RIP Mordin. "My xenoscience studies range from urban to agrarian,I am the very model..." Goodbye, buddy. And farewell to Thane as well, though I felt more like it was good to see him at peace, finally. Mordin's death hit me rather hard, though.Painful spoiler warning.

Also, holy crap. The Leviathan of Dis was a freaking Reaper. Also also, Conrad Verner tried to take a bullet for me. That was freaking awesome.

So, 150 hours across 3 games, my first Soldier has finished his story... Wow... need a smoke or something... Not sure if its a good or bad ending, think there's 17 or so, but ****...

I've kind of been forsaking singleplayer at the moment. Multiplayer is just too **** fun.

And I'm already at 100% galactic readiness rating. Smiley: glare

I'm not too far in--just met with the Council (AKA, Sons of *********

I can't wait for my Renegade or mixed run through, so I can tell them to GFT.

Also, KAIDAN (T.T

He's my second BioWare crush, and him getting brutalized on Mars made me want to stab the Illusive Man in his freaky cybernetic eyes. I also like that the writing has been fairly believable for his and my femshep romance--he's not like JK I LUV U! And Liara's coy smiles were quite rewarding.

"So, the Major's become... quite capable." *wink, wink*

[EDIT]

Also, WTF did they do to my ship?!?!?!?! It used to be so sleek and pretty. Now there are big wires and tubes everywhere, just begging me to trip over them. And IN MY BEDROOM? Those ********

I find it funny, honestly. When it's a civilian vessel paid for by a massive company, it's flat out **** (speaking of **** and the Normandy... well, you'll see). Once the military gets a hold of it, it's just fugly inside.

One thing I have to give BioWare props for, though, is that they kept the layout extremely similar. The second level has been heavily renovated, but you can still tell that one room used to be Mordin's lab, other floors have almost the same layout, etc. It's just really cool, especially having gone directly from 2 to 3 with just a few hours in between, like I did.

I agree was nice not to have to relearn the ship. It's been a while since I played ME2 and I still remembered where everything was.

I'm still not very far. I went back to the Citadel after the Turian moon to visit Ash and ended up in conversation land for most of the night last night. I now have a crazy list of quests. Some of them I almost feel bad doing because I have this sense of urgency to save Earth. Even though I know they are adding to my war score. In contrast I appreciate some of the mellow time however to break up the pacing.

Also the new dancers at Purgatory on the moving stages are NAUGHTY. Smiley: drool

Just keep reminding yourself that the best way you can help Earth is by organizing the strongest resistance force you can!

I have to say, I'm very impressed with the updates to the story telling that BioWare has made. It's less GOGOGOGOGOGO from ME2, but not even remotely as slow as ME1. Definitely a very nice middle ground. Not always perfect, of course. Talking to Avina made me want to pluck her holographic eyelashes out. But generally superior.

Also, I'm loving the new way they are handling the ship conversations, specifically by including the environment and other characters. I went to talk to Vega and Cortez, and they'd start ribbing each other while we chatted. Did a lot to make it feel less like they were talking at me, and more like I was actually having a conversation with someone aboard a ship. Also nice to see BioWare working to develop the relationships between secondary characters, so Shepard isn't the absolute focal point.

The revamp to the power system is interesting, too. I am actually being faced with some hard choices. How often do I want to use my powers? Do I want stronger powers or wider powers? Do I want to focus on biotic combos, or would I rather have powers better against any enemy? Do I want to focus on setting up my own Biotic combos, or do I want to rely on squad synergy? How many weapons do I need? What kind of weapons? Will my pistol/assault setup be enough? Would I prefer a Sniper Rifle, Pistol, and Shotgun? What cooldown to weapon capacity ratio do I want? Do I want my Tech Armor to be something that's a passive defense, or do I want to actively monitor it?

I'm actually feeling a little overwhelmed, but in a really good way.

Now, if only Kaidan would get out of the hospital. >:(

It's possible to save her, and her people, along with the Geth. Plus if you romance her, you see her face at the end.

Yeah, so I'm totally reading all the spoilers here, even though I don't have the game. Anyways, I had heard that the portrait of her is just a slightly modified stock image. Also, that she's just a regular looking human...which would be really, really weird.

She's dead on my play through, just going off what I've read, I'll get that ending soon I hope.

That's the problem. You don't. All you get is a photo in your cabin which is a stock image of some chick with 5 min of photoshop. I was hoping for a cutscene or a conversation with her without her mask. If you romance her, she'll come see you in your cabin close to the end. It would have been a good opportunity but no.. she takes off her mask but you only see her back... again.

It was really lazy from Bioware to not actually give her a face and just use some photo they got for free on getty images. Game was awesome but they lost a lot of points in my book for being so cheap with such an important character. It's a huge slap in the face for all the fans.

I'f I'm forced to choose between Tali and the Geth, I just don't know who I'd go for. On the one hand, I'm firmly on the Geth's side when it comes to the war that drove the Quarians out. On the other hand, the Geth are only just beginning to develop emotions, and they don't understand fear. The worst part of death, for me, is the fear of nonexistance.

Their deaths seem less horrific as a result.

I don't think it's fair to continue to blame the Quarians for the war--their ancestors did it, not them. Granted, they don't seem to have learned from their mistake, but still.

Of course, the other side has that too. The Geth, strictly speaking, have never sought war with Organics. They don't wish for hostility, nor do they hold a grudge against the Quarians. They just want peace, but don't know how to broker it (understandable, considering the Quarians just want them gone).

So if I'm forced to choose between an emotionless, but justified, race and a passionate, but ignorant, one...

I just don't know which I'd want to choose. I feel like I'd favor the Quarians, but I think that's also Organic preference at work, and it's super unjust to let that come into play.

**** you BioWare and your morally challenging scenarios!

I'm guessing that this may have actually been due to fan response. When they announced that Tali would reveal her face, some people flipped sh*t over it. They might have chosen to reduce it down to the picture, just so that people who didn't want to know what she really looked like could remain ignorant. Of course, that depends on how detailed the picture is, and whether or not you have to see it.

Personally, I think they should have just given players the option to remove her mask or not in the romance scene.

Also, if you don't romance Tali or Garrus, they apparently end up in a romance with each other.

Which makes me happy, because I always wanted them to have someone, but couldn't bring myself to forsake Kaidan.

I'm having a hard time believing people would be against seeing her face after 3 games of teasing about it but everything is possible. Hardcore fans can be a weird bunch sometimes. Assuming it's true then your solution would've been perfect. Just give an option in the romance scene to remove the mask or not. I personally think that they we're just too lazy to actually bother giving her a face.

As for the picture itself, it's detailed enough to give you an idea of what she looks like but then that's part of the problem, she looks so generic. It's just some random chick with some photoshop. If you want to see it, here's a link to the stock photo they used from getty images http://www.gettyimages.co.uk/detail/photo/hammasa-royalty-free-image/123488108

and this is a link to kotaku with a side by side comparison http://kotaku.com/5891242/gamers-are-now-angry-at-bioware-because-of-an-image-in-mass-effect-3 (There's no real spoiler there other than the picture)

They actually felt that her being faceless to the player was actually a deep part of her character. Kinda like if you were to ever find out the Joker's* real identity. You just aren't supposed to know.

I don't agree (in this case, at least), but I think it's not a totally invalid complaint.

*Meaning from Batman--his real name and origin story have never been confirmed, and even those produced carry disclaimers that they are probably just him lying (or that he thinks he's actually telling the truth, but can't remember what the truth is anymore).

With the Joker, not revealing his identity was actually integral to the character--because it was never about him, it was about what he represented, and the ways in which Batman dealt with him. With Tali, her being masked has always been a part of her story--and a part, nonetheless, that she's been very vocal about wanting to leave behind. And it's not like no one knows what Quarians look like, only the player doesn't.

I can get why people associated her being masked so strongly with her character, which is why I'm not dismissing it. I just don't agree that it was so important.

Not sure if this still needs spoiler tags but I'll put them anyway.

The big difference here is that Shepard does know what she looks like while Batman doesn't know about the Joker. It would be like Batman learning the true identity and background of the Joker but they would bleep everything he says about it. Mass Effect is a RPG and you are Shepard. You should know everything Shepard knows. If they want to keep Tali's face a mystery to the player than it should be so for Shepard as well.

But even with all that said, I wouldn't mind the picture if they would have put some effort in it. Something like this fan art for example instead of some bad photoshop from a stock photo. Tali deserved better.

Oh, I agree. I was just pointing out what some fans feel. It may not be perfectly logical, but it makes sense if we are limiting ourselves to purely emotional arguments.

In other news, EDI is my favorite character ever.

She made a joke about how she only forgets to recycle the ship's oxygen if she finds something truly interesting. Shepard just stared at her, wide-eyed and mouth agape, for a few seconds. Then she clarified it was a joke. Smiley: lol

Also, LOL. I talked to Chakwas immediately after EDI got her body. Chakwas just laughs as she says "Joker's going to have a field day with this."

Favorite mass effect couple, without a doubt.

On the Geth & Quarians

Having high Paragon was worth it, as I was able to upgrade the Geth & Stop the Quarian Fleet, thus adding both factions to the fight against the Reapers. Tali joined my crew, but the biggest bonus was the resolution with Legion. Legion, whom always referred to itself as "we", refers to itself as "I" right before sacrificing it's life in order to give life to the rest of the Geth & avoid being controlled by the Reapers again.

Not only that, but taking down another Reapers was a blast.

Also, after doing Legion's quest, if you talk to people on the ship they'll ask you about going into the server. Joker even makes a "matrix" reference.

Kaidan has ridiculously large pecs. It's like they are using Vega's pecs on his body while he's laying in the hospital bed.

I just beat the game.

I am no longer a BioWare fan, not even close.

I took Liara and James with me in my squad in the end. We all got lasered to death (except Shepard, who barely survives).
I finish the game (picked to control the Reapers) and in the scene before the credits... Normandy crash lands on a jungle planet and Joker, Liara and Garrus get off.
What the ****? How did Liara go from getting lasered on Earth to ending up back on the Normandy?
And what the **** does the ending mean? Where is everyone else (like EDI)?
What.
