I really hope she gives you the star. In Oblivion, I kinda just always gave up on my enchanted weapons because it was too annoying to recharge them. :P The Star meant never having to carry around and manage soul gems, and that was awesome.

She does, but since enchanting is a skill, you'll still want to use soul gems instead of carrying souls one at a time to an alter, at least to skill up.

I've found the easiest way to make money early on is mining. The Transmute spell changes Iron ore into Silver ore, and Silver ore into Gold ore. There are a number of mines outside of Markath (a city I woke up in after taking up some dude at the Inn in Windhelm on his offer of a drinking game). I walked out of that place with over 10k gold in ore and jewels. Which for a level 15 is a good chunk of money. Also, I found the Stone of the Lover(also outside of Markath) who's bonus is a increase in all skill rates.

i had my horse for about 30 minutes before a sabretooth jumped out and killed it before i could dismount and draw my weapons.

Now I want to buy a horse just to see if a dragon will pick it up.

Also, Vile's dog Barbas is a ****, he's pushed me off a cliff twice now.

I really wish they'd at least let you fire the bow from horseback.

Glad I saw that because I was starting to assume it was immortal. I was working on a quest on my horse and got jumped by four bandits. By the time I had managed to get down and kill one, the horse had already killed 2 and the third was almost dead when I got to it.

You might be disappointed. I assume it was a bug but I watched a moose or ram or whatever the thing was go toe to toe with a dragon for a while. My NPC and I took pot shots at it while it flew around but finally it got it's **** handed to it when it decided to attack some giants. Dragons sure aren't the brightest creatures.

You know what makes you feel like a badass? Dragon hunting, and whenever the dragon's about to breathe on you, you use your wards and take no damage at all.

You know what makes you feel like the exact opposite? Getting jumped by a bear right after, then dieing in 3 hits.

Yeah, the enemies scale very strangely. I just dominated a dragon, then had the fight of my life against a sabre cat immediately afterwards.

Just had a run in with the headless horseman. Smiley: yikes

I've seen a dragon get bored fighting me and wonder over to a couple of bears to fight them instead. The bears won...

Honestly, I think bears in general are a bit overpowered. I can kick the crap out of a dragon fairly easily now that I've got some decent gear and spells, but bears beat the **** out of me on a regular basis.

Bears and Giants are definitely OP. Also, I'd love for someone to explain Azura's shrine to me. Sounds like something I'd be interested in.

So, I encountered something last night that made me even more impressed with the game. Minor spoilers about a side quest below.

So, I'm doing this quest where I have to collect journal pages from a cave/ruins way up North. The place has droughts and annoying ghost chicks in it. I get into the final room, and sitting there on a throne is the boss guy and one of his ghost women. I try a couple of times to kill them, but I can't seem to take them both easily. So I see that my actual goal (the journal) is in a room behind him, so since I'm a sneaky character I decide to try to sneak around them. Lo and behond, it works. There's another ghost in the next room but she doesn't notice me either, and I make out with the journal, a nice staff, and a few other goodies. So then I get back into the throne room, and I'm about 15 feet behind the throne. I notice something shiny, which turns out to be a soul gem. I take it, and suddenly the ghost chick standing next to the dude on the throne just starts attacking him, and kills him fairly easily. I just sat there with my mouth open. Never expected that to happen. Then she just goes back to standing at the throne as if nothing happens. I walk up, loot his body, and continue on my merry way. Smiley: grin

I bet Bethesda switched the code for bears and dragons... or at least that's the way it seems. Even blood dragons aren't that strong (leveled regular dragons).

Oh, about Azura's Shrine- Oblivion had the Azura's Star item, an infinite grand soul gem, which was a reward for completing Azura's Star quest.

Azura's Shrine is located south of Winterhold, on a mountain peak. If you reach the dragon burial, you've gone too far. The quest is straightforward, not going to bother posting it, just save before the decision point, though afaik, the reward is the same.

So I happen upon a Stormcloak being held by 4 imperials walking along the road to Windhelm. I decide to free him becuase that's how I roll as a true son of Skyrim. I kill the gaurds and loot their corpses. The prisoner goes running off down the road. I run after him to make sure he is ok. Before I can catch up BAM, bear eats him.

It's a cruel world out there.

@Vataro.

The Daedra lords are princes of various realms of Oblivion (think other worlds). There are a bunch of them (eleven?). The Aedra are the ones who gave their being to create the world of Cyrodiil. There may or may not be a deeper distinction between them, but the Aedra are held to be divine gods and bastions of morality, where the Daedra aren't bound by defintions of morality at all, so idk.

ANYWAY, since the Daedra and Aedra are essentially the same "race," there are plenty of Daedric cults in Cyrodiil that worship the Daedra, whose gifts can often be more tangible than the traditional religion (since they are distinct from the world).

In earlier games, there was usually a quest from each Daedric shrine that you could complete (or partially complete) for some kind of reward. These were usually pretty awesome items too. For instance, one item in Oblivion was the Skeleton Key--a lockpick that gave you +40 Lockpicking skill and couldn't break. Azura's Star was another, a re-usable Grand Soul Gem. Etc.

Generally worth seeking all the shrines out. Or at least looking the rewards up online and visiting those.

On my way up to see the Graybeards, I encounter a bard being set upon by a bear. I dismount and manage to kill the bear somehow. After listening to the bard's story, I leave him on the road singing a song, annoyed that he didn't bother to reward me for saving his ***, and that I lost my horse for the trouble. I head on by foot. A hundred feet or so down the road, I accidentally stumble into a troll's den. I back away slowly, but too late, he comes storming out after me. I run, luring the troll back down the path, then make a wide circle around him and continue on.

As I'm leaving the area, I hear the sound of fighting, and notice the troll's health drop every-so slightly. Then it goes back up, and stays there.

Guess he found the bard.

I'll bet the bard won. That's Something Something The Wanderer. He will sing two songs for you one is about the imperials and one is about the Dragonbourne and Stormcloaks.

I first saw him way north while on a different mission. He was battling it out with a vampire. I gave them both a taste of Fire Breath Shout becuase hey, vampires are scary! Well the vampire went down and bard boy came after me casting crazy spells and was just about to kick my **** when he stopped and was like "Want to hear a song?"

Sounded better than dying to me. I have since seen him again on the entire other side of the world. I listened to both songs but nothing special came from it that I can tell yet.
