Thanks to the SMB team leaving their SQL database unlocked and it getting hacked, the achievement for the Holiday event was changed from completing only one Xmas level to all of them. Smiley: mad

Must have been the traditional Steam pricing error we get with every sale.

I picked it up. At $12, it was probably my largest single purchase this sale.

All my achievement gifts were lame. Best I received was a 66% coupon for CoD: MW 2 and a 75% coupon for Sacred 2. Rest were cal or 10-50% coupons for garbage. Maybe if I see those two games go on sale between Jan 2nd and March, I'll apply the coupon on top and go for it.

I had to pick up FO:NV and all the DLC. I already have it on the 360, but no DLC. For 15 bucks you can't beat it. I want to pick up that D&D: Daggerdale, but don't know if it's worth it. I have until 11 or so today to decide.

I bought (between Steam & Amazon):

Assassin's Creed: Director's Cut
Borderlands: GOTY
Bastion
Beat Hazard
Binding of Issac
Bulletstorm
Civilization V
Cryostasis
Deus Ex: Human Revolution
Dragon Age 2
Fallout: New Vegas (with DLC)
Homefront
LA Noire
Metro 2033
Mount & Blade: Warband
Payday: The Heist
Red Faction: Armageddon
Red Faction: Guerrilla
Stalker: Clear Sky
Star Wars: KotOR
Terraria (for the kid)
Total War: Shogun 2
Universe Sandbox

Huh. That's more than I thought once I list it all out Smiley: laugh

On the bright side, the most I spent on any one game was $12 for LA Noire and most of those were $1-$5 games. A few were bought using the $5 coupons Amazon was giving away when you made a purchase.

This Christmas sale I only bought,

Plants vs. Zombies
Blood Bowl: Legendary Edition
FO: NV (with DLC)
D&D: Daggerdale

If we count what I've bought from Steam this year, you have to add

FO3, GOTY Edition, and Borderlands. Steam offers great value that's for sure. I also grab games from GoG.com quite often.

I picked up Bastion and L.A. Noire, and am a bit tempted to get Arkham City. I've got so much other stuff to play though, that I might just wait a bit on that one. I can probably get it cheaper in a few months.

Don't craft anymore gifts unless you want Valve only coupons, they ran out of coupons/games for the other vendors.

Eske Esquire was talking about From Dust when he wrote:
I mean, its a fun game. it's just not very substantial, and its got a few hangups.

If it drops to say, $5, that'd be a perfect price point.

Currently $3.74 at Greenmangaming.com. No idea for how long.

I picked up Bastion, Civ V GOTY, and the Overlord Complete Pack (Overlord, Raising Hell, Overlord II).

Enjoying them all. I like Overlord because it's just funny. I mean, how can you not laugh when you send your impish minions after a small herd of sheep and the next thing you know, one of your minions has jumped on a sheep's back and is bapping it over the head with their club? Or you send your minions after some rats and they come back wearing the rats on their heads as helmets. I'd play it more if the controls weren't so awkward, but I enjoy the hell out of it in small doses.

Civ V has apparently received mixed reviews. It's significantly different in certain areas compared to previous Civ titles. For starters, you don't need to garrison units in your cities. Cities have their own health bar and their own ranged attack they can use once per turn. You also can't stack military units, but you can get flanking bonuses for having units on adjacent tiles when you attack. They also added a "policy" track that's sort of like a talent tree where you can spend culture for different perks that can actually make a huge difference. You don't need to load land units onto transports to move them across water anymore, but they're defenseless against naval units while they're in the water. Best of all, the final military unit upgrade is the Giant Death Robot.

And Bastion is Bastion. <3
