Having decided not buy the game but still curious about the ending, I looked it up. I'll just say this, I'm glad I didn't buy the game.

I just beat the game.

I am no longer a BioWare fan, not even close.

I took Liara and James with me in my squad in the end. We all got lasered to death (except Shepard, who barely survives).
I finish the game (picked to control the Reapers) and in the scene before the credits... Normandy crash lands on a jungle planet and Joker, Liara and Garrus get off.
What the hell? How did Liara go from getting lasered on Earth to ending up back on the Normandy?
And what the hell does the ending mean? Where is everyone else (like EDI)?
What.

I totally agree. It was a great game up to that point and then Bioware said **** you all. You've spent 100+ hours over 3 games so to thank you we'll **** all over the story to make sure everything you've done doesn't matter one way or another.

Based on what was written there, I had to do some looking into what happens. I'm kinda wondering if the so called Synergy ending, where organics and synthetics combine is supposed to be the true good ending. Kinda strange considering it has a readiness rating requirement somewhere just north of middle. Either way, there are something like 17 possible endings. Maybe one of them makes sense.

Edit: Apparently there is some kind of special ending you can only get in New Game +.

I just watched another ending on Youtube, not the one I picked.

Minor spoiler, non-plot related:
Between the 3 choices... it's all the exact same, scene for scene. One difference: the color of the energy/laser is different.

Everything after the Harbinger lands and charges his lazors is a dream sequence the reapers inplanted in our brains to make us think the reaper threat has been squashed. 50,000 years from now we'll know if I'm right. The grandpa/grandson story sequence after the credits makes me believe this theory... Along with the whole way you move through the last 15 min or so of the story, you walk and act like the 3 dream sequences before it. Basically from after you "wake up" and stumble into the light on is a dream. Youtube the "good" ending and you'll see Shepard laying in a pile of rubble that matches the stuff you've been fighting through in London, he takes like a single breath and that's it. If that had happened in the Citadel you'd be floating in space like the start of 2.

Ugh, that would be even worse. That would mean the Normandy scene was part of the dream too, and the ending would end up having even less closure because it isn't even revealed what happened to... anyone.

Actually I just checked the ending I picked (Control the Reapers) and that secret scene with Shepard surviving does not appear even with all conditions met.

Well this is an interesting conversation for those of us not interested in having the endings spoiled. >.<

So now we're gonna talk about multiplayer. :P

Does anyone know how to remap your quickslots in it? Dragging and dropping doesn't seem to work, but the setup is different from what I use for Shepard...

Also, geth are hella hard. As are the husks. Cerberus is definitely easiest, imo.

What do you get for multiplayer again? I have not tried it yet, or looked into it online.

As for people hating the game I don't get it. I'm not close to finished yet and I do have some minor complaints but in general I am enjoying the hell out of it so far.

It's hard to explain it without spoiling anything so you'll just need to finish it and see for yourself. Halfway through I was thinking exactly like you do, great game with some minor flaws.

Playing multiplayer will boost your galactic readiness for single player. It's not necessary, as you can get optimal readiness in the campaign alone. It's just a bonus.

Otherwise, it's fun as hell.

What are you playing as? As a human Infiltrator, Adept, or Engineer I don't have any trouble with any of them in particular. Geth are slightly easier for my Engineer thanks to Overload, and Reapers give my Infiltrator a bit more trouble (you try headshotting a charging brute), but other than that they're pretty equal for me.

The Infiltrator is certainly what I find the most fun, which is weird. I normally gravitate towards the Mage archetype, which the Adept falls into in this game, but the whole Cloak and one shot, one kill thing I find insanely fun with my Infiltrator.

I've almost come close to beating Silver, but you really need mics for Silver & Gold.

I'm playing as a Sentinel. Throw, Warp, and Tech Armor. Throw is awesome for anyone, but really shines against husks and the Riot shield users. Warp is great for Barriers/Armor, or just giving me a damage buff against anything. Tech Armor is useful against Husks and the standard Cerberus fair (who like to get in close), because I can detonate it.

Geth don't tend to get too close, which is nice, but takes some of the appeal from Tech Armor. And they use Shields more frequently than the other two, and I have no hard counter for those.

Maybe I'm just missing something, of course. I've only fought them twice, but got my face handed to me both times.

Also, kudos to Bioware for actually making the player make some tough logistical choices (which I admit I failed to realize before it was too late).

I was at Tuchanka, and had three missions left--Cerberus Base, disarm the bomb, cure the Genophage. For some stupid reason I just assumed that the bomb would wait for me to be ready. Yeah... no. Cured the Genophage, but then the bomb exploded, taking out a ton of Krogan women/children, including Eve.

Also, Mordin. T.T Fare thee well, my favorite scientist Salarian, who studied species Turian, Asari, and Batarian.

Ouch! That sucks. I disarmed the bomb first and Eve and Wrex are happily making babies now. 1000's of egg clutches actually >.> And Eve is a good force for moderating the Krogan tendency to Kill Everything.

Yeah, that has taught me to actually think about my quest log and make choices based on what issues are most immediate.

[EDIT]

I'm actually thinking of restarting. I'm not that far along, and there are a few missions where I really wish (in retrospect) that I had brought different crew members along. I'm not really all that far, as I haven't had much time to play this weekend. Hell, Tuchanka is only like 3-5 priority missions in, and I haven't done much else.

I'm also considering changing my Shepard from Sentinel (ME1/2) to Adept. I'm loving Biotics in ME3, and find myself using them more than anything else.

While I get that some of you are unhappy with your endings, it's your journeys to that ending that I'm most interested in. After you finish ME3, try & take the time to tell us the story of your Shephard so we can try & figure out how you got to that ending. Try & include your general War Assets, Karma (Paragon/Renegade), & some of the bigger choices you made throughout the series. Thanks! (I should finish up my first play through tomorrow, as I'm just about to head back to Earth).

RE: Miranda's Mission
My Miranda died from wounds she suffered at the hands of the Cerberus assassin, but not before killing her Father by bionically throwing him out a window. I was sad that she died, especially since Miranda's voice is done by the chick whom played Sarah in Chuck & the series finale of Chuck was just a month or so ago. After returning to the Normandy, I was told Tali was in the lounge. Going there & talking to her gave me some great dialog about how she felt about Miranda & some really funny dialog about how Tali was getting drunk by using her "Emergency Induction Port".

This is pretty much it, except I'm a Femshep & wasn't in a relationship with Tali.

Just finish it and you'll understand. That's all I can say without spoiling anything but my guess is you won't be asking this question after you're done.
