this first, very large, hurdle. Now that I understand the downfalls of the controls a bit more I believe I'll be able to compensate for them.

Also, I didn't think it was possible but this little sword spirit is more annoying than Navi. I have to explore the options and see if there is a way to make her stop popping up with slow talking every time I do things like open the diving to the surface world menu. Yes, I know you can choose where you want to land, I've done it two dozen times already.

Don't let the controls fool you. I play this game with barley moving, that 1st fight with Grihim (or however it is spelled) was hard for a lot. I think I died 5 or so times and actually was getting PO thinking I was not going to be able to play this game because the motion control was not for me. Then I went all nerdrage on him and he didn't touch me and realized the fight was stupid easy -.-
Maybe you have fought one now if you are a few hours in: 4 armed Bone warriors can be a pain in the ***, as can the Hydra monsters ><

And get use to the spirit chick, Nintendo has said they made her more "annoying" for a reason: to make sure the right info is given. One day, probably never, they will let you pick settings on a Zelda game.

This was far more entertaining when I misread it to say that you pooped before the fight, and then finished him without taking damage.

Link was pooped on, shortly before the fight. Does that count? I was trying to kill those birds flying around outside the temple area. So far the only way I've been able to hit them is by flying the remote control beetle into them.

Quick question: Is there a way to lock onto a target with the slingshot like in OoT. So far doing a target lock while drawn only locks my camera to it, not the actual cross hairs.

I don't think so to the "z-lock" system of old. Just pull back, aim, and hope it hits :p

I found it being that way very useful when I wanted to concentrate on avoiding an enemy close to me while shooting down archers bothering me from afar.

Of course I was very use to it since Metriod collection had a similar lock on system without the gun locking on it can be useful if your controls don't fight with you.

Aye. I know I could be "off" and the game would land the hit. A shaky hand would stop head shots ><"

When you get the Bow, if you have played any of the Archery game on the Wii Sports...the fast pull is the same motion, or you can pull up the bow and it will just take a few sec to get to full strength.

And if the controls are a little off, you can re calibrate any time during game play. I know I had to do that a lot.

And I REALLY need to finish this game...maybe next weekend >.>

Just a heads up. Do the thunder dragon last during the dragon challenges. It's glitched unless you do it last.

^.

This blew up all over one of the zelda channels i follow on FB a while ago. However I've read Nintendo knows about it and has something you DL to fix it. Being I have the snazzy game guide, I didn't take that path 1st :p

For the record, it's not just doing that area non-last, it's doing that area, then walking out and talking to the Goron who dug the tunnel for ya that will prevent other areas from triggering. Still an annoying bug, but avoidable.

The game has grown a bit on me. I'm not very far in, but have about 14 hours or so. Just found out yesterday that I can sell materials and bugs for rupees. But was disappointed to learn that the almost 100 Deku hornets I had were only worth 1 rupee a piece.

The only thing I really want to do and haven't found yet is center my wiimote when using the sword or flying. The way I sit comfortably in my chair makes it difficult to point the almost straight down needed to do the speed boost while flying. I hold the wiimote up at a 45 degree angle or so by default, and would love it if I could set that for the game to be flat. I tried calibrating the wii motion plus at that angle, and it didn't do anything.
