Are there any secrets to those Treasure Goblins? I usually hunt them down while they're trying to open portals, but the lore text suggests that the portal might lead somewhere. I'm curious if you could time it just right so that the goblin opens the portal and is then killed before using it, allowing you to see where it goes.

Don't know, but they're sneaky little bastards. Almost got killed chasing after one. He lead me into a giant pack of mobs way far away from the rest of my party. Smiley: lol

I believe that is just the lore behind them. The portals don't seem to be clickable and they break out of their summoning spell rather easy with attacks. Just keep the pressure on them so they don't escape and be rewarded with gold and shineys.

I was at a bachelor party all weekend, and didn't get to play... so I'm only now just about finished with Act I NM. The rest of my group has left me in the dust, but hopefully I can catch up with them in time for Inferno...

Apparently, people with authenticators are still getting hacked, in case anyone is relying on theirs for security. As of right now, it's looking like they're exploiting a server stability error, but people with mobile authenticators might want to change their passwords just to be safe. Might be an empty gesture, might not.

Definitely not a pretty situation. If this is an issue before the RMAH is introduced, I can't imagine how problematic it would be after.

I just hit 10 last night. After constant DCs and errors the first two days, I said ***** it. Decided to try again last night, hit 10, then got DC'd shortly after...Blizzard needs to get their **** together.

Interesting, since I have yet to be asked for my authenticator, which I know is still active since I had to use it during beta and when I access my account.

I've always been of the opinion that a lot of lost WoW accounts were on Blizzard's end, and not a negligent account owner like they claim. There's no reason Diablo should be using different authentication systems than WoW, so I guess we'll see what happens.

I hit 40 barbarian about half way through Nightmare act 2 now. Im dying a decent amount to groups of rares (When I'm not solo) Some of those dual specialty rare mobs suck (Molten/Shield, Electric hit/shield, actually anything /shield gets tiring). And its nice with bosses having enough Hp where they last a while. Kinda wonder how hard Hell and Inferno mode is, My friend got to inferno mode and just beat skeleton king in act 1, he's saying he's dying A LOT.

I can see Hardcore mode + anything past normal mode being a pain.

Edited because i forgot to say I was on Nightmare.

Things are currently unclear, since as far as I can tell the issue's player speculation "this is how they must be doing it" rather than "I can prove this is possible" and that leads to a whole lot of misinformation among the things that are plausible. Blizzard of course is sitting on things and fixing it quietly until they can tell everyone it's been fixed, because otherwise all you do is paint a huge bulls-eye on the game. However, if you believe the speculation it's a flaw in D3 itself rather than the login servers, such that when you join a compromised public game they can get around authentication entirely to access your stuff. If true, that's why it can hit D3 players and not WoW ones.

The game has not asked for your authenticator because you're logging in from the same IP, and Battle.net only checks once a week unless the IP changes, though you can tell it to check every time. This is not a vulnerability issue unless you think a hacker can log in and take your stuff from your computer/IP, in which case you have much bigger problems than some lost gear since that would be either sibling asshattery, an open router, or a seriously infected puppet-PC.

I went ahead and bought this. Because I am weak and cave to peer pressure fairly easily.

I was planning on waiting until the price went down, but then I thought, "Hey, why not just go ahead and hate myself for this?"

So I did. Fishy#1649, if anyone wants to add me.

Just hit 60 monk tonight and entered Act 4 Hell. I'm sturggling to work out a build that can deal with the problems I'm having. I don't seem to be having the same problems other monks are having, but that's probably due to my build and gear. I see some people going with damage reduction skills, but aside from boss monsters, nothing that is merely hitting me can touch me. However, anything that casts (not just elites, but even normals with elite like abilities) utterly destroy me. That's probably because I have across the board 3% resistances.

Mostly, I'm just having trouble finding detailed information on mechanics.

I seem to recall that stacking some resistances was terribly important in nightmare/hell level Diablo 2. I'd be willing to bet that probably carried over to D3.
#95 May 22 2012 at 12:31 AM Rating: Good
The nice thing about monks is that they get One With Everything, which sets thair resistances equal to their highest. So you can load up on a single resistance, which is found in greater amounts or on the same item as "+ to all" resistance. I've seen a lot of folks going for poison resist, don't know if there's a reason to shoot for that in particular.

http://us.battle.net/d3/en/forum/topic/5149619846#1 second blue post in particular
Quote:
We've been taking the situation extremely seriously from the start, and have done everything possible to verify how and in what circumstances these compromises are occurring. Despite the claims and theories being made, we have yet to find any situations in which a person's account was not compromised through traditional means of someone else logging into their account through the use of their password. While the authenticator isn't a 100% guarantee of account security, we have yet to investigate a compromise report in which an authenticator was attached beforehand.

If your account has been hacked, please view the previous post for information on contacting our support department.

So if you DO get hacked while using an authenticator, go through the proper channels instead of posting on the forum. That way they can do something about it.

I have trouble believing that. The issue blew up because CS was insisting at first that there was no evidence of the accounts being accessed illegally. Your everyday hackings wouldn't have caused that--we're all used to them.

If they couldn't detect the hacking, there's either something seriously wrong with their detection systems, their logs, or the accounts weren't accessed simply by logging in from a remote location. Even if the hackers were using a proxy, they still would have been able to tell they were accessed irregularly.

[EDIT]
Also, it's worth noting that not all people claiming a protected account was compromised are nameless trolls on the forums. Sure, she could be lying. But I'm willing to bet she takes her professional credibility seriously enough she wouldn't risk it on such an inane story.
