Came out today.

Did anyone pick one up?
I did, and it is pretty neat. Sadly they don't come fully charged so mine is dead from the little bit of play I've done with it.
I bought Bust-a-move Universe and Rayman 3D to start off with.

The Wii maker is neat, I took a pic of my Father to see what it would "suggest" as "him" and it got it spot on XD
Made for a good laugh.

I can't honestly work up any enthusiasm for it; pretty much the only reason I'd buy one is to have WPA wifi connectivity, and for that I'd just buy a DSi.

It doesn't really strike me as a "OMG I WANT ONE" like the NGP does.

Glad you are enjoying it...

...but I have no intention of purchasing one. I have a DS; I don't need two.

And I'm kinda over the whole stylus thing. It was fun at first, but it's never gotten less awkward to use.

This. That thing is beautiful...

[EDIT2]

Also, I'm getting tired of companies releasing new versions of something every year. It makes it feel like a punishment to support them early on. In the gaming market, Nintendo is the prime offender (though they don't even hold a candle to Apple).

I mean, since they launched in late 2004 (late November/early December, so let's just say 2005):
DS
DS Lite
DSi
DSiXL
3DS

In 6.5 years, we have 5 versions. That's ridiculous. And they aren't exactly cheap. I'd respect Nintendo way more if they held off and released better models instead. Take the DSi for example. The larger DSi came out a year later (and they PLANNED it that way). Just hold off on the DSi and release the larger one, then.

But, of course, it's not Apple. I feel like they release a new version of every product every year. Bought an iPad? HA! Well now they're releasing the iPad2. Sucks for you idiots that bought the first one!

I prefer companies that focus on software improvements (which means including a way to download patches) and release fewer systems.

I feel ya on the new versions each year.

I own a DSLite that was already used quite a bit before I bought it (I have a dull spot about the size of a dime, right in the middle of my touch screen). So the 3DS is like a big upgrade for me.

I am a little bummed about the Release Games. No Mario, No Zelda (not til June), no real big "Nintendo" name.
I didn't really like Pilot Wings back on the SNES, the new-ish one doesn't do anything for me.
I own 3 real dogs, so Nintendogs+ Cats is useless to me.
and I own STF4 on ps3. Rest of the games out don't really do anything for me.

I was talked into Rayman. Many at the store were picking from Rayman, Lego Starwars, and Ghost Recon (I think).
BestBuy probably wasn't the best place to go, they only had like 6 games (not count each version of Nintendogs) Smiley: lol
But I've never played a Rayman game, so talking to the people they hyped it up pretty good so I'll give it a go.

I could see the AR Cards starting something new, small Mini-games could become a "collector thing."

But, but, ZOMG it's 3D!!!!!!!111!!!11111111

Yeah, I don't care about 3D, with or without glasses. I also don't game when I'm out and about, I just don't need to have a portable gaming device. I sold my PSP a few months back when Gamestop was giving an extra $25 on systems because I just never used the thing.

Besides a few scratches (which KILL me, because it's so glossy), my DS Lite is still in great condition. The right trigger is a little unresponsive now, but I've pretty much trained myself to push harder anyway. And so few games require it.

But I bought it new, and obsess over the protection of my electronics--you'd never guess that it was 4 or 5 years old. I never understand when I see people with battered cell phones, for instance. I mean, what the hell are you doing with it? Throwing it at passing cars?

Also, these people need to be stopped.

[EDIT]
Btw, I heard that samurai game (whatever it is called) is good.

It's anti-hotlinking stuff. If you copy/paste the link into a browser tab, you will see it. If you just click the link, it redirects you.

Bedazzling... I think people need to bedazzle their eyeballs instead.

Why is it that I can see it, though? I have cookies disabled. Is it just because it's in my temporary internet files? And I found it in google images. D:

I do hate the whole new versions ever year or so. I bought the big clunky DS when it came out and I think less than a few months later the DS Lite came out. If I had known the Lite was coming out I would have waited. I ended up trading in my DS towards a Lite. I love my Lite, but I would kind of like to upgrade to a DSi or 3DS. Especially for the WPA connectivity. I don't really want to have to change my router every time I want to get on WFC with my ds. Plus more and more games now are going to be coming out with features for DSi and 3DS so DS Lite is going to quickly become obsolete.

If you have a gamestop around you, I think you can get $50 off a new 3DS if you trade in the Lite.

Hm, $50? Is that in addition to the trade-in price? I can't imagine it would be, since that would put it near the DSi XL's price point.

I'm seriously considering a DSi XL, at this point. $169, and I can trade in my DS Lite and some of my 360 games that I don't play anymore; guess that's something for me to ponder.

No, I'm pretty sure they consider that the trade in value. A used DS Lite is probably like $80-90. Gamestop is notorious for giving craptastical trade in values. Therefor you would probably only really get like $20-25 for a used DS Lite trade in otherwise.

I forgot about preordering one back in January. I got mine today although I have no games for it. It is pretty neat although there just isn't any good launch titles right now IMO. I was looking forward to the Resident Evil game but apparently it will be awhile before it comes out. Heck Id have probably talked myself into Zelda OOT but its not even out yet.

It worked out ok for me since I don't currently have a DS and there are a handful of games Id like to play for it. I have Chrono Trigger coming, bought it for $15 on Ebay. The 3D picture thing is pretty neat. I am disappointed it don't have any real online support yet such as internet browsing or digital downloads. I thought it was supposed to let you download classic games like the Wii Shop Channel. Heaven forbid nintendo actually be cool about something and let ya download the games on your Nintendo Wii to your 3DS so they can be portable.

Guess there is always the more shady way of doing it though....

Before seeing the new PSP, I never even considered buying a launch console before. You usually end up with better features (at a cheaper price) by waiting. And since launch titles all inevitably suck, it's not really a loss.

I waited to get a PS3 until they released the slim. And it meant that I could get the best titles from the previous 2 years for cheap, and there were great titles regularly coming out by then. And I saved a ton of cash, which meant I could afford to buy the games I wanted.

Unfortunately it means they stare at it for three weeks before they send it back to the manufacturer for a refurb.

I'll wait until Zelda comes out before I pick one up. There's already comments floating around about an upgraded version (not a new model) coming in a few months. All rumor at this point though so who knows.

Probably means different insides. Like the multiple types of the PSP2000 model, early 2000 models can be loaded with custom firmware using the "tool" battery, but newer 2000 models had a different motherboard which wouldn't let the battery boot it into service mode. While not a new model, the newer 2000 models were an upgraded version.

Knowing Nintendo, you'll probably be getting the 3DS XL next year, in any case...

Though I wouldn't be surprised if there was a new version, considering they'll likely need to address what's causing the various hardware malfunctions people are reporting.
