If not just for pure nostalgia, show me some of your favorite video game music tracks. Try not to include ones everyone's heard. Pick some obscure ones most people have likely not heard before.

Here are some of my favorites:

Wario Blast - Danger Zone (Game Boy)
Fire Zone

Sonic & Knuckles: Flying Battery Zone(has some great remixes)

Shadow Gate: Banquet Hall (NES)

This song (or these songs)
seem to go by so many names I'm not sure which is correct. You may have heard the first one before from being McRolled. This song came on while I was watching Star Wars episode IV during the Death Star assault scene and it was pretty cool.

Those of you who don't play FFXIV should know it has some pretty amazing tracks.

Ninja Gaiden FTW.

Donkey Kong - Pyramid (Game Boy)

Link's Awakening has some of the best music in the series franchise.

Also, shame on you if you've never played FF Tactics.

Oh, here we go.

For starters, there's a YouTube channel called VG Music of the Day that's definitely worth checking out. A lot of these links are from that channel.

The Streets of Whiterun from Skyrim

Another Winter from Scott Pilgrim vs the World

Sanctuary from Kingdom Hearts 2 () and The 13th Anthology from Kingdom Hearts 2 Final Mix+ () Yoko Shimomura is a goddess.

Savior of the Dreaming Dead (), Savior of the Waking World (), and Homestuck Anthem () from Homestuck Not technically a video game, but it's made in the style of one. I'll count it.

You May Call Me Father (), The Greatest Jubilee (), and Sapienta - In the Choice Between Good and Evil (), all from Bayonetta. The Greatest Jubilee in particular is the best final boss music I've ever heard.

Vigil from Mass Effect

Cara Mia from Portal 2

A Place to Call Home from FFIX

Strike! from the first American Fire Emblem

Finish the Fight () and Never Forget () from Halo 3\

A Fleeting Dream from Final Fantasy X To Zanarkand was just too obvious. And I actually like this one better, in context. God that game was sad/good.

The Doom Dragon Theme from Golden Sun: The Lost Age If Bayonetta didn't exist, this would be my favorite final boss music.

Ocarina of Time Medley from Super Smash Bros. Brawl

Reset from Okami

The Beethoven Virus from Pump It Up

The Sunlit Earth from Shadow of the Colossus

Main Title Theme from Metroid Prime 2: Echoes

Ah, some of the old songs from the Genesis games I used to play pop into my head from time to time. The Sonic ones stand out the most, but they're easy enough to find and everyone's familiar enough with 'em.

A couple ones that are less common, that I love:

Road Rash (Vermont Theme)

Lotus Turbo Challenge (Main Theme)

Lotus Turbo Challenge had a bunch of good ones. I wish I could find the theme to the Storm track, but it doesn't seem to be around anywhere.

More recently, I love the Chrono Cross opening theme (Time Scar?), and the Metal Gear theme. Both are a lot of fun to play and sound beautiful as Classical Guitar arrangements; look for a youtube video or audio track of someone playing them that way. And does it get any better than the music from SoTC?

Wish I could add more, but it's a pretty busy day at work.

EDIT: Not to busy to mention a couple of other good ones as they come up, I guess. The One who is Split Asunder (not sure of the official title) is super haunting. Xenogears had a bunch of great ones like that.

I named my guy "Screwface" in that game. Always. I was pretty decent with the bat too.

Holy sh*t. I totally forgot Road Rash!

I must have rented Road Rash 3 for the Sega Genesis like 20+ times from Blockbuster as a kid. I remember the music and playing two players with my brothers. We'd laugh our asses off. There just wasn't anything like it at the time.

Some good ones:

Title Screen
Germany
Italy (@#%^ing boss)
I'm so glad you brought up Road Rash. The Italy theme is possible one the greatest video game tracks ever made.
Japan was my favorite as a kid.

Obligatory gameplay video. Just watch and remember it's awesomeness.

Hey Kuwoobie, the official title of the song is "U.N. Owen was her" so you can rest easy now.

Anyway here are some of my favorites:

Snake Eater from MGS3 got the James Bond feel down pat:

The music for the original Contra kicked ***, but I just had to post this awesome cover instead:

You Goddamned Bathead from Castlevania Chronicles:

Yell Dead Cell from MGS2:

A True Last Boss from Shin Contra (Shattered Soldier):

I can't remember which version it was in, but I loved the death scenes. The ones where like, the ambulance would drive in, run you over, put your motorcycle on the stretcher, and drive off with it. They were like mini silent film comedy bits.

Since the call was "try not to include ones everyone's heard", I'll skip the FFVI stuff, and the Chrono Trigger as well. That said, I can't ignore some of the Castlevania.

Ogre Battle - Autumn Sky/Womanheart:

Castlevania II - Bloody Tears & Monster Dance:

Without busting out Final Fantasy stuff or Metal Gear May CrySpoiler Text type remixes, I can't think of any more atm.

Most of the music in World of Warcraft is amazing.

I know you said stuff we haven't all heard, but unless I'm a special snowflake, I'm betting others also turned off in-game music after a while to play other stuff in the background. The music is amazing, but even amazing music turns monotonous after a couple of hours of looping it.

When I think of WoW music I think of the first time I stepped out into Westfall and heard the music there, and wondered, "just how big is this world?" It doesn't seem so big now that I've been everywhere years later though.

Decent II Track 11 Final Boss robot fight.

Decent II Opening

Dungeon Keeper II main theme. Starts slow, but gets interesting quickly.

Gabriel Knight III Theme

Secret of Monkey Island Theme. Theres a better version but i'm having trouble finding it online.

Command and conquer 1-3 Hell march 1-3 (interesting to see the transition over the years. i still like #1 best though.

And then of course, being the all time world record holder at microsoft tetris for windows 3.1, you have to have the legendary Tetris soundtrack!

This. Though I've found Cata music to be pretty lacking. Wrath music, though... Oh my God. Wrath music.

This isn't just because I have a hardon for the bassoon in Grizzly Hills, since I played bassoon myself in high school.

In the same boat. One of my favorite memories of WoW is just wandering around in Westfall questing at night. Just questing. I don't know, but that was awesome for me, back when I was still so new to the game. Heh, I tried leveling a Holy Priest in Vanilla. Ho boy.

Planescape: Torment. Pretty much the entire soundtrack is awesome.

That's just the main title theme. Every song is awesome except for 1 or 2.

I know Castlevania - Symphony of the Night has a very good soundtrack. I also like the "Clash with the Librarian" (Archivist battle theme) from Suikoden: Tierkreis. Can't think of any others off the top of my head ATM though.

Whisper of Hell
Welcome to the Devil's Castle
Underworldreminds me of Gundam for some reason.

One of my favorite video game songs is Hazardous Highway from Kingdom Hearts II.

I also love listening to my Black Mages CDs. Those arrangements are fun, and I enjoy watching people's expressions when they learn that they are listening to arrangements of video game music, since they expect most video game music to still be 8-bit beeps and boops.

I sometimes like to hum the Doctor Mario and Tetris main themes. Those will get stuck in my head for days at a time in some cases.
