There's kind of a nerfed BW in DA2. You can upgrade Hemorrhage so that it has a 50% chance to paralyze normal targets. Definitely not anywhere near the awesomeness of BW, but still potent.

I honestly never used Force Field or Crushing Prison. I actually didn't know what they were until this topic, because Blood Wound simply destroyed every encounter Smiley: lol
FF and CP were extremely useful in controlling Bosses or Elites in encounters with lots of trash mobs, particularly on harder settings (assuming you weren't just Arcane Warrior solo rolling everything Smiley: lol). Keeping a tough mob completely immobilized while taking out all the smaller targets was great.

I get WHY they made Mages so strong in DA:O--to justify the fear people had of them. I mean, yeah, a single Mage could approach situations that no other fighter could have.

It's just that those are the types of things you leave to the lore alone. :P I can't say I mind, because I had just as much fun playing a Rogue as a Mage, but it still would have been nice not to have been killed the moment I opened that one door in the Fade...

Anyway, my game just finished installing. I really wish I had gotten the signature edition. I knew I would get the game, but didn't expect to get it so soon--the demo was just too much fun. >.< I don't care about the items, I just want the character.

But question--on the site is says there's an item that unlocks for finishing the demo. I did that, and was logged into my account at the time. Is that all that is needed.

GAH, what do I want to play? >___<

I guess I'll... tank? There seems to be only 1 tank in the game, so I'll have to if I don't want to use her, no? Or can 2-handed Warriors tank fine?

It seems like you can spec as a 2H tank, yeah. Sword & Shield talents get you that nice flanking immunity though, IIRC.

/sigh. I guess I'll just go for a Rogue this time around. It was my first character in DA:O as well, and I know I'll miss the ability to pick locks if I'm ever without one.

[EDIT]

A high-crit toon sounds fun, actually. Does anyone know if there's a reason to pump cunning early, rather than Dex? Doesn't seem to be any point to do so just in terms of stat returns--buffing crit damage is great, but not if you never crit.

As long as you were logged in to your EA account while playing the demo, the weapon will be in the chest in the back room of your uncle's house in Kirkwall. If I remember correctly, it's a pretty decent two handed sword. There are a ton of unlockables most of which are stupidly strong for the first half of the game. Check my post at the top of this page for a link. Some of the items you can get just for signing up for a newsletter, so it's worth looking into.

Thanks, Turin.

Did anyone actually customize their Hawke's appearance. Part of me wants to, and part of me doesn't...

Well, I suppose choosing between blood and no blood is enough. :P

I'm gonna go with blood. It looks stupid, but it might grow on me. ;) If not, I'll really appreciate all the later playthroughs without it.

Freezing is fun. D:

Game has frozen twice on me already, between meeting Ser Wesley and Flemeth (same spot, too). Can't even open the PS menu...

A workaround in case anyone else was frozen in the same place I was:

Try these:
-(The one that worked for me--others were online solutions I found) When the darkspawn on the ledge are attacking you, run down the path more before killing them off.

-Manually save before hand. It seems the freeze is likely due to a memory leak. Manually saving might alleviate this, apparently, though I don't understand why.

-Turn off automatic saving.

So, I finish off all the quests I wanted to do and head down to the Deep Roads. I decided to bring Carver with me, which turns out to have been a bad idea. Not only did I lose him as a playable character, but the ******* had half the loot I found down there on him when he was taken. I knew I should have listened to mother and left his *** behind.

You can save him if Anders is with you as well. There are Grey Wardens down there Anders can lead you to. With their help, you can make Carver/Bethany a Grey Warden.

What happens if you leave him home?

I left Bethany home, and she got taken to the circle. I assume something happens to ensure that he is gone as well?

By the way, I've spent the last two days pretty much just playing DA2. This is unfortunate, because I have a lot of work to do over break. >.<

[EDIT]
MOTHER F*CKER. I took Merril into the fade with me, and she decided that the big, ugly Pride demon was trustworthy. So she attacked me. I REALLY hope that this doesn't mean she's out of my party... Especially since she had my DLC staff.

Oh good, no lasting harm done... I hope this means I'll stop getting rivalry points whenever I speak badly of demons to Merrill.

I'm assuming you were on the Night Terrors quest? Many of the party members can turn against you during that and you lose them for the rest of the mission. There'll be an apology thing later. Anders is an exception to turning on you since he's protected by Justice.

Yeah, I did that. I don't mind loosing him, but he had a bunch of pretty decent gear on him at the time. I do mind loosing that.

Maybe Bioware thought about that and put his gear in your trunk?

GET OUTTA OUR THREAD!

In other news, I've made the decision to stop using the wiki to see what quest options cause. Because one just included a pretty huge spoiler (and it was ludicrous, too, it was something like "Neither option will keep x from happening," where x had nothing to do with the quest at hand).

[EDIT]

Also, I would not at ALL be opposed to Bioware making a DA universe MMO--I think it could turn out amazing. Rich lore, interesting combat system (I'm loving DA2's), actual conflict between states, races, etc.

Considering how much the writers **** with Hawke's life in this game, I'm surprised that an ogre doesn't interrupt your romance scene and tear your lover in two.

Seriously, omg.

My favorite part is that Aveline is the ONLY ONE who has a conversation with Hawke about his grief. Well, plus the lover, but they're REQUIRED to. The best I got was Sebastian saying that he was sorry (sans conversation). Which was nice, considering every conversation you have with him is about how sad and angry he is over the murders of his family. There's obviously no common ground there.

REALLY guys? Are you f*cking kidding me? I spend half my time solving YOUR problems, pretty much selflessly (because, c'mon, 1 gold is petty change in Hawke's pocket at this point). I spend all my money buying you weapons/accessories/gifts. Everyone takes their anger out on me. I'm single-handedly holding the balance of Templars, Chantry, Qunari, Government and Citizens together. And not a single person is going to ask me if I'm @#%^ing okay after seeing my mothers head ON SOME OTHER BODY?

Oh yeah, but the two conversations I had with Merrill afterwards had her YELLING at me because I wouldn't give her the tool to restore a mirror that I'm 99% sure is going to destroy all of Kirkwall (I remember the Dalish origin story you stupid elf).

And Varric doesn't even offer to get me drunk!

***** you all, Aveline+Anders is my new party.

[EDIT]

OH FOR THE LOVE OF THE MAKER.

Right after my Mom dies the Vicount (without so much as a sorry comment about the death of one of his nobles/your mother) sends you to save his stupid son. Again. From the same people. Dude, Seamus DESERVES to die.

Oh wait, he did. Cool. Oh it's by that chantry b*tch. Wait, she's dead too now? AWESOME. So, like, time to grieve?

Apparently not, because now Isabella and Aveline are fighting in my parlor. And the Vicount sent Aveline to ask me to intercede on the city's behalf. Why didn't he come himself, I ask? Oh, because he just lost his son--it's understandable.

I JUST SAW MY MOTHER'S SEVERED HEAD ON A PATCHWORK BODY, KEPT ALIVE BY NECROMANCY.

WHY DOES NO ONE UNDERSTAND THIS?

And I don't even get to go see Bethany at the Circle? I'm done with Kirkwall-I don't wanna be their champion. Lemme go to Ferelden and hang out with Alistair. >:(
