Although I haven't played it in a few years, this makes me sad. I'll always have fond memories of this game.

I checked today and everybodies accounts are now active. Perfect time to play if you want before it's gone.

Im not ready to toss in my towel yet guys! Check my channel at EQOAnostalgia on youtube, also check this out to help us save our home! here is a direct petition link to John Smedley, very easy and fast way to make your voice heard! http://www.change.org/petitions/save-eqoa Now i am also on EQ1 and 2! i have been making waves with both communities and MANY MANY people are with me in keeping this alive, and also seeing that it finds a home on PC so the rest of the EQ fans can FINALLY get into this amazing and advanced version of EQ, from playing EQ1 the past 2 weeks i can say that EQOA was/is basically EQ1.5 they are very similar only in my personal opinion EQOA is superior! Even though we didn't get the flashy expansions and upgrades EQOA is still more immersive, seamless and grand in it's design and city layout! Imagine EQOA if it had 18 expansion!!!!!! YA! i rest my case! EQOA IS KING!

I haven't played this game in over 6 years, but I have to say I was fairly sad to hear it was closing down. My boyfriend loaded up his account last night for our son to play and the nostalgia was flowing hard. We actually met playing this game back in the beginning of 2004 and have been together ever since. EQOA will always have a special place in my heart as my first MMO and where I met my man! <3

ya we do, im on EQ1 and 2 talking to them about it and how it's just like EQ1 and is hardcore, and is the last of it's kind! i have had some people take an interest but i can't do it alone. Thank you to everyone who has made an attempt. I play EQ1 now because i can't get on EQOA. It's very deep very fun but it is not EQOA, the towns in EQOA are soooooo much better, the zones are better, no loading. the biggest thing for me is when i first went into Highpass and Neriak, basically all the major towns, it looks like crap! I mean not just graphics but they really perfected the layouts for the towns in EQOA, even the distances to run to them! In EQ1 it seems like it all gets crammed together, for example. Surefall, theres no gnoll camp outside and blackburrow is down the road, no darvor manor for you to get to on the way to blackburrow. No wyndhaven or forkwatch. thats all added stuff and it made the game feel bigger more epic and just really adventurous. EQ1 does not have this, and when you enter a town like say going from Ro, or Commonlands into Freeport, it has to load, it feels like you had to coach to go 2 feet! WTF! NO NO NO! EQOA is king! and because it was stuck on PS2 it never got out to the masses, it remains a GEM MASTERPIECE of a game and the death of it WITHOUT others seeing how epic it was is GD TRAGIC to me! I can put it to you like this, EQ started it all, its the master! it is god for mmos! i LOVE IT, but EQOA is what happens when a team has experience, knows what to do after making the first, and just NAILS the formula right on the head! EQOA is EQ1.5! and anyone from EQ1 that wishes to argue this point know this! we had ONE expac! you had 18! and our game is STILL just as fun! Maybe not as much to do (DUH! you had 18 expacs!) but it still holds it's own as the king in my book! K done ranting now sorry lols.

This is a shame, there will never be another MMORPG with as much depth as the ones of it's era did and one being shutdown is a tragedy for the whole genre.

If SoE wasn't in such lousy shape business wise I might be mad but at this point I don't expect them to even be around for long, they will just be absorbed into SCE at some point and continue putting out dumbed down lame games that are easily forgotten.
