Alan Wake is shown as the weekend deal on Steam but Sniper Elite franchise is also on sale. Sniper Elite V2 is $16.99 for the weekend. Amazon had it for $15 recently but a couple bucks more isn't bad.

Edit: The Weekend Deal spot is rotating and showing both. Anyway, have at it.

Sleeping Dogs for $37.44 (25% off) at Get Games Go in case you skipped the bajillion pre-order offers and decided you want to play.
Sleeping Dogs is pretty fun. The story is really well done. I'd grab it if you like playing through the story of GTA-type games. There's not a huge variety of weapons, and weapons in general are not super accessible. You typically run around unarmed, so if running around and shooting up the city is your prime method of enjoyment in these games, it might not be for you.

I picked up Crusader Kings II. I think I tore the anterior cruciate ligament in my right knee from trying to kick myself in the ***. Apparently I didn't learn after playing Europa Universalis that the people at Paradox are sadists. I spent three hours last night reviewing the family trees of all my vassals, and computing who of my heirs I need to remove in order to properly control the descent of my desmesne, and then making gifts of various titles and honorary titles.

Oh, and I kicked Harald Hardrada's Norwegian butt to the curb the night before. There was no cause for him to call me a *******, just because I suffered an illegitimate birth! (Playing as William the Conqueror).

If you buy a game through there, do they send you a license (so that I could activate it on steam instead), or is it just through that service?

You get an EA key. Once activated you just launch it like a standard application, no client (Origins) is used; just double-click on the icon and go. EA wanted to install their download manager after I installed Alice: MR but I canceled out and Alice worked fine. It's not a Steam key though.

EA did have me activate the key through them and its tied to my account so I imagine I can re-download it through them should I ever need.

I should make clear that's just for Alice: Madness Returns. If a game is a Steamworks title (Shogun 2, Civ V, Mafia II, etc) then you get a Steam key to activate. Alice: MR is sold on Steam but it's not a Steamworks title. If a game on GG is Steamworks it'll say in the product description under "DRM" and/or "Activation" like so.

I bought Shogun 2 from Gamers Gate and have been having a devil of a time getting it installed. First, GG had me download the game and provided the key - took 10 hours at about 375kb/sec. Then, I went to launch the game and Steam opened up and asked for the key. While that was happening, the GG installer asked if I wanted to keep the temporary files, and since I'm running out of space I hit the "no" button. Then Steam started downloading the game . . .

Huh? I already downloaded it.

But I foolishly dumped the Gamers Gate files! Oh no! And the Steam download was taking for ever (20 hours versus 10 for GG) so I stopped it and re-downloaded from GG, figuring I just did something stupid by dumping the temp files too quickly.

Well, no. Same problem and now I have the temp files. I go trolling around looking for a solution, try a couple of suggestions, nothing works. Now, I'm letting Steam download the darn files and do its own install.

Next don't install anything Steamworks through GG and just put the Steam code into Steam to activate it and download through there.

I had a similar thing with Assassin's Creed: Revelation where the install wasn't loved by the games patching client and I had to reinstall from scratch through Uplay. But Alice was fine, presumably because it's not tied to a separate client like Steam of Uplay.

Kingdoms of Amalur, Battlefield 3 and Mass Effect 3 are $16 each through Origins.

Mass Effect 3 is weird. It shows $16, then flashes to the regular price but comes up as $16 still if you add it to your cart.

I called and it was quick and painless. Had a good laugh with the CSR (a young sounding guy) who agreed that it was ridiculous and placed my order.

But most of my experience with TD has been to drive on over to the warehouse store in Naperville, IL and say "Gimme" in person.

Every time I've ever had to call them, it was over an hour wait on the phone. Glad to hear they've gotten better.

Amazon has a few bundles.
Spec Ops: the Line + Bioshock 1/2 for $20
Darkness 2+Duke Nukem Forever+Borderlands for $20

Darkness II is $10 stand alone but Spec Ops is sadly $25. Guess you could buy the bundle and use the Bioshock copies to cook in butter and whip at cars.
