Sony's Welcome Back problem.Follow

Has anyone had an issue with getting the freebies?
My bro tried to get his 2 free games last night (Zombie Nation and Infamous), was able to pick them but was unable to Download them. I just checked and no where on his account does it show the 2 games, but it did register him as picking 2.
Anyone had an issue like this?

Edit: Weird. Guess there was a hick-up or something. This smooth video cleared it up :X

I had issues with it. I was able to get Infamous downloaded, but I'm having trouble with Wipe out.

Did you try what the smooth talker in the video did? It worked for my brother's account.

I got Little Big Planet without a problem. Downloaded Infamous, but haven't installed it yet.

I made the mistake of closing out windows that I thought were downloading the games. That video -- well, the little description under the video, actually, corrected that error and I am now downloading my free games. So ... go team.

This thread reminded me to get mah free games last night. Infamous and LBP for me.

I had played the demo for Infamous, thought it looked fun then forgot about it. I dunno if I will ever play LBP, It's a cutsy platform jumper right? But figured I might as well hoard my free digital stuff while I could.

For the most part. There are some interesting tricks, if I remember correctly.

You can also design your own world, if you like. I'm not creative enough or patient enough to really sit down and do something like that, but some people have done some really interesting things. I played a few of the player created levels, and some of them are terrible, some of them are really neat.

I remember seeing a Youtube video of the entire first Contra game recreated in LBP. I'm looking for it right now.

Eh, LBP is actually kinda awesome. I sat down and played the normal campaign pretty much nonstop. It's short, then you can look at the plethora of user created level (some of which are damned cool). Good game to play with friends/SOs/etc.

Little Big Planet is great as a social game, but gets incredibly boring solo.

I got inFamous and was enjoying it, but learned something that REALLY irritates me.

So, in the game, your girlfriend dies after you are given an ultimatum to save her or a bunch of doctors.

If you choose to save her, it turns out she was an impostor and the real one is with all the other doctors, and they all die.

If you choose to save the doctors, there is no impostor and she dies.

This REALLY pissed me off. I'm fine with her not being savable, but at least make her die after the fact or something. Or while you are trying to save her, and have it be too late to save the doctors instead. They literally change the past of the world according to your choice, and that's bull. >:( I
stopped playing the game when I learned that.

I chose to save the doctors, and happily, at that (more on that later). So I wasn't aware of that. Seems kind of silly though, yeah. I would think that most people who bought the game would play through twice, to see both endings, so logically most people would get that experience. It kind of breaks the immersion, eh? Makes the developers' hands a bit too visible.

As far as Trish goes: I breathed a happy sigh when she died. I did an evil playthrough, and was growing very tired of her incessant nagging. I feel that was emblematic of the game's big weakness (the karma system). They've pigeonholed me into picking straight good, or straight evil, which was bad enough. Now they hamstring my evil Cole, who's apparently willing to fry thousands of civilians who cross his path, by making him answer to his obnoxious girlfriend? Why? It'd be one thing if the game fleshed out their relationship, but it never did. I don't know why Cole cares about her. From day 1 on an evil play through, she treats him miserably, yet whenever she tells him to jump, he says "How high?". Sure doesn't make Cole seem very omnipotent or evil. Matter of fact, all the chores that you get suckered into doing for the mission-givers makes Cole seem much more like an errand boy than a super villain. Him remarking about that in the game doesn't make it okay. For an evil character, I spent about 95% of the game making the city safer.

Evil Cole has no development. His reactions to people barely change at all...there's only a sentence or two that suggest that he's getting more evil. Other than the karmic decision moments, and him getting pale as a ghost, there's no evil characterization until the very end (during which his suddenly very evil persona comes straight out of left field).

Really, it's everything that Allegory hates about Bioware games, now that I think about it (though I think this was a much better example).

I've never really played a BioWare game that actually let you choose between good and evil. Nor do they ever seem to want to let you make that choice--you're always on the "good" side, per se, but you just choose your personality. You're not a super villain trying to destroy the world, at worst your a violent asshat who's out for money.

I was playing a good playthrough in inFamous, so Trish's nagging never seemed super out of place.

I also think the game seems to have peeked too early, which contributes to me not caring about playing more. I have all my major super powers, but still have at least half the game to go I'd wager. Not interested.

Oh, she still nags you even if you're good? I had figured that she only did that to evil Cole.

It is a female, they always nag no matter what.

Lol, yeah. She ends up softening up a bit, and then saying that you two should talk about your relationship when it's all over. Dunno what the evil side is like.

I actually felt like the game was actively punishing me for choosing evil, if that gives you an idea.

Seems pretty fun so far. I'm not very far in but I enjoy playing Parkour man around the city. Makes me want to go out and break my ankle IRL. Ahh to be young again.

Yeah. They apparently added a neutral alignment in Infamous 2 to help with that.

She eventually dies hating Cole for what he's become. At least that's what happens if you stick exclusively to evil the way I have. She dies during one of the first missions on the third island if you choose the evil option. Not sure what she'd say if you chose the good option, which apparently saves her life.

Good option doesn't save her life--like I said earlier in the thread, it's impossible to save her. But she dies seeing that she was wrong, and that you truly were a good person.

Beat Infamous on Evil (and Hard) yesterday after already beating it as a good guy. As stated, the game makes more sense when you're a good guy. I genuinely liked the game barring the fact that it was ****-easy. If I knew it was this good I might've bought it off of my own accord before.

As for the other games, I've been playing LBP pretty hardcore since way before the Welcome Back program. I just picked it so I wouldn't have to use my brother's copy all the time, but how are Wipeout and Dead Nation treating you guys? I've heard some horror stories about Wipeout, depending on your reactions I may actually bother using my other account to download these games.

(Oooooooh. Green. I quite like green.)

Dead Nation is a top down shooter like some of the Contra games and it's pretty good. Wipeout is a racing game that should have stayed in the arcades, but that's my personal opinion.
