PSA: Diablo III Open Beta WeekendFollow

It's interesting to look at some of the enemy abilities that have been leaked. Some bosses will have enrage timers, which have caused some hullabaloo (the example given after things blew up was if the SK summoned triple the number of enemies after a few minutes, not win buttons). Then there are enemy abilities that sound like WoW stuff. Rotating beams of arcane magic, fire pools appearing under the player, champion packs who gain a new ability every time one dies, fun stuff. I want an enemy to have Flame Wreath, and for them to publish a count of how many hardcore characters have dies to it.

Since this goes live tonight at midnight, and I've read very little about the game itself, which class is the healing class?

There isn't one. The closest you'll get is Monk, and you won't be really fulfilling a healing role. It's more like you can choose for it to be a small boon.

There isn't much healing in the game. It's more "don't get hit by the enemies" and all classes are closer to a DPS class.

Nope. Beat 1 several times, never finished 2.

It's mostly just a hack n' slash dungeon crawler. You can certainly focus on multiplayer strategies if you want, but you'll be spending more time using CC abilties than healing. Monk will let you use an aura to buff your allies, though, as well as do some AoE heals (if you glyph your abilities that way). Barbarian also gets war shouts for AoE buffs or debuffs, which have some nice group synergy.

Really, any class does. Monk just has slightly higher potential at group support than the others (from what I can tell). But it's really going to come down to how you play them. You can definitely argue that spawning three zombie dogs to take heat off of other players is just as valuable as the ability to use an AoE heal, for instance.

Plus, every class gets AoE support, if I remember correctly.

This just in, Blizzard is footing the bill for all the Aussie gamers that pre-ordered Diablo through the GAME retail chain before they went into Administration (Chapter 7 Bankruptcy). Here are the steps you need to follow to get your free copy.

Blizzard Announcement per Kotaku wrote:
We're aware that some Australian GAME customers have been left out in the cold on what should be the hottest night of the year — the launch of Diablo III. To help with this situation and get these players into the game as soon as possible, we've put the following process in place.

Australian GAME customers with a valid preorder/prepurchase receipt dated before May 15, 2012 can do the following:
1. Purchase the digital version of Diablo III from http://www.diablo3.com now or anytime before May 21, 2012.

2. Download and start playing when the servers go live!

3. Submit your GAME Australia preorder/prepurchase receipt to us before June 30, 2012.

4. Receive a credit from Blizzard, for the amount you paid in advance to GAME Australia for Diablo III. This credit will be applied to the payment method used for the digital purchase.

We'll post further details here on how to submit your GAME Australia receipt to our customer service team as soon as possible. Stay tuned, and we look forward to seeing you in the Burning Hells!

Wait, is that true? Most people stop after Normal? That doesn't make sense to me, in virtue of the type of player that would be attracted to a dungeon crawlers. Unless we're going to count the people who never even finish Normal, since the number of players who clear games is actually a really small percentage of the players who buy them.

What I'm GUESSING is that Normal, Nightmare, and Hell are like in D2--split up so that you are designed to hit cap by the time you kill Diablo in Hell mode. Inferno will be truly difficult as a result, because you stop scaling with the mobs so well.
I usually get bored of the replay right around Kurast. I've only finished nightmare once just to say I did.

Apparently D3 has a desert in act 2. The moment I enter a maggot lair I'm quitting the game.

Don't equip your Templar follower with a shield, or else you will be locked out of the game until Blizz patches it.

From what I've played so far, to do that, they've basically skipped everything non-essential. Can't log in to check my play time, but I'm probably around 12 hours on my Demon Hunter and not in Act IV yet.

My only real complaint at the moment has been the server stability.

You ******* can add me. Spoonless#1122

Barb is fun. On normal, it's been really easy to cheese the purple and yellow mobs. I think I can basically have all my abilities proc stun, so I haven't had any issues so far.

At 19, I really like the 2-handed weapon setup I run for crawls. Cleave glyphed for extra Fury per enemy hit. Rend glyphed to restore my health. Leap glyphed for extra armor on use, and the grapple hook shooting 3 hooks out. Leap, grapple, and throwing axe really help with the stupid flies in Act 2. I tend to prefer Revenge (especially since you can glyph it to return 5 Fury and 8% of your health per enemy hit), but the gap closer of grapple is really good. Frenzy is fun, but I don't like the Fury generation.

I like the decisions you have to make between skills. Do I use Leap as a gap closer, or do I use the AoE stun ability?

I might play a Monk next, or run a S&B Barbarian. I was thinking I could play a Monk dual wielding daggers or something, but I haven't really looked into it.

You guys can add me, I haven't had much time to play as of yet but I'll probably be on more these next few days.

Battletag: Bean#1570

My 'best' character atm is Barb at 15 near the end of act 1 I'm guessing.

Well on the bright side I didn't die on the DC, not sure how I managed that. I did die later on in Act 2 when I popped my Diamond Armor on a group that was beating on me only to be surprised when even more creatures spawned leaving me without my Diamond Armor, no where to run, and eating dirt within 2 seconds.Smiley: laugh It's been a while since I died at a game and it gave me the grin I had last night. That's probably what I like most about Diablo right now. It's not so much as the game pulling **** moves as it's more along the lines of you just messing up.

Currently I am a 25 wizard closing in on the end of Act 2.

On a side note, I hate those dang sand flies. Smiley: mad

I've only died once, and that was because I apparently couldn't take a Yellow ranged-attacking mob plus a trash pack by myself in a 4-player run. I swear the other 3 guys were following me throughout the run.

Oh, apparently in Gameplay Options, there's an option called "Elective Mode" that allows you to set multiple abilities from the same category. For example, I could set both Leap and Ground Stomp, instead of having to decide between the two.
