... that I recently bought a copy of Neverwinter Nights 2, and I can honestly say that I'm enjoying the hell out of it. In fact, despite the older graphics and some of the more annoying controls, I'd say it's been just as satisfying so far than some of the more recent D&D-type games (KOTOR, Dragon Age, etc.).

Any thoughts on whether or not I should grab Baldur's Gate as well?

I tend to dislike most western rpgs, but Neverwinter Nights was fairly enjoyable. I think my biggest fault in the game was the abominable controls and camera.

There are plenty of expansions for NWN2 to keep you occupied if you think you'd enjoy them.

I grabbed the complete NWN2 pack off of steam a few weeks back. It seemed like it was going to be good, I just couldn't get past the controls and camera.

Icewind Dale, Icewind Dale 2, and Baldurs Gate 2 were awesome games. Just keep in mind how old they are at this point. If you want to go back even further, Torment was pretty good too.

Waiting for the new Neverwinter online game/MMO this November.

I've heard high praise for Torment but also that it's nigh impossible to run on a modern system.

Ask and ye shall receive.

It's been redone to run on modern systems, but you're stuck with the old 640 x 480 resolution.

Not true, there is a way to force it into higher resolutions. You have to change the settings much like changing them for KOTOR.

As for how good the game is, let me just say that it is my favorite Bioware D&D game. Baldurs Gate, Icewind Dale, and the rest DO NOT hold a candle to this game. I actually tried loading up my old discs on my newish PC, and the game is choppy and buggy. I will be downloading the GoG version at some point in the future, and I do plan on finishing it this time.

This.

I still have the original discs. I think I actually have multiple copies of this game. >_>

One of Morte's taunts: "You've got a face only a sledgehammer could love...and HAS."

Edit:Some quotes in the game from the characters even made it to imdb. O_o

Also adjusted the hammer quote...
