It sounded similar, then I took a chakram to the knee.

There are definitely similarities, but they are really quite different. :P

And I'll echo the Detect Hidden comment. Omg is that skill nice. Random treasure nodes popping up and increased gold yields from enemies? Yes please.

Also, I'm a sucker for Persuasion. In every game where is't an option (except Skyrim actually), I need to take it. Just have to. I hate when persuades fail...

So I gave up on the camera hack/mod since it ruined all the cut scenes and decided to just settle on way too close cam. I'm actually getting used to it now, it seems to adjust out some at least in big group fights.

So far I have rolled a Mage, a Rogue, and a Warrior.

I kind of settled in on the Warrior but decided to go Battlemage hybrid. I respeced at the Hall of songs to make it real clean. So far I love it. Put all my might points in Greatsword and Block and all my sorcery points in Lightning/Chakram/Magesheild. What you end up with is an uber greatsword smasher who is tough as nails and still has good ranged attacks with lightning and chakrams.

I use a talisman as shield because I think it looks cool. But you can still do all the shield based attacks and shield bash with it. Also you get blink for your dodge when slotting battelmage fate card which is pretty fun.

What are you all rolling with so far?

Im 100% mage. The conical fire attack thing is amazing especially when combined with the shield+attack move for staff.

Battle mage sounds really fun though, and i just picked up a good greatsword.

I started full rogue, respecced to full mage, but now I think I'm going to go rogue/mage hybrid. Poison Blink sounds fun.

The RNG is really funny like that. Seems like I find nothing but gear for the other two specs no matter what spec I am in. I was looking for a greatsword when I first thinking of switching to battlemage. Could not get one to drop for the life of me. So I finally found one at the Warsworn store but it needed two gems to be decent. And frankly was not as good as the hammer I was using. So I gemmed it up, swapped out and was ready to roll as soon as I sell my hammer.

Open the vendor and now he has a GS that is better than the one I just gemmed by sagecrafting my own gems. So I sell that GS and equip the new one from the vendor. Head out to a quest cave near by and open the first chest. Greatsword in there... identical to the one I just dropped 4k on. /facepalm

This game does have an intangibly high fun factor though. Seems like the farther I get in the more I am enjoying it. I got a house now! So I can finally stop carrying around my Mass Effect armor. Was sure hard breaking that set. Even the meager .2 health regen it had was sure nice for saving on potions.

The ME set is the main reason I kinda want to try respeccing Warrior. :P I figure I won't be able to use it for much longer...

Yeah spider town. After you buff it all up it's pretty swank. Full crafting tables, a garden to grow flowers, armor racks. And you can buy backpacks from some vendors. They add to the number you can carry.

I like the mobility and flow of the combat, but it needs a higher difficulty setting than hard. Maybe this balances out a little later but I can oneshot three guys with the mark of flame or w/e. Even meeleeing, I'll often go a few fights without taking any damage at all.

Yeah.. any single-target fights are pretty cake. Multi-target fights can be rough at times for me. I'm trying to play without using the Fateweave mechanic, but it is really fun and gives a crapload of EXP.

spider town related did you elect to fight the Widow or destroy the town?

Indeed. If it ever gets too hard you can go into ******* mode and even the boss fights are trivial. that is beginning to annoy me.

I killed the Widow. Was merely a set back for her though, or so she claims.

I'm actually having a difficult time as a Finesse player. You can only assassinate humanoid mobs, so chain stealth kills aren't possible for most enemies (and you won't one-shot a mob without the assassination animation). So I generally find myself in an open combat scenario, but with low defenses and weapons that rely on crit (at relatively low gear levels).

With Faeblades I don't get any assassination animation and I can still one-shot any mob, humanoid or not, with stealth attack. I crit for over 10000 damage from stealth. You probably just need to get a few more levels and some better gear before stealth becomes a viable option.

As far as open combat situation goes at lower level, the best way is to be mobile. Just move around the battlefield, never stay in one spot for more than a few seconds. Get a few hits on a mob, dodge away find another target get a few more hit then out again. Fights will be longer but if done right you can dispatch 4-5 enemies without getting hit. Parrying can be really useful also if you get the timing right.

10000 dmg from stealth, i assume you are fairly high level. how do you find the difficulty at that level?

Yeah, she's a Fae, so she's just going to end up coming back anyways.

I was so tempted to side with her and kill the townsfolk. I can never pull the trigger and be truly evil in those games. Typically it ruins so many quests that its not worth doing.

I'm level 35 and playing on normal. I should probably switch to hard cause it's really easy. The game actually gets easier as you get higher levels. You're still fighting the same mobs at lvl 30 that you were fighting at lvl 10. They just have more HP and deal more damage but the attack patterns and abilities are the same. By that time you really should know the best way to take them out depending on your build.

I used Fateweaving to finish her, so I like to think that her end was a little more permanent than she expected.

It's like pulling teeth for me too. I enjoy games most when I feel like my avatar, and unbridled cruelty just isn't in my cards. Now, I'm not a goody-two-shoes either, but that's typically where all the rewards lie. Not much of a middle ground to be found, which is problematic.

I'm doing an evil playthrough in Skyrim as a change of pace, and it's just brutal. Every time I do a Daedric quest, I practically have to close my eyes and grit my teeth, to off some soulless NPC.

Yeah, bad playthroughs are rough for me. Actually, the only game I can do it in is TOR, and only for the Sith. I think it has to do with the fact that I'm expected to be Dark Side that just makes it okay for me.

In everything else, I'm good.
