there's still hope! Apparently EQMac was going to be shut down recently, but they tweeted/emailed soe/the president of SOE and got their game saved! If we get enough people to do that we could probably do the same!!!
Just go to that facebook page and check it out, what you need is there.

its truly sad how the community completely walked away save for us hardcore fans. wtf man! not one reply? REALLY? no wonder sony is like F this, time to kill it! Ya man it's sad news and thanks for taking the time to post about it, i hope they change their minds, im doing all i can to promote saving it but in the end idk, the people that played for about a year or two and took off, are no where to be found, they basically hopped on stupid WoW and prefered the BS candy coated easy gameplay! ill quit mmos before i conform to that crap dude! F that! 50000 quests per lvl, non stop solo, running instances and no one talks then run it again and again and again and still no one talks, no time to chat it's way to fast paced like like diablo or a fighting game wtf! i want to camp mobs with people and make friends talking for hours! not getting spammed by gold sellers and little kids! The golden age of MMORPG's IS OVER! DONE! GONE! it literally dies on march 29th with EQOA!

I don't think it's fair to blame the players who moved on for this. Blame SOE. Simply put, this game is not worth $15.00 a month to play. If Sony would lower the price or actually use the money EQOA players were paying to create updates or new content with substance it might be different. Your money has been going to developing and improving EQ2, SWG and others for years. SOE has the worst customer service of any of the gaming companies I have had to deal with, and the closing of EQOA proves it. "Thanks for giving us money for years to create and market games other then the one you play. By the way, we're kicking you out in a month. Get your stuff and get out." THAT is why SOE lost me, not because I need my games dumbed down or faster paced. SOE doesn't care about me. Or you.

i think that would mean that most people like the bs easy gameplay. LoL its rather funny because there was about 50 people ,me included, a few years ago saying how the game was revolving around raid guilds and not the casual player. Well the casual players all left and what is happening. I loved the game but u have to cater to all not just those who parade the forums. Big mistake on sony's part.

Shut your mouth! EQOA does NOT deserve to have been shut down! You are right, it was never worth (first $9.99/mo then) $14.99/mo to play! It's worth MUCH MUCH MORE!!! I'd rather pay $99.99/mo for ONE SINGLE SERVER than to have been shut down on. SOE says it does care. They saved EQMac. And they made it free to play... I DON'T want EQOA Free to play. I want to pay my monthly subscription to access the one of a kind, truly unique and only game I'll EVER play... EQOA.

Apparently you do need dumbed down, easy games where you can just spend your mom's credit card to get handed a million gold and gain levels the way the gentleman above described it. What's wrong with grinding your way to 60, making friends and having fun in the process? What's wrong with EARNING tunar? No, you had to run to a game that you can cheat your way through, and then come onto a forum where someone who cares is trying to SAVE EQOA and you blaspheme EQOA! How dare you? Bite your damn tongue! Crawl back into your horribly stupid hole called WoW and STFU about EQOA you little prick!

It's the players such as yourself, that actually hate having to actually EARN everything in game, that ran away. Yes, it's fair to blame the players such as YOU! BECAUSE OF YOU AND PEOPLE LIKE YOU, EQOA IS SHUT DOWN!

Are you serious? You make a LOT of assumptions both about me and SOE. Let me address your reply point by point. I'll even use the ALL CAPS thing for impact like you did...
SnowyravenakaCoyotetricks wrote:

I never said it did. The ONLY derogatory thing I said about it is that it wasn't worth $15/month to play, and it's not.

If you can give me ANY REASON its worth the monthly fee besides the fact you have about ten level 60 characters then I am willing to listen. My viewpoint is that EQOA charges the same amout or more than similar games that actually release EXPANSIONS. Every one of them has a customer service department that treat their customers considerably better than SOE does.

I have bad news for you. SOE DOES NOT care about EQOA!!! If they really cared about EQOA or its players, they would have either not closed the game down in the first place, or given you more than A MONTH notice before they kicked your *** out. The EQOA petition had MORE signatures than the EQMac petition did, yet here we are. I know better than to believe SOE's lies. You clearly don't.

No, I need a game that has actually ADDED NEW CONTENT in the last eight years. If you want to feed on the table scraps SOE throws to you while the money you pay goes toward games OTHER THAN THE ONE YOU PLAY, that's your problem. I don't mind having to start from scratch in another game and EARN my way again.

Dumbed down? EQOA itself is a dumbed-down version of EQ in the first place. The game is not difficault to understand or play. It's not at all hard to grind hard for a few minutes, then sit and drink to get mana, then grind hard for a few minutes, then sit and drink to get mana, then grind hard for a few minutes, then sit and drink to get mana, then grind hard for a few minutes, then sit and drink to get mana, then grind hard for a few minutes, then sit and drink to get mana, then grind hard for a few minutes, then sit and drink to get mana, it just gets BORING and repetitive and isn't a good way to spend time in a game you're paying to play. That's why SOE always treated EQOA and its players like an unwanted step-child. They hardly even acknowledge it exists.
SnowyravenakaCoyotetricks wrote:

Please. How many of your characters did you ACTUALLY GRIND to level 60? Are you trying to tell me that you didn't power level or dual box your way to 60? Pfft. Not a chance. When I quit this game years ago, it was because I HATED power-leveling and that's what everybody was doing. Talk about NOT EARNING your tunar. All most players were doing was having experience handed to them by one of their higher-level friends. That isn't EARNING anything. That's why so many players had numerous level 60 characters. Thay got bored with them because you don't appreciate what you don't EARN. Having to either exploit the game mechanics or buy another game disc, PS2, and subscription just to play a game with yourself just to simply level up is absurd and a waste of time.
SnowyravenakaCoyotetricks wrote:

What game would that be? I didn't defect to WoW, if that is the point you're trying to make. But WoW has the Guiness World Record number of players for several reasons, and two of the biggest is the Blizzard staff treats customers like they actually want their money and they have released three expansions since 2004. How many EQOA expansions have your monthly payments paid for in the last eight years?

I was reacting to a post misdirecting blame at the players who moved on. As one I felt I had a right to reply. I wasn't insulting or disrespectful to anybody other than SOE. I'm sorry you don't want to hear that your favorite game is out-dated and developed by a company that consistantly breaks promises to their customers, but that's life.
SnowyravenakaCoyotetricks wrote:

Once again, not a WoW player, but WoW does have over 10 million subscribers. You should have a little more respect. Even though the most subscribers EQOA had was around 30 thousand, it had a nice little niche, too bad SOE ruined it by NEVER UPDATING.

Honestly though, I thought you would have typed "little prick" in all caps. At least you used an exclamation point after it. They say weak debaters have to resort to insulting their rivals instead of using facts to back up their viewpoint. It's funny how brave people get when they have the internet between them and the people they're insulting.

Yeah, if you say so. I still blame SOE.

I dont' know if you just fear change or if you can't afford a system better than a PS2 or what, but you don't always get your way and sometimes things have to change. EQOA was a good game at first. SOE could have done many things to keep players from leaving, but they knew it was a waste of money. So they milked the faithful players dry until it was no longer cost-effective to keep the servers running. You have been used. You and the other ten players that still played the game on clw hanging around Freeport, flexing all your level 60 muscles that most of you really didn't EARN in the first place and chatting for hours while trying to put together a group for about 45 minutes of actually playing should have just saved your money and found a chat room or something.

The OP is a long time EQOA poster, everyone after that could infact be the same person.
