Anybody else play this game? Guess it was recently released for $10.00. Claimed to be a new type of game play with a rich story etc etc.

Just was going to say save your $10. Its just a 1 hour long FPS that tells a mediocre story while you walk a very slow set path. There are some impressive visuals but that's about it. There is no interactive objects in the game, no enemies or obstacles to overcome. You can't jump, run, duck, etc. You just walk a set path listening to a story and 1 hour later its over.

Anyways wish I had my $10 back.

...seriously?

If that's all it is, asking money for this game should be a crime.

It was originally a mod for Half Life 2, then the creators got greedy and tried to sell it as a game.

And I was considering this, because it looked interesting.

Rate ups for you, good sir, for saving me from a terrible purchase.

Overpricing it might be a bit greedy, but I don't think the simple act of trying to sell something that you create is.

I'm actually mildly curious about this now, but it does seem like too steep an asking price. Maybe if it comes down to around $3-5.

The reviews said that each time you played through was supposed to be a random world. Id imagine the story is the same but what you see visually is different?

I was curious what it was because the review said very little other than how innovative it was. Didn't show gameplay or anything.

That's not even innovative. Dinner Date has you sitting at a table for 25 minutes thinking about the date who just stood you up, then it's over.

I played through it once and the next day I wanted to show my wife how fail it was and started a new game. Played into it about 10 minutes and everything was the same.

Its not really a FPS, its just FP. You control your movement with WASD and you use the mouse to look around. That is pretty much it. You can't jump, and you can't interact with anything.

It's $10 for about an hour and a half's well narrated walk around a beautiful deserted island.

I liked it, but that's all it is. The underground cave looked especially neat.

It would probably just be better if they classified these things as "interactive movies" instead of "video games".

supposably the people behind dear esther are working with frictional games (amnesia/penumbra) on a game titled a machine for pigs
#13 Mar 02 2012 at 5:18 AM Rating: Good
That would be Amnesia: A Machine for Pigs.

Set in 1899, Amnesia: A Machine for Pigs follows the “wealthy industrialist” Oswald Mandus, who has returned home from “a disastrous expedition to Mexico, which has ended in tragedy.” Struck by a destructive fever, Mandus is haunted by dreams of a dark machine until he mysteriously regains consciousness. Months have passed, unbeknownst to the industry tycoon, and as he emerges from his slumber the roaring engine of a mysterious machine sputters to life.
