Today's Steam Daily is Battlefield: Bad Company 2 for five bucks. No idea how the multiplayer is these days but the single player campaign was fun and easily worth the five bucks. Third person with AI squadmates with a good bit of humor and doesn't take itself too seriously. At the time I had played it right after SpecOps so it was an interesting juxtaposition of genres
It's not a well reviewed or well rated game but... you know... maybe someone here has too much time on their hands and too many dollar bills laying around.
I just read a rather compelling preview for a new game called "Don't Starve". It's made by the same folks that made "Shank" and "Mark of the Ninja". In the game, you start out with nothing and no idea what to do. Your basic goal is to survive, and most importantly, don't starve. It's a game of discovery. It tells you nothing, you basically have to figure it out on your own, and that sort of thing appeals to me greatly. Here's a trailer:
It won't be released until the 23rd, but can be preordered on Steam right now for $11.99. Preordering it gets you into the beta as well as getting you second giftable copy. Which brings me to why I'm here. I've got this extra copy just sitting here, and I don't know anyone that would be interested in it, which means it's up for grabs. Since BeanX hooked me up with Bioshock, he gets first dibs, if he's not interested, the first person who is can have it.
Some of their updates over the month kind of messed up the way people were playing the game. In addition to the Tree Guard, they added various other demons and enemies that attack you. It seems the designers basically did not want you to be able to bunker down and build a self sustaining camp.

Got it, not because I think the game is or will be any good, but it was free.

Fell asleep watching TV last night, and forgot to share it, but GOG is having an oldschool D&D game sale-- up to 80% off for 10 games (each game you buy adds 10% off).
Baldur's Gate 1 & 2, Neverwinter 1 & 2, Icewind 1 & 2, Planescape, Dragonshard, Demon Stone, and The Temple of Evil.
Wish I had waited to buy Planescape, since it's one of the sale titles. But I had been waiting for Neverwinter and BG2 to go on sale, so.

I saw that and would've jumped on it but I already have all of those except Dragonshard and Demon Stone. I don't know enough about either of them to know if I want them or not.

Someone magically make Tomb Raider go on Sale this weekend. I need a new game, also it can't be from BackwaterGames.ru or something. Steam or Amazon.
Amazon has it for 30% off ($35) today. Not a super deep discount but I understand the game has been selling well so they may not be in a hurry to dramatically slash the price.

That will do! Yoink.

Amazon also has Dead Island GOTY on sale 75% off ($4.99). Part of a promo deal for Riptide, buying the Dead Island GOTY edition gives you an 8 dollar credit for pre-ordering Riptide.
And, if you are into 1990s casual PC gaming, there is a Hoyle Bundle. Card/Board games for the PC.

I jumped all over this thinking $4.99 was a good deal. Apparently I had a gift card on Amazon which took $4.99 off at checkout.

$4.99 is the cheapest it has been (aside from a GG error where it was $3.99). So it's a good deal, gift card or no.
I know, that's why I chose to buy it. The 5 dollar gift card sitting there in Amazon was a bonus. I had forgotten about it. I can't claim to have gotten as good a deals as you have, but I'm very thrifty when it comes to gaming.
