By now I've reached the point where I kinda stop keeping track of my levels. I had to check just now to see what I even was (16, with 2 bars until 17). Which is nice, because it means that the game is entertaining me enough that I don't need to derive value from my progress in levels--progress in story is more than sufficient.

I played a lot this weekend Oo.

Level 26 Jedi Shadow (Got my speeder woot) (They nerfed splicing again((It probally needed it)) I had 75k at level 25.)
Level 16 Bounty Hunter
Level 10 Smuggler
Level 11 Sith Inquis
Level 10 Jedi Knight
Level 13 Bounty Hunter
Level 10 Trooper

So far my Shadow is going Infiltrator. I tried the tank spec when I got Dr. Healy on Nar Shadah but I prefer the HIGH output DPS of Infiltrator. Balance seemed nice for the Aoe but Infiltrator has so much force regen + arpen back stabbing that he just eats mobs so much faster.

Still loving this game so far.

Think I'm 11 or 12 now. I did The Essele? What ever the instance was on the port ship.
That was cool.
I don't understand the numbers when in Option Choice when talking/picking an option. Is it whoever "rolls" the highest number, they are used to talk?

And I have no idea how to spec lol. DPS...but oi.

Also (and I know we have a SWTOR forums, but it seems dead. I never see people there.) Am I able to respec to tank or am I stuck with DPS Jedi (yea, still learning class names) and need to level another one up to go "Tank" side.
I ask because I was used as the tank tonight, and it might be funnier if I was speced that way rather then trying to dish out dps and hope the healer can handle it (Healer!? Dude had a gun! Smiley: lol can you tell I'm geeking? I think I'm done with WoW and FFXI for awhile).

You can't respec your advanced class choice. But you can respec your skill tree's any time. There is a skill mentor near the class trainers on Fleet and in some planets. First one was free, second one was like 325c, then 1000c. Have not respeced higher than that but yeah if you have a tank/DPS or healer/DPS you can respec to the tree that boosts it.

You might be able to skate by sometimes early on with just switching to the tank stance that improves threat and armor etc when you need to from my experience. It starts to get more demanding later on but yeah Essless is fun for a first dip in the pool.

Oh and to answer the social points question. Yes its a random roll on who gets to talk. Everyone gets some social points but if you win the roll you get more. Kind of a fun little thing when you pop up and are like "Do as I say now!" and whatnot.

*Edit also to say that the taunt and armor boost stances for tanking skills are attained at level 14 ish from my experience so far. Kind of the same for big heals. So before that for things like the Esseless and Heroics its just kind of a toss up. But CC/stuns can still help.

If you chose the Guardian spec (1 lightsaber), you'll be able to pay an npc to reset your spec points, so you can switch between DpS and tank builds.

But if you chose Sentinel (2 lightsabers), you will not be able to tank. At least not later on. Specs aren't like talent trees--Jedi Sentinel and Jedi Guardian are essentially two different classes that just share core skills related to the discipline of being a Jedi Knight.

All the Jedi Knight trees are based around different Lightsaber Combat Forms, which made me nerdgasm. For example, the form that Jedi Guardian tanks use was the one Obi-Wan Kenobi became a master of. :3

And the TOR forums aren't dead. They're not actually that much less active than the class forum for WoW. 10-20 posts a day, I'd wager. And if no one uses them, they'll never become more active... Just saying. The guild recruitment forum is a waste of space, though.

People seem to be somewhat upset about how you can't change your AC, but I like to just think of it as being two completely separate classes that share the same storyline. If you play WoW and are playing Mage and decide you would really prefer to be a Rogue, you can't just change classes, you have to level from scratch. Just because these classes share some abilities and 10 levels of story doesn't really matter.

Also, what server are you guys on. I'm playing on Jung Ma for now. Hoping that the RP-PVP servers have some good World PVP later on, though I haven't done many warzones. The PVE content has kept me entertained thoroughly.

I'm on Whitebeam Run (PVE). I'm honestly considering migrating though. It's fairly quiet most of the time.

I'd be happiest on a high-medium server, I think. Little to no wait to log on, but a lot of people to make getting groups easier. If I'm going to switch servers, sooner would be better than later. I'm already 19 on my Sage...\

[EDIT]

Apparently my server is "standard." Maybe I'll go ahead and check out another one.

I just found a great site that's been monitoring server populations over time. Whitebeam Run has been moving between Light and Standard. I'm moving to The Constant now, which moves between standard and Heavy, generally.

Cornellys run (totally spelled wrong) pve. Always packed or locked. Rl friends started on it during early launch. Have another or super low when I could not log on due to server lock
Not done and pvp yet. Trying to decide on a Jedi/sith class to play.

I really enjoy playing my Sith Marauder. He's level 15 now, it is slow compared to EQII and WoW (in EQII it's very easy to get the first ten levels in under one hour) but that's not a bad thing I'ld say. There don't seem to be that many quests around, but the ones I find are fun and engaging. I felt a tiny bit disappointed at the starter zone for the Sith, mostly because it's quite lineair, but Dromund Kaas is a blast to run around in and quest. It's surprisingly huge imo.

My Assassin is level 20 currently. Ranged tanking is tricky right now; I wish Shock and Force Lightning had a longer range.

Main reason I went Sage first on my Consular actually. Range gets buffed to 30.
