Stupid name, but can't deny it looks pretty awesome. The play between the controller (which has a 6.2" touchscreen, basically a DS as a controller) and the console/TV is promising.

The HD is a big deal to me. I look forward to playing Mario and Zelda in 1080p.

I'm actually sort of excited about that. Tentatively, at least. :)

I'm with Turin on this one. Nothing about that console got me hot in the pants.

As it stood, Zelda was the only game I really cared about on the console anymore. And that alone isn't enough to convince me to buy it. And I didn't see any special features I felt were particularly nice.

More interested in the Playstation Vita. I'm sold if it plays PS1 games, and I'll preorder if its also PS2. I'm not so interested in new games as I am in being able to play games I know I already enjoy on the go.

Then again, I'll probably get a first gen anyway just because they're the ones first ... modified, if you will.

Put me in with the rest.

It's a kind of neat idea, but that's about the extent of my interest. "Kind of neat."

I feel the same way about it that I did about the original Wii: I figure there'll be a game or two that seem interesting, but not enough to justify purchasing the console. I don't see any reason to believe that this'll have much content for the "hardcore" gamer. I'm expecting its games to primarily be shallow, casual fare, and for the applications of its unique controller to mostly come off as gimmicky or niche.

I'd be happy to be wrong, but right now I feel like Nintendo took a step in the wrong direction.

I have never regretted my purchase of a Wii, and I think it will be the same with the Wii U (god, I hate that name). This has rekindled a little bit of the Nintendo Fanboy in me, but I'm trying to not get too excited.

Heh. My husband will probably roll his eyes at me for wanting it. But I tend to want every new console or gadget that comes out.

I need to win the lottery.

My parents own a Wii (and pretty much never use it). I probably used it... 5 times? And considering they've had it for a year and a half, and I'm home for breaks, that's significant. And they have Mario Kart and my brother bought Brawl. I'm just not interested.

For one thing, I'm not interested in motion gaming at all.

I don't even really like the touch screen on the DS. I only bought it over the PSP because I didn't have a PS3 at the time and the game line up (then) was much better.

You can come over to play mine. I showed the video to my fianceé and she said she wants it, so I think we'll almost certainly get one :P.

I dub it the Pee U!

Although it looks kinda ok I guess. Nintendo is bit like Macintosh to me. I know some people would murder an entire retirement community and dedicate their souls to the robot devil for it, but to me it's not that big a deal.

This looks rather silly. As of now, I'll wait for the line-up and third party support as Nintendo along is not enough to get me to pay $300+ for a console anymore (see Wii paper weight previously resold).

As has already been stated, I'm super hyped for the Vita. Seriously hope there's some promise for the homebrew community.

Darksiders 2 on a Nintendo console...

I will probably get one. I only care about 2 companies. Sony and Nintendo. The new controller looks cool and the idea seems cool.

I disagree. I'm happy to let Sony and Microsoft continue with the trend of high-quality graphics and generic controllers, and let Nintendo experiment with the more gimmicky stuff, which we might learn some things from for the future. I don't see the need for a third console which does the exact same thing as the PS3/360 and only serves to divide the market into yet more exclusive games.

The Wii U looks interesting, but I doubt I'll buy it. The Vita I'll probably grab, just so I can turn my PSP into a portable emulator and not have to worry about it.

My biggest issue is that every console out has maybe three or four games I want, that's it. I just can't justify spending more on a console than I'll end up spending in games anymore. As is I have an original 360 from '05 that has yet to red ring, it gets that much use. I have a Wii that gets used three or four times a year when the wife wants to play Mario Party or MarioKart, a PSP that get's pulled out once every few months when I want a FF fix, and a DSi that gets used once or twice a year. Between all of them I have spent more for a single console than I have for all my console games combined.

I'm all for them trying new things, but I still think the Wii sucked. Look at Move and Kinect--both are better products for a console that wasn't designed FOR motion control. I'm happy to give the Wii credit for mainstreaming the idea, but I still think their design was awful. I mean, look how shortly after launch they released the higher-sensitivity attachment...

Another experimental controller, I wonder if Sony and Microsoft will copy it again.

I'll buy it and play it if it has worthwhile Zelda, Mario, and other assorted flagship series. If Microsoft and Sony continue their next gen with the same strategy as the last it'll again be the only console I find worth buying.

???

Overall, I've found gaming this generation to be fairly impressive. Sure, you have to sift through a lot of crap, but there are more than enough gems such that I never regretted having my PS3.

Of course, if you have a gaming rig the number of titles you are missing out on is pretty small.
