'Splain me something...Follow

'cause I'm a bit confused...

Regarding the upcoming expansion in September, I'm a lifetime subscriber so does that mean I will have access to the new zones free and that I am only buying the expansion for the goodies & a new set of install discs? Or do I actually NEED to purchase the X-pac to gain access to the new zones?

I haven't put any research into it, but Turbine will probably handle the expansion like they handled Moria for ftp? You'll have access to the zones, but unless you own the quest pack you cant play the instances/quests. So as a founder, you'll have to buy the expansion to access the content. Do you know if they've mentioned if the expansion will be available in the LOTRO Store?

At the moment, I'm probably not going to buy the expansion. Turbine is trying to stay as uninteresting as possible.

I'm not sure about the answer to OBD's question or Morarae's, but at the moment you can pre-purchase through a third-party site. I have my suspicions about who owns the third-party site, by the way. If anyone does the pre-purchase there are a couple of things to know ahead of time to make it easier.

I did the pre-order for a couple of reasons. You get 1,000 TP, which to my mind decreases the price by about $10.00. Also, you get a 25% exp boost for any characters on your account below L65. The thing is, it's a pocket item so you must equip it and lose out on the stats.

As for the actual process, I don't understand it but it was not that hard to complete. I was sent to the third-party site (a window opened) and I had to provide all the usual information for an online purchase including credit card number. I then got a window with text that I could read that said I should go to my Turbine account page and use the product key on the page (window) I was looking at, but I could not see a product key. I blocked the entire window and saw a lot of text and a product key that were not otherwise visible, so I copied and pasted into notepad.

I then clicked on the link for the Turbine account page and inserted the product key and hit "submit." At that point Turbine took me through the usual process for paying for a subscription, which I already had and which was already active. I went along, figuring I could contact them if I wound up paying twice. At the end I was told I had successfully set up payment. I have checked my bank account info a day later now and do not see any double payment, but they haven't debited me yet for my subscription (it's coming up soon I think).

When I logged in later, the game paused for a second or two while it downloaded something and then continued through the log-in process and I had the +exp pocket item on at least two characters that I checked. I didn't check for the TP though, but I will later.

There are a couple of other things you get with the pre-purchase that don't really interest me much at the moment, including a color-coordinated set of cosmetic armor, a cosmetic cape, and a specialty mount with a color-matching horse blanket. The armor comes in one of those gift packages that you get now when you roll a new character, which I am happy about because it only takes up one storage slot. The cape is separate from that package.

And to illustrate my lack of interest in these items, it occurs to me that I never checked to see if I had the mount. I'm also wondering now, what level does your character have to be in order to get the mount? I wonder if you get it as low as level 1, even though you cannot purchase the riding skill until - what is it? Level 5?
