Marriage:
1. Can your spouse please do something more than just cook and/or pay some profits? Anything!? Heck, I have several ideas:
A. Throw parties. You host a party in your house to rub elbows with people in the town. Gives a good chance to pickpocket the guests, learn gossip, or accept quests.
B. If your spouse has a shop, be able to invest (with the proper Speech perks), and start a chain to buyout any competition. Would blend wonderfully with the Thieves Guild.
Reminded me of my favorite Oblivion mod- you bought someone's store then turned it into your own general store. From there, you could place items up for sale. Your speechskill and furnishings (that could be bought/upgraded) determining the chance of items being sold and the value they were sold at.

Yesterday before leaving work I bought the 12,000 Windhelm house for 8,000. Today I get to spend decorating it.

I'm going all ***** Eye for the Adventurer up in here.

I just hit the 25k required for the house in Solitude. Worth it?

I'm trying to figure out where I want my base of operations to be. Solitude is probably the coolest city that I've seen (I've been to all but maybe 2 or 3 of the main ones), though I do also like that one to the way northeast that seems to be in a perpetual state of blizzard.

Is there anywhere where you can get an enchanting table in your house? Because that would be the best.

Enchanting tables are a plus. As are nearby smithing stuffs, as I'm probably going to finally start doing something with that.

Note: Found going three to four books at a time keeps the bedroom bookcase from breaking. So yay to that.

My Whiterun house has buggy bookcases (and I can't use the weapon racks anymore).

I found that, as long as I count out the number of books and don't go over the case's maximum, everything is fine.

Both the Windhelm and Solitude houses can be upgraded to include an arcane enchanter and an alchemy lab.

Proudspire Manor (Solitude) is by far the biggest house available (three floors total), but there aren't nearly as many display cases, weapon plaques, and mannequins to show off your spoils as there are in Hjelmir (Windhelm). I prefer the latter, myself.

Is it possible to get both of those houses or are they related to which side you choose in the war?

You can get both, but you'll need to end the civil war. You'll gain access once the new jarl is put in place..

All of the houses (the purchased kind!) other than Whiterun have Enchanting and Alchemy stations really. Whiterun has Lydia instead. =X

Quick questions to those that have completed the game. Once you finish off the big-bad and complete the main story quest chain, do dragons still have random spawns and keep trying to take on Shadowmere to regain the previous dragon's honor? I have been avoiding the main quest like the plague but if I have a chance to put weapons on display and stuff like that I will certainly work my way through it till I get that chance.

If I purchase a new house, do I still get to keep the one in Whiterun?

Sure do. You can own all the houses in the game at once, if you so please.

How many mannequins does Windhelm have?

I love having Proud Spire for the fact it's the most amazing man cave/basement ever. I've got all my **** on display!

I wish though we could get display cases, I'd like to display the dragon claw keys I have but everytime i walk back in they're strewn across the floor.

Hmmm, it would seem windhelm is way better than solitude. I just hate the town for some reason, I don't know what it is.

i hear the solitude house has a huge empty basement which modders are salivating over.

ulfir's book was pretty hilarious. i also think kolb and the dragon and the locked room are pretty good, pick 'em up if you see them.
