They're fairly slow, but their arcs cover you so well that it usually doesn't matter. Anyone about to melee normally gets hit as they return.

Faeblades are fast but trap you in fairly long spinning animations for every press.

Funny you should mention that quest. I whipped out my phone and took ******* notes on who should go where in the order. I was 100% sure of my self, and that little **** says 'no, i dont think theyd like that at all'.

And the text of that quest was seriously poor--it asks for order without specifying back to front, or front to back. So you might have input the order exactly opposite what they wanted.

Yeah that's what I figured.

I didnt persuade anyone, in fact I never even look at that option since I have such a low chance of success, but I remember it clearly.

Hartwen wanted to be in front of whenery. Viscount wanted to be behind Hartwen. Faemage guy wanted to be last. Whenery only wanted to be in front of faemage guy.

Logic dictates:

1.Hartwen
2. Viscount
3. Whenery
4. Faemage guy.

Not quite.

Hartwen wants to be in front. Whenery doesn't care as long as she's not behind smelly faemage guy. Faemage guy wants to be last and viscount wants to check Whenery's butt.

So the order is:

1 Hartwen
2 Whenery
3 Viscount
4 Faemage guy

Yeah, it was pretty straightforward and obvious as heck when you succeed all the persuades.

Is this game as expansive as skyrim? or does it burn out after a certain point?

It's pretty long, Lots of small/medium interconnected zones to explore rather than a huge sandbox in all directions.

Really though I loved Skyrim, but this is a totally different game. Apples and Oranges. Like DA or Witcher are different. But it's a fun RPG by it's own merit.

I'm level 32 now on my pure finesse guy, almost Nightblade level. I'm over on the other side of the river now and enjoying the new zones. I skipped the Warsworn and Magic guilds on this guy but I did do the Travelers quest to completion which I enjoyed lots.

I went through a time when RNG was cruel and my gear started to get pretty outdated from just random drops. So I finally broke down and crafted some stuff in the early 20's even though I was going for a mostly organic run. Health Regen gear is about the most game breaking thing ever. Stack those and you become Wolverine pretty fast.

But I was in the troll armor gear phase then and I have since replaced most of the OP gear I crafted with natural drops that I just liked the look of or were cool sets again. Now the difficulty is back to a more fun challenge level.

I have the raw mats to make a ridonkulous dread scale set but I am sticking with the normal set pieces I have gained by questing over making another game breaker set because RNG actually provided gear at the right challenge level for now again.

I'm going to finish this play through and then work on my pure mage I think.

I've been playing a pure mage for the last week or so since I picked this up. I just hit level 15 last night after 21 hours of played time. That seems kind of slow to me, but I've been taking time to explore everywhere and wasted a bunch of time at the beginning before realising you can track quests.

The last time I bought a game other than World of Warcraft and its expansions was Diablo 2 back in high school because I usually play demos/betas and got bored quickly. Kingdoms of Amalur is so good that I played the demo (stayed up till 4am to finish it) and bought a copy of the game the next day.

I'm really mad that I didn't realise the guy in Webwood that asks you to meet him at the bridge would get killed by spiders if I turned my back for a second, and he stays dead, so I never got my house :( so I might have to play through again just to do that part right. I'm a noob at this type of game, so didn't think of loading a save to go back until much later.

Visited Rathir last night, and hopped across the pond to help a siege on that other town (I forget the name), but stopped right after the cutscene. Got my blacksmithing to max so I crafted some masterworked gear with gems (including epic gem for the chest) which I'm looking forward to using. Battlemage is fun, and blink is much better now that I have the ability in the Might tree to attack after dodging. Been saving some gear for a finesse character though, thinking of doing a respec for a bit to try it out. We'll see.

My first playthrough in this type of game, I just stick with all the repercussions of my choices. I never reload to change a choice. Subsequent playthroughs, I'll reload to game the system.

Ouch that sucks about the guy in Caneroc! You do get another bigger house later in the game in gnome town. Not going to spoiler that becuase it's not really plot related. But it is so far along past Webwood that I don't really use it for much. I still port home to Webby manor to store my stuff.

*Also unrelated The Battle for Mel Senshir was pretty epic! The Balor's eye beam one shot my **** the first time lol. Then I remembered that finesse guys can block >.> I am so used to dodging as finesse but the eye beam locked on and stunned me mid dodge 0 to Death until I gulped a master regen potion and blocked it.

I've restarted full finesse with the goal of never deviating from that, never using reckoning on a boss until the very end to get the xp bonus, and not taking blacksmithing or sagecrafting, at least not until later levels.

Oh and also as evil as possible, which is been pretty meh thus far.

evil For example, choosing to kill the current mayor of canneroc (the guy in the cave fighting spiders) was ultra gaaaay. Just puts the other guy in charge and nothing else changes. Then i opted to help the widow and I killed the entire town of Canneroc. To me, this seems like a pretty big ****** deal, and what did i get as a reward? A white pair of faeblades and a couple thousand gold. At least give me a blue. I killed an entire town! Nothing happened after that, she told me to just GTFO and never bother her again. Hopefully when i choose to go evil with the Maid of Wandermere it'll be interesting.

i'm having lots of fun running through the main quest on casual. had one big boss fight where i killed the last guy on the last sliver of fate and nailed the 100% bonus. felt good man.

i facepalmed after "welcome to the house of ballads, home of the forum of enchantment," but after gnomeburg the story starts to get more interesting.

music is awesome, when it's playing. wish there was more of it. graphics are kind of disappointing. looks great while you're running around killing ****, but you can't really stop and stare at anything. well, i would have loved to watch the windstones while they were doing their thing but the camera just doesn't work that way. menus have consolitis pretty bad. separate menus for primary and secondary weapons? come on...

seems like i'm complaining a lot but it's @#%^ing fun and i'm planning on a second playthrough to explore more and try out the other playstyles.

ps - if this was on the vita i'd order it tomorrow.

I can't imagine playing it with a mouse and KB. Plays great with a 360 controller. I actually went back to the widescreen fixer mod to give me a better FoV back away from my character a while ago.

Makes enjoying the scenery much easier, and some of the scenery is pretty nice once you can see more than your own back. Makes cutscenes for stealth kills fish eye a bit though or conversations are farther away camera. Still worth it I decided.

I'm sure it's been commented on before, but dear god why does my character need to take up a third of the screen. I really do hate console ports. It's honestly almost unplayable. I've heard of a FOV mod, but the screenshots of it weren't that impressive and I'm not sure how buggy it is.

I've been using for a while with no issues. The key is to enable it when in the menu before you launch your save game. Or else it wonks the camera hard. I uploaded the file and the game specific addon to Virus Total and it came up clean. No issues so far running it.

Apparently their are some people who claim to have been banned for running it in competitive FPS shooter games because a increased field of view can be an advantage there so I won't link the actual mod. I got it from google on a thread where the author made a plugin for this game for widescreen fixer which is used mostly for people with giant or multiple screen set ups. I set my FoV to 60 at 1980 x 1020 and that seems to be a good fit for this game.

*Use it at your own risk. I don't do any personal identity type of stuff on my gaming rig, I keep my banking to a clean laptop. So I took the risk but don't blame me if you have different results.

I went with a mage character, and I'd still like to play a mage character, but I'm really trying to think of what to do to avoid taking meteor. Apparently it one shots most enemies in the game, which is incredibly boring. I'm hoping a chakram build will be viable and present a challenging, but not intentionally gimping play style.

It seems incredibly difficult to create a clever or interesting build in this game.
