What you see is what you see. How you move is how you move.

Ever get that glare off the screen in the middle of an epic firefight that caused you to have to refocus long enough for your enemy to gain an advantage.

http://smarthouse.com.au/Smart_Ideas/Industry/S7L5H2W4?page=1

With this you won't have to a personal TV in a light weight head piece.

Now if sony could only add a way to make this compatible with the PS Move (or other move type systems.) Say in the form of your head controlling where you look, crouching and jumping.

Imagine being able to block out all other "distractions" from your living room, your eyes being the PC's eyes, your movements being the PC's movements.

Full immersion into the "body" of a character, from the comfort of your own living room...

Hey one could dream right.

So I can physically trudge back and forth across Skyrim? Yay! Smiley: laugh

It's a neat dream but I'm not sure how flailing around your living room, physically acting out MW3 is going to work out. Especially with you being blinded by a giant TV strapped to your face so you can't see the coffee table.

who said flail about? I said jumping and crouching, with the looking being controlled by the head set position. Swinging a sword is done with the motion controllers (or raising a shield, or shooting a gun.) You don't play many move/wii games I take it? The only thing really missing is crouching jumping and looking.

If I wanted to run around shooting people id go play paintball.

I tried one of those at Six Flags a couple of years ago, with the game being Dark Forces: Jedi Knight multiplayer. As neat as it sounds, all the accelerometer did was act like page up/down keys instead of an actual mouse look. You had to keep your head exactly still or the camera would pan wildly about, which is going to be impossible for this thing since it's most likely going to weigh 5-10 pounds.

Actually I thought that was secret code letting people know they would get a free bag of weed if they actually bought the thing.

I've played plenty of Wii games. They didn't involve a TV strapped to my face and were a far cry from "full immersion into the body of a character".

well of course you had to look at a TV. The difference with this and generic TV is that all you see is the screen. Which means all you see in first person games would be what you see in the game. Im not sure how close you play to your TV, but I have a feeling only seeing the game environment would be a lot more closer to full immersion, then before.

Not from the Jedi game I played at Universal Studios or the Aladdin's flying carpet game I played at Disney World.

Video helmets are more gimmicky than effective because they tend to only superficially reproduce the intended effect. Why don't 3D movies feel incredibly immerse and life-like? Because parallax is only one of several effects our eyes use to determine distance. It fails to mimic several other effects used in depth perception such as differing convergence angles (since all objects are exactly screen length away).

I'd buy one.
But only if I can connect many things to it. TV, Game system (ps3, PsVita being the new Sony thing, etc), PC.

Reminds me of Nintendo's failed Virtual Boy system.

Although, it would be nice to have some sort of peripheral vision in 3rd person shooter games.

If it does not burn your retinas out or make you want to puke with motion sickness, then it might be pretty neat.
