Any other interesting developments with this game? The D3 hype has certainly died down and, really, it only served to make me more excited for TL2.

Supposedly next month? (I keep reading August in the forums).

I'm patiently waiting for it.

Well, it's out.

I've played a couple hours. I definitely like it (more so than D3 in the end). The thing with this game genre is the loot makes it. And while I haven't played D3 in forever, the loot game just wasn't there. Fighting bosses and getting cool loot from the get go. I fought the first big boss and got a cool looking horned helmet that actually gave me stats that I could use. Plenty of side quests, little mini quests you discover while exploring. The Phase Beasts that open portals to special challenge areas with good loot.

Loot's where it's at, and TL2 seems to have done it correctly. The story, I haven't progressed through very deeply yet, but I don't expect it to be breathtaking. I'm only expecting it to guide me through the world.

Im not far but my first character was on Elite. I decided that the game was too hard just before i made it to Grell, about level 10 or so. I rerolled, same class (engi) on veteran and the game was vastly different the second time around. Random maps of course, but also random side quests.

It does what i want from the genre and couldnt be happier with my purchase. It's hard balancing time between that and borderlands 2 tho :(

I've got the same issues I had with TL1 (though I only played that through preordering TL2), information paralysis. I go to a shopkeep and there's a bajillion items all blocked off, making it impossible to sort through the ones I CAN use. I find a retrainer, think "oh, so I can try ability combinations to see what I like" and there's a big warning they only let you do 3 skill points. Stat allocation has the same problem; I don't know what they expect me to need.

I don't like the "change your mind about something, make a new character" approach. I like to jump in and make mistakes, but the no-turning-back approach magnifies the consequences of those mistakes.

you can either do that already through the console (might flag you as cheater) or will later via mod. I like the no respec thing though, myself.

I just got into this game last night. Now I can't stop thinking about it. It is miles more fun than D3.

I got pretty far but never finished the solo campaign. It's on my list of things to go back to at some point.

I very much enjoyed reviewing the Beta; one of the only games that didn't feel like a chore. Dungeon-divers aren't really my bag, but this was pretty good... I'm thinking about picking it up at some point when it's on sale... and after I finish the Skyrim DLC, Witcher 2, the Assassin's Creed games, and everything else I have on my gaming to-do list Smiley: tongue

It is a great game, but I expected the modding tools to be released a month or 2 from release and they are still not out. I won't be going back to it until then. I think my Outlander is level 75 or something.

yeah I was pretty shocked that they hadn't delivered on GUTS yet myself. I'm like level 11 so it isn't like I need mods to continue enjoying the game at this point but I'm hopeful they don't just drop it or something.

Also, Locke, I bought it cause it was half off. Yey cheap games.

Looks like GUTS and Steam Workshop came out today.

It's all on the list, I don't think it's an April Fools joke...

Oh cool. Yeah I know it's weird but I wasn't really into any of the class options and one of the big things I'm hopeful for with guts is more classes. I'd actually like a "certified broken" class so I can just plough through the game mindlessly.

most classes have a 'certified broken' mindless build option, plus you can play on easy.

Prismatic bolt mages, glaive outlanders, etc.

Personally I don't see the point in any of that...

I am playing on easy. And it is easy. But I'd really like a character I don't even have to think while using, just to zone out a bit. I'll have to look up those builds... it's really hard to tell what is the best to spend points in from the tooltips . Basically I want something so overpowered I don't need to do research to make it overpowered.

Just because.

yeah so put one point in prismatic bolt for a mage and just spam that over and over. stack focus. scales very well and costs very little mana.

Ok, I had been stacking focus because if FFXI taught me anything it is that putting points into more than one thing will make you bad at everything (hello, RDM)

You can always use something like this to respec your character, if there's a build you want to try out.

Engineer seems pretty OP to me. I'm level 43 on him and with rank 5 healbot I almost never need potions. It constantly tops off my mana and health. Plus I have 2 bubbles that absorb damage on a relatively short cool down. I have tried both SnB and 2H an d they are both fun. I like the shield bashes but with a good 2H weapon you just level everything.

*and dynamo field into overload means I don't have to aim if feeling lazy and it wrecks groups.

elite difficulty?

I love the idea behind the engineer, and I intended to make it my main but I really got sucked into the outlander.

Im playing Necromancer on elite right now but I might have to take it back down to vet knowing how much tougher NG+ gets.
