Really? No minecraft thread after the release?

Well anywho, I'm on a MP vanilla survival server with some friends. Started my first big project working on a desert castle--yeah so original I know. It's really coming along. Got three photos. Clearing out a 128x128 square of the desert was a fairly imposing task, but I got help from friends. As for design, I'm mostly winging it. I would have liked to have made it larger so that I could afford to do more detailed work, but I wasn't prepared to go that big with a starter project.

Any of you guys still playing?

Did something change? Because there was a huge *** mincraft thread o.O
I have not played in a few weeks. I was playing on a friend's server, but others set out to see if they could crash it (and did) and I have not tried to log on.

There's a Minecraft forum now, for some godawful reason. I played a little bit of the release, but frankly it's just disheartening to see how unfinished it still is and how much Notch lied about all the features he was going to add.

Haven't played since 1.8 came out, mostly because 1.7 had the amazing Aether mod, which blew everything in 1.8 out of the water. I tried to get the launcher going the other day, but I can't connect to minecraft.net, so I can't download (presumably) the full release. No idea what the issue is, but nothing I've seen really interests me enough to care right now.

Here are two things I've made and made available to the public.

Fort Neckbeard

Ithrilis Temple

Both links have pictures and download links to the respective schematics.

I'm currently working on a pretty decent sized project at the moment. Since I've just recently beat skyrim I figured it was time to build something from there. So, hopefully soon I'll have Dragonsreach finished. I have the base structure mostly finished. Then I'll need to actually do all the detail work and work on the surrounding land. Once that's finished I'll upload it to mcschematics as well so if any of you feel the urge you can check it out.

I've been playing mc forever it seems, alpha 1.2?

A couple of my friends are completely nuts about Minecraft.

Can someone tell me what drives people to play the game? I mean, I get the sandbox appeal and all, but is that it? There's no goal in it, except to build and such?

For me its the power to build anything I want. On my private server I have a huge medieval city, a giant water temple, 3 airships, 1 giant boat, a few HUGE trees.

Some people play for the adventure aspect of it, but for me Minecraft is a canvas and I'm free to do whatever it is I want. I love building and creating things it's such a wonderful way for me to exercise my imagination. Just look at my two links previous and you'll see why I play as much as I do.

Yahtzee does minecraft. Also NSFW but honestly that shouldn't come as a surprise.

Lol, that was awesome. Its true though, you'll sit down and start working on something and literally 9 hours later you're sitting there wondering where the hell the day went.

I have a SMP I would love to start adding people to it however I don't know enough about mods/plug-ins to protect against griefing. Its just too easy for somebody to ruin months work.

The simplest solution Fronglo is to only invite people you trust.

I could run one, I can easily dedicate 8 gigs of ram to a server off my main box. But for whatever reason whenever I would try to change the allotted ram for my bukkit server it just kept crashing on me. Quite the annoyance.

Would be nice to see a ZAM people's Minecraft server again. I long for the days of simple building and gathering.

I picked it up for Android yesterday on sale for $0.10. Seems kinda fun; simple and perfect for a mobile/commuter game. Should fill boring train rides nicely.

It doesn't have "survivor" mode, whatever that is. Not sure what I'm missing.

Yea I bought PE the day before it went on sale.....sigh. Anyways Survival Mode is what makes Minecraft.. Well that and being able to actually craft items. They say in future updates it is coming though. Not a big fan of PE right now as it is such a limited area. Still it is fun to play while at work when I have some spare time. Id say few months from now it will be more complete.

Esquire - creative mode is just building things. Good for creative people and posting videos, but it's not where the real fun is. Survival is a much more fun game imo. It's an actual adventure type mode.

Hopefully they patch it in, then. Though controlling on my little droid is more than a bit touch-and-go...I wonder if it'll get frustrating when there's a negative consequence to not being quick or precise enough.

Even on the Xperia it don't seem to control as well as the PC version. Hopefully they will factor that in when adding Creepers and such.

So this is the server I've been playing on lately:

50.115.45.227:25565

It's another one of DJ's Wasteland PvP servers, but we've got it right this time. Everything is in place and working as intended, and all plugins are updated. I am a moderator there and take a large part in the server's development. We have a website now, and more active players than ever.

I'm currently having a lot of fun with the new enchantment stuff for weapons and armor and the like.

I made a video for our server. It could have been better I think, but it turned out pretty good. Tell me what you think Smiley: grin
