Congratulations, you've eliminated every MMO past, present, and future.

lol true . i like world of warcraft quests but ive tryed a few mmorpgs and some you cant even find the quest givers and others ive walked bye them before they have loaded the npc`s. im looking for a game that the quests are shown on the map and has alot of nice features . it also needs to have really good graphics equal to or better than wow

You might like Everquest 2? Pretty sure they offer a free trial of it.

It hasn't come out quite yet, but I highly recommend Star Wars: The Old Republic. It doesn't appear to be modeled after EQ or WoW (like most new MMO games...) and has a nifty Star Fox like space combat system... (Think Kingdom Hearts gummy ship if you're not familiar with Star Fox.)

This.

And it's made by Bioware who basically are sh*tting gold nuggets at the moment. It looks incredible.

Was never a WoW player but LOTRO and Rift are both good WoW Replacements.

You're the first person I've seen actually recommend LotRO.

Not a bad thing, it just makes me question your judgment a little. :P

Legitimate question: What does LotRO offer that every other MMO doesn't? And I don't mean that in a derogatory way, I mean it as a legitimate question (as it occurs to me that it can easily sound snide without tone).

I mean, WoW (at launch) offered a cohesive questing experience with an interesting character development system, combined with pretty nice character customization and graphics that, while not cutting edge, were quite nice to look at.

It wasn't really anything new, it just did those things better than the most of the market, and the combination made it a winner.

Just curious what people enjoy about LotRO? Besides the setting, which I'll agree is nice. Though I've always struggled with the premise of the game, since LotR is such a story-driven world; how do you turn it into a MMO when so much is about the non-player characters?

I'm going to go ahead and assume that it has grown a lot since beta, when I played.

Yes the game has changed a lot since Beta but in all honesty LOTRO does not do anything new it’s just well made polished MMORPG with a great community (which is not the same as it used to be since F2P :| )

LOTRO has great Lore (yes it’s heavily story based but Middle-Earth is just amazing) , end game is good though they are a little slow at adding new content (but hopefully with the increased revenue thy will start adding more)......though the PVP does suck in LOTRO...I cant lie about that.

Newer and similar? Yes

Better? No

I don't even think that's going to happen. I'd be surprised if Blizzard itself can make a better game to replace it (although it seems they're trying and confident). It may not have that new excitement factor it once did, but it's a hell of a lot more complete and interesting than anything new I've played. I've tried going back to rift 3 times and I still can't get into it.

I actually had fun playing the new f2p version of Global Agenda.

Battle can be clunky sometimes, but they make up for it with that fact that you get a goddamn jet pack at level 1. You move faster jetpacking than you do running, so when enemy NPCs run in fear under half health, it usually ends up with you jetpacking after them swinging wildly at their heads.
As a robotics guy, I also got a wall of invincibility and a personal turret at lvl3. I like to jet pack around an area, find a corner, throw up the shield, and build the turret behind it, then the wall goes down the the turret kills everything.

I parsed that as 'l2p version' and had a personal moment of enjoyment.
