I got this in the mail the other day, allegedly from "Aaryn Flynn GM BioWare Edmonton." Normally I don't fall for phishing attempts, but when I checked the links, they lead to official websites (www.ea.com). Here's a print of the e-mail:

Quote:
We recently learned that hackers gained unauthorized access to the decade-old BioWare server system supporting the Neverwinter Nights forums. We immediately took appropriate steps to protect our consumers’ data and launched a thorough ongoing evaluation of the breach. We have determined that no credit card data was compromised from the servers, nor did we ever have or store sensitive data like social security numbers. Our investigation shows that information such as user names, encrypted passwords, email addresses, mailing addresses, names, phone numbers, CD keys and birth dates from these forum accounts on the system may have been compromised, as well as other information (if any) that you may have associated with your EA Account. In an abundance of caution, we have changed your password to ensure account security. Please visit this https://www.ea.com/dk/profile/reset-password?token=INbCdD6FAe0ND8AcYXJcXNF7wxgcOE4kZdE8HVHIoeuHj4m-sSqkEa172hZmf-Wz2X32vhbSoce9lzuFamhDhQ..&locale=da_DK to reset your password immediately.

If your link has expired, click here to generate a new email.

We take the security of your information very seriously and regret any inconvenience this may have caused you. If your username, email address and/or password on your EA account are similar to those you use on other sites, we recommend changing the password at those sites as well. We advise all of our fans to always be aware of any suspicious emails or account activity and report any suspicious emails and account activity to Customer Support at 1-877-357-6007.

If you have questions, please visit our FAQ at http://support.ea.com/app/answers/detail/a_id/5367/ or contact Customer Support at the phone number above.

Studio GM, BioWare Edmonton
VP, Electronic Arts

Like I said, all the links seem to lead to official websites (hence why I haven't removed them), but I can't find any mention of this on the websites (EA.com and BioWare's), hence my continued suspicion.

Anyone else gotten this mail? Anyone know anything about this?

The same topic is a thread on another forum I read. The feel there seems to be that it's legit but I don't know anything about it personally.

Smells like phish.

If Ravashack is correct, then it's probably legit.

You're "Ferret Herder", aren't you. Admit it.

Looks legitimate. I can get to that question through the EA website links alone; just have to search for "5367" in the knowledge base. So unless the website got hacked too (which IS possible) then it's OK.

It's most likely legit. There are reports on Kotaku and ArsTechnicaa about Bioware being hacked.

I got the email yesterday as well. The only problem I'm having is that I don't remember EVER registering my email with EA or Bioware.

I got it twice. I do have an EA account from DA and ME, not that I use it for anything other than the free in game items I got from having the account. I'm not worried.

In the past 5+ years, none that I can think of.

I went to the EA website manually, just in case, and tried to log in. None of my passwords (I can't keep track of them anymore, so I just go through all of them every time, lol) worked, so I guess it was legit.

What's with the unauthorized access issues lately? Anon and LulzSec bored?
