Any of you play? I am totally digging this game - I just got it this weekend and I was sort of crapping myself over the online mode... ON A HANDHELD - it is new to me, and it just blew my mind how MMO-like it was.
I forget if this is on the PSP or NDS or both.
I played one of them on the PSP, and one on the NDS. I didn't like playing it on the NDS, and the PSP was fun enough, mostly played local with my brother for a bit. Not something that I really got into though.
Never tried Phantasy Star Portable 2 though.

I never tried the first one, but on 2 (for PSP) you can play with other people over wifi... basically I set up a party with the comment "newb looking to try partying" and a couple people joined me and we went and kicked some butt in a couple dungeons.
It felt very MMOish (there is even limited text chat - you can set some "quick chat" as well as doing the horribly inefficient imput... for whatever you want to say)
Also the character customization options are ridiculous.

Phantasy star portable is for the psp. Phantasy star zero is for NDS. The NDS is based on the starting mmo game Phantasy star online while Phantasy star portable is based on Phantasy star universe which is currently on xbox(Only american servers online atm) ps2 and pc.
I am huge fan of the online phantasy star series but I don't own a psp which is why I haven't picked this up. As far as I know right now Phantasy star portable is their most popular title from the series so far besides the original Phantasy star online. Glad to hear it's a good game.
Gods Eater Burst > Phantasy Star portable, but im biased I never liked Phantasy star games even back on sega. But Im playing a few other games atm on my psp, Patapon 3, Legend of Heros : Trails in the sky, and Blazing Souls Accelerate. I just beat FF4: Complete collection, kinda upset by their choice to make it easier.
