I only enjoy playing MMO on console and im thinking about giving FFXIV a try when it comes out on the PS3. I didnt care to much bout FFXI on PS2 mainly because i was to much into EQOA, but now seeing that EQOA is pretty much a dead game im thinking giving FFXIV a try and just wondering if any other EQOA players are too. EQOA was my very first MMORPG and will always be my favorite LOTS of good times!

I have been playing FFXIV since beta stages on the PC. As an old EQOA player myself I will say I love FFXIV. It isn't perfected yet either, you may read around and see some bad reviews due to its not so strong launch, since then FFXIV has switched out the whole team that was working on the game with a brand new team, who worked on the previous Final Fantasy online title FFXI. Every patch the game gets better and better. I find myself becoming more and more addicted to the game everyday I play it. When the PS3 version does come out I do believe it will be the perfected version of the game (for they have said they will not release the ps3 version as a simple PC port, they want the game to flourish on the PS3). All I can say is when you pick up the game when it comes out go into it with an open mind. Don't expect to get what you are used to in EQOA, stuff will be way different but just go with it and try to get some friends from EQOA to tag along. Btw I am Dargoth Draconia on Wutai Server of FFXIV. Look me up and you can join my LS if are interested when you pick the game up.

I plan on getting it...eventually.

I've been waiting for a MMORPG for the PS3 since I got it but money's rather tight with me being a student now and if there's a subscription fee on top of the retail purchase price...well I might just use that as an excuse to actually spend more time on school instead of playing games.

In school? Criminal Justice.

Ah. Why's it called Criminal Justice? What if they're innocent, and thus not criminals? Why isn't it Possibly-A-Criminal Justice? lol

Have you played Demon's Souls?

No, kind of looks like a japenese version of the mist though.

haven't read it. or seen it if it's a movie as well.

Pretty much a king of a country started using Soul Power to make his kingdom awesomesauce. It became awesomesauce, for awhile. Then contact with the kingdom ceased from the outside world, and a fog slowly moving across the land enveloped the kingdom (and other areas by time the game starts). No one who entered ever came out, so they couldn't ascertain what was goin on. Then (I think) Biorr of the Twin Fangs escapes the fog and tells the world what's goin on. What is going on is that soul-eating demons have ravaged the areas within the fog. Premuch everything has died, and what remains besides demons are soul craved men. The soul also acts as the mind in terms of sanity. The men who are left just mindlessly do whatever they did before the mist. So the soldiers defend the castle. Some miner people mine. Some tall people that died long ago have had their bodies reanimated. Patches the Hyena will make you want to kill him. You probably will. That's unrelated to what I was saying. You start off at this point.

The game is a solo/quasi-group game. You can summon other plays who have died in their game (and are thus (Blue) Phantoms) to help you in yours. You can have 2 with you at a time. Where you can do this is limited, though that is virtually nowhere. When the blue phantoms help kill a boss demon, they come back to life in their own word (you cannot summon others when you are dead).

PVP: When you are dead you can invade other people's games. you goal then is to kill the person's world you invading (they may have up to 2 other players with them). If you kill them, you rez back in your world. If you die, nothing happens (unless you die of stupidness, like falling down a chasm or from a trap). The PVP is pretty fun, of what little I've done. It gets your heart pumping and all until you get used to it. I'm still not used to it.

There's also World Tendency and Character Tendency.
Tendencies go from Purre Black to Pure White.
World Tendency being either pole opens up special events in each of the worlds (the world tendency is different for each world). World Tendency is determined by the collective actions of people playing the game online at the time. At black, the game is really flippin' hard. But you DO feel rewarded. At white, not so much (atleast for me anyway).
Char Tendency also affects stuff, but I'm tired of typing. Is now a greatest hits and so only $20.

The mist is a steven king novel and a movie yes(I don't know of any of his books that haven't been save for the most recent ones), about a fog that descends on a town and monsters start appearing and killing everyone. It sounded a lot like what wikipedia described that game as.

There are a few games that I am wanting to try out already but I'll try to keep that one in the back of my mind.

Oh, in that case the mist is just another representation of final fantasy 5, 6, 9, and probably others I don't feel like remembering.

Shoot, go buy demons souls used from gamestop and then return it if you don't like it. The only thing you lose is time and gas.

In 1980 I think it's before any final fantasy game.

Not that I'm defending the book I didn't care for it, in fact most of that authors books are highly over rated, has a few good, several mediocre, and the rest bleh books.

I play FFXIV currently. Dargoth Draconia is my toon I am a R50 Archer on Wutai. The game has great potential but lacks content, content is about to start rolling out starting next month and the game will be great.

Though EQ Next was talked about last year at GDC and it is rumored it will be on display at E3 coming up next month. Hopefully and likely since EQOA was a release on ps2 that EQ3/EQ Next will be put on the PS3. IF sony really loves us and loves money they will do it for sure.
