Is this game free yet? I played day 1, and stayed on for 4 years. I want to come back but if it not free, and only 100 ppl play, it just not worth it

also wondering...if marr's fist is dead, i have to start a new toon on clw? thats obsurd! i played for four years thats a ton of time spent on pimping out my toons. i had about 75 million tunar and a ridiculous amount of items and crap on mules. can i pay for a server jump or something idk.

Well its still a paid game unfortunately its up to 14.99 a month. I will say this i transfered from ppo to clw and it is fairly populated. Always groups available and most are helpful. If you enjoyed playing back in the day then come back on clw and give it a try you will only be wasting 15 bucks if you dont like it.

Do they offer character transfers from server to server?

Is CLW really all that's left? How dead exactly are the other servers?

Ill put it this way i was a PPO toon from day 1 of fronts and i transfered to clw about 3-4 months ago. Occasionally ill log into ppo just to see if any1 is on and usually at peak time of day (6pm) there is 1 person in freeport lol.
Clw on the other hand is the primary populous server now.

that sucks. i dont think i could put another 2 years into it just to get back to where I was. that makes me a little more hesitant to join again, as well as having to buy 2 ps2's since I sold mine years ago.

ive also been looking into getting back to eqoa, used to play back when pre fronts came out and up til 06, so sounds like CLW is the only populated server? bummer... they got any nice experience perks to help level at all? any lowbies still runnin around grinding their way up?

@Sqwegee, slapshotshield, and whomever else:

It's definitely not quite the same game that it used to be, but it's still pretty fun, and if you rrreally enjoyed it when you played before, I'd bet you'll still like it now. I returned recently and have been having plenty of fun with it.

Search around on this site as well as the soe forum (when it's back up) and you'll find lots of info on what the current state of the game is like. Here's are a few observations that you won't need to go searching for: The CLW server has a decent population. All other servers are desolate, at least from what I can gather. On CLW the vast majority are high level players, and you'll likely have a tough time finding groups below level 45. That's not as bad as it sounds though...in every starting city there are signposts where you can purchase a potion that grants you 4 times the normal experience. The potion lasts for a very long time and you can use it at all levels. Also, there are several hunt and gather quests that will help you level quickly without a group to work with (I'll not explain these further, time to do some searching fellas).

I was able to make it back to level 45 and pick up a were form in less than 30 days, solo-single box pretty much the entire time, and I've got plenty of other stuff going on in my life, so I wasn't devoting all of my weekends to gaming during that time frame. I'm in the middle of my second 30 day sub now, and I'm close to level 55 and an master class tag, again without playing every day and all weekend long.

One more comment I'd like to share is that help is not hard to find if you go looking for it. There's plenty of players (at least on the CLW server) that will help you out with some spare change for one of those xp potions, and maybe more if you're lucky. I've been fortunate enough to run into a few players that were very generous, all I had to do was ask.

I'm not sure if it's worth the trouble of picking up a new console and game disk (I just dusted off my old PS2 and Fronts disk in the closet), but my experience so far has been pretty decent, and I could see myself dabbling with this game for quite awhile.

Cheers, and Good Luck

Thank you very much for all the details man. It's still tempting, but it will be very very hard to let go of my toon on FH. I was one of those people who played more than anyone rightfully should. Like 100+ hours a week, for two years o.O I had more high end raid **** than you could shake a stick at. It'll be tough to just let all that go to start over. Hopefully I can find a friend who still has a ps2, log on, and check out FH and hope it's not too desolate. We'll see how it all plays out. :)

Marrs fist is not too bad. I recently came back after a 4 year break. There is 1 major guild and a few alt guilds left. We raid 3 days a week and normally have 30+ on. We took down ct last week. Clw has way more people on it, but we still have lots of people willing to help new players out or old players getting reacquainted with eqoa.

I hope the situation on FH is similar to yours on MF. Though I did get a ps2 from a friend for a few days, SOE being down is sorta stopping me from loggin back on. As well as forgetting my password and such. Waiting until 1 pm EST to call Cust. Support and hope I can get my account info back to log in.

im aware of that jayswiftlion but yes like you said it is still a good game and the best mmorpg ever made, and just like many people have said over the years on many forums its a shame that soe basically let it die with no content updates.
