Sten, on the other hand, was annoying. But he even says in the game that he's intentionally doing it.

Best secondary character in the game. Period.

I was genuinely miffed that they didn't develop him as a character more in DA:O. In fact, I think an expansion pack, or subsequent sequel, that takes place amongst the Berresad would be fascinating.

Judging by what I've read about DA2, the Qunari (and Arishok) will play a larger role.

As to what that means, I have no idea. It was very vague. I could also be wrong.

Personally, I was surprised to find that Oghren was my favourite character. I didn't think I'd like him but his story was really good, and he grew on me as I got further and further into the game.

I haven't played The Witcher before; is it any good?

Judging by the pics in the thread you linked, I won't be playing The Witcher II, haha. My computer won't be able to handle it!

I tried it. Got about an hour in, and I can't get on with the camera angles. Close in isometric doesn't really feel right. It just feels... I don't know. Antiquated I guess is the closest word I can think of.

Of course, this could just be me being dumb and I can actually change it to normal third person, but I tried and couldn't find anything in the options to do it.

I might give it more of a try at some point, but I initially found the controls and camera a little infuriating.

And yes, I heard something about collecting cards for women you sleep with and being able to use them in a card game? I might play it through just for that, if it's true.

There should be high isometric, low isometric, and third person, its in there, the third person works really well too.

Interesting. It sounds like it was just me being dumb. I'll have another look.

Thankyou for the information :)

Played through the demo today, and I'm not sure whether or not I like the new combat system. On one hand, it's definitely more... uh, frantic than DA:O. On the other hand, if I wanted to mash the attack button while plowing through waves of enemies, I'd play Dynasty Warriors.

On the bright side; Isabella.

Played through the demo as a mage. When I got to the second Ogre fight, things got nasty. I had the sister set up as healer, and for obvious reasons she was no help, so my party wiped fairly easily. I had to kite the damn thing along with it's minions and pick them off one at a time. Right after I killed it and the next wave was about to begin my game glitched or something, so I missed out on Flemeth's entrance, and just went straight into the conversation. Can't say that I like her redesign. The hair is a bit silly and the tits are a bit oversized for her character. That sort of thing works fine for Isabella, but just doesn't look right on the Witch of the Woods. Speaking of Isabella, she's the most interesting character in the demo. The Templar chick was just annoying, but since she's the only viable tank in the demo (if you aren't playing one) you're stuck with her.

As to combat, it's faster, but still pretty much the same. Spam attack while waiting for ability timers, the only difference this time around is that you have to actually press the button to attack instead of auto attacking. One thing I don't like is the addition of timers on potions. That's one of the things that made the Ogre fight such a pain. I was stuck without a healer so potions were all I had to work with.

Hmmm. I just right clicked on enemies & seemed to auto-attack just fine.

If you recall, in the demo The sister tried to solo-slay the Ogre, and got her face slammed into the floor for her troubles.

I enjoyed the demo but, like others, unsure about the mash X to Jayson attack. I'll still get it however.

also: I like the improved attack animations. Much more involved, if a little showy on the part of the mage =P

Ah, I see now. If you roll a mage, the sibling who gets creamed is the other mage. In my case, I rolled a warrior, and the sibling that got roflstomped was my brother, another warrior, so I had my sister the mage for the fight.

Edit: Spoilers!

I don't really like the graphics style - enjvironmental texture work is too low res for it to work properly (pressed for time, I imagine), and their animation team really can't pull it off. Faces look incredible, but that's about it. I wish they'd gone for a more stylised design - ultra-realism is really hard to pull off, yet every game seems to be after it these days. And not one of them can make rocks that don't look like plastic.

I picked a rogue, and the warrior got squished. Poor guy can't catch a break. I've never played the original, though combat was pretty good for games like this one; potion limits are very useful because things get real stupid real fast otherwise, one of the problems with KoTOR (by the star forge, you were immortal). Could use more attacks, more situational abilities and ****, but it's probably better than most of its genre in that regard.

Might give it a try, might not.

It's not a direct sequel so you should be fine. You just won't recognize some of the characters.I personally would play DA1 first cause it's an awesome game but it's not a requirement.

A bit off topic here, but I've just started playing Dragon Age Origins and am loving it. I see that there is a lot of downloadable content for the game. My question is at what point can I consider playing the additional content? Is the additional content intended to be played after the main storyline has been finished? I may not want to wait if there's good armor/weapons/etc to be had from the DLC that I can use in the main story line. I can't seem to find any information on this.

Pretty sure just Awakenings and Witch Hunt are things you'll want to wait on. The rest can be played at any time, IIRC.

One of the DLC (The stone prisoner) gives you access to an extra member for your party so it's really something you want to get as soon as possible.
